Statistics

  • Jack has killed 270 people on screen. Of these deaths, 213 were the direct result of gunshot wounds (79%).
  • Jack killed, on average, 1.4 people per hour over the whole run of the show, or 1 person every 43 minutes.
  • Jack killed the fewest people on Day 1 (10).
  • Jack killed the most people on Day 6 (51).
  • Jack killed the most people in a single episode in "Day 6: 5:00am-6:00am" (13). This is more than in the entire of Day 1.
  • Jack has killed more people between 10:00pm and 11:00pm than he has in any other hour (30). With the exceptions of Day 1 and Day 2, Jack has killed at least one person during this hour in every season.
  • Jack has killed fewer people between 8:00am and 9:00am than he has in any other hour (only 1 person, near the beginning of Day 2).
  • Jack has killed at least one person in each of the 24 hours in a day (when counting across all seasons).
  • The longest run of consecutive episodes where Jack killed no people is the 10 episodes starting with "Day 1: 1:00pm-2:00pm."
  • The longest run of consecutive episodes where Jack killed at least one person in each is the 5 episodes starting with "Day 6: 6:00pm-7:00pm."
  • Only four of Jack's on-screen kills (less than 2%) have been women: Nina Myers, Nicole, Dana Walsh, and a Russian operative in Day 8: 12:00pm-1:00pm.
  • Ryan Chappelle is the only person killed by Jack to receive a silent clock.
  • Day 1 is the only day where Jack does not kill someone by breaking their neck.
  • Berkov was Jack's final on-screen kill, although he was seen dead on-screen only after the fact. It is also highly likely that Mikhail Novakovich's fatal injuries were inflicted after Berkov's, yet Mikhail died first.
  • Day 5: 5:00am-6:00am and 24: Redemption are tied for the greatest variety of methods (4) that Jack has used to kill someone in a single episode. In the former they were: gun shot, knife wound, burn wound, broken neck; and in the latter they were: explosive, gun shot, knife wound, broken neck.

Jack has 12 hours to get 30 kills and reach 300. He's going to need some multikills, but I believe in him.

I started rewatching 24, not in prep for the new season (I won't be anywhere that will show it when its on), but because I totally didn't finish the show when I last started it.

Man the first season of 24 is kind of a drag. And the twist that Jack's wife gets amnesia is one of the stupidest twists in 24 history tbh.

Well, I can forgive them on that one. The crew never expected the show to go past episode 12 (they were only signed up for half the season to begin with, dependent on ratings)

Oh I see. I didn't know that. Makes sense since Jack is reunited with his wife and kid then.

Yeah. The rescue of Kim and Teri was intended as a possible end to the series. When it was picked up for a full season around the time they were producing 11 and 12, they had to start making it up as they went along.

I wonder what Catelyn Stark will be like as a villain. The closest I can think of, regarding past femail villains, is Dina Araz - kind of.

Just got to Season 2. If there is one thing that sucks massive shit in this season is the subplot between Kim and that psycho father. It is so incredibly unrealistic.

But Jack Bauer's beard offsets that terribleness.

.

I'm hoping sticking to only 12 eps will mean they won't have time for crap like that.

Haha. It's one those good bad side stories that's there pretty much every season. It simultaneously gets worse and better but there's a payoff. Plus Billy Burke is great!

Going through season5 and could not stop laughing at part when CTU is locked down due to gas attack. jack has go to another room and to protect himself from gas he just pulls up his hood on his hoodie. Need remember that during gas attacks hold your breath and pop you hood up you be safe

I really enjoyed 24 when I first started watching it, but after a season or two the formula for the show started to become very obvious.

Some crisis occurs and Jack Bauer's gotta try and stop it. And the show is very action packed and racing a thousand miles an hour and you've gotta have important revelations every two or three episodes. The beats of the plot demand a satisfying resolution after about 6 or 7 episodes, because you just can't keep dragging it out for the audience that long. So they finally end the crisis and catch the bad guy red handed. But wait... we're only about 6 or 7 episodes in. There's 24 episodes in a season. We've gotta keep going somehow, cause there's way more episodes to fill. So now... we suddenly find out that this bad guy Jack caught actually wasn't the main bad guy after all. He was only actually a pawn working for another, even worse bad guy. And maybe we can somehow give this pawn a presidential immunity if he'll work for us and try to catch the new mastermind.

So we're off again racing against the clock. More action setpieces occur. We've got more shit blowing up everywhere. And then, after another 6 or 7 episodes... we finally nab the mastermind. Boy, what a struggle for Jack. But now we've got him. It's all over.

Except it's not. Turns out that there was an even bigger supervillain behind the actions of this mastermind. The plot thickens... again. Holy crap, the audience never saw this one coming. And there're actually moles inside CTU itself? Boy, what a crazy plot this has turned out to be... and rinse and repeat.

And finally we get to the 24th episode of the season and Jack's finally caught (and probably killed) the ultimate mastermind behind the entire season's worth of conspiracies and schemes. And you start to realize just how convoluted and insane this guy's whole plot was, where it required about 3 or 4 various bad guys under his control to all have their own evil conspiracies working together.

And that's the real problem with the formula. The fast pace of the show requires a resolution after every 6 or 7 episodes but since the season is 24 episodes long it ends up requiring an incredibly ludicrous and convoluted plotline that doesn't really make much sense.

I've watched the entire season before, and yeah it goes serious shitty. Just up to the part where Kim loses the little blonde girl for the first (?) time.

Yeah I guess. This one is so shouty and obnoxious though, thanks to Billy Burke.

20 days, people! OT threads go up a week beforehand, right? So I'd post it on the 28th.
