Bjergsen is the greatest midlane in the world
1.Good visuals
2.Great music
3.God tier gattai sequence
4.2D mecha
5.Main character seems pretty likable
6.Brown girl

Bolded is for emphasis
Seikoku no Dragonar has exactly one of these things. That must mean it's 1/6th as good.

I see this thread exploded today, and of course it's Mahouka driving it.

Yeah I could see why the thread exploded because of Mahouka, but people shouldn't really jump to conclusions on the very first episode as it hasn't really shown anything especially the fights that are to come because it's just a introductory so far, and they haven't clearly explained everything yet.

Not the picture I was expecting from ReDrop, but I approve. :lol

Lol I have no idea what you could possibly have been expecting. :V

He also posted Yayoi's! :D

I don't think I'll really be interested in the show unless they devote a good amount of time to the Nine Schools Competition arc. I'm not too interested in revisiting the other arcs to be honest.

Mahouka - 01
Alright first episode ..i really don't see how you guys made those comparaison earlier ..i'm just not seieng them.

It's a classic "guy hides his powers because reasons" and judging by how they are ( brother & sister ) i think that there is more to dig in before stating about both characters since they have their share of thing they hide.

Gonna watch because the setting isn't bad and i like the ideas of a magical highschool

First episode also was MUCH MUCH more intresting as it stand in term of setting / characters than magical warfare mess.

Thank you Thanatos you are one of the most reasonable person to understand.

Still World is Beautiful 1 - I liked this more than what I remember of the manga start, which started IIRC right at where she's introduced to the King.

Okay I am doing this in chronological order. I am going to restart since last time I tried watching I couldn't get past episode 13. Now let's begin...

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 2

KyoAni sure likes to start their shows with a muted color pallet until the two main characters meet.

That said this was quite entertaining. I forgot how funny the banter between Kyon and Haruhi was. When Haruhi started talking about "moe" and "lolita" characters I started laughing. I think watching this in chronological order is gonna be much more entertaining then last time.

I also love how every MC in every anime ever wants to have the second seat from the back by the window. Hahaha.

Mahouka kind of only stands out for being average and boring right now. It's not offensive. I didn't want to die after.

The speed at which his
secret got blown
was pretty breakneck though. His
"infiltrate the school as an unassuming Weed"
plan got fucked in all of ten minutes.

Production values are out of this world and main protagonist seems cool enough. When people said this episode was hitting a lot of points on a checklist they weren't kidding though. Also its falling into the common anime trope of making things way more convoluted and obtuse than they need to be. Show could take a lesson from something like Symbiotic Titan in how to do a strong intro episode.

Mahouka 1

Yeah like five minutes in I quit to go watch Space Dandy reruns. Apparently it has Iwasaki music and good fight choreography? I dunno if I could be bothered to give this another chance.

Birdy the Mighty: Decode 2-3

Good action and I really dig the main theme. Male MC appears not to be a shit lord which is encouraging and Birdy is cool even if she acts half her age sometimes.
Toto's death
seemed a bit sudden and lacked a bit of impact
since it feels like it could have been avoided
. I do wonder if Oujo-sama girl
and the rogue officer did fuse
or if its all just misdirection.

Daily Lives of High School Boys 5

Still hilarious though the genderswap sketches are kind of sexist :(

Gaming side is getting introduced to Aniplex USA.

this should be fun!

Spring 2014 |OT4| Anime sucks

anime will never suck. It isnt possible.

I swear I hear people say this at the start of every single season. Usually before most shows have even started! It's pretty funny because by the end of the season, everyone is still here, and most people are watching multiple shows, and then there are debates about which the best show of the season is, and which are anime of the year candidates. It's pretty funny. :p

Yeah its so predictable and 99% of the time its wrong.

I am amazed at how many people don't appear to understand the pricing model behind anime, especially when Japanese imports come around. Anything over $30 for a complete season is price gouging to the uninformed. At least there are a few Gaffers explaining Aniplex's pricing reasons.

Just tells me that a lot of posters didnt grow up buying anime the way it used to be sold. It used to be pretty expensive.

Batman's plans are starting to fall apart. Time to get rid of the problem in the formula.

Despite the horrendous looking key art shown off a few weeks ago, this is actually a very slick looking anime. The school clothes are kind dumb looking but regular wear and environments are pretty. MC is kind of a badass too. He's very calm and analytical which is a nice change of pace from the hot headed impulsive/whiny characters we usually get in these type of shows. The action is pretty well done so far and kind of cool to watch actually.

Now let's address the elephant in the room with the incest undertones. Yeah they're there, but as long as it doesn't go anywhere it won't bother me all that much. Would be a shame to stop watching because of that though because everything else is pretty cool. So as long as it doesn't go full blown
OreImo
incest levels I think I can live with it.

It has certainly peaked my interest and surpassed my expectations since I expected this to look horrible (because of the key art from a few weeks ago) and the story (because some here were bagging on it). So far everything is pretty solid. I really like some of the magic concepts and how they fight and get around. It's all pretty cool.

Edit: this is the key art I was talking about. It initially put me off.

If you watch the previews they go into more detail on how their magic system works.

The World Is Still Beautiful 1

I liked this a lot more than I expected to. The comedy's not hilarious, but it has a kind of unassuming light-hearted vibe that makes it really easy to watch and like, which I hope it maintains. Nike seems like a fun protagonist, and I like the shades of medieval Europe in the setting. Will keep watching.

Low point was (as it usually is) the 4th wall breakage. Hope it doesn't crop up again.

Am I doin it rite?

edit: To those watching The World is Still Beautiful I hope you don't mind that the series will turn into full-on shojo throughout the rest of the show. Also the main love interest is a 15 year old kid (As you saw from the description). I'm not sure how old the protagonist is supposed to be but just an FYI if something like that may bother you. Personally the manga seems pretty decent so far in terms of shojo. Nothing groundbreaking but it's sweet. Also the male MC acts fairly mature most of the time.

Let me help you out. You can put on the Noragami OST and listen to it while watching this. That's probably all you'll need from the show this week.

Did you ever watch Harry Potter and think "you know what would make this better? If it was an anime, mixed with all the best elements of Sword Art Online like a Gary Stu protagonist and nonsensical prejudice. Also, turn the incest dial up to 11"? If not, congratulations, you are a healthy human being.

In conclusion, anime should be banned.

Yes, but in my defense basically every thought I had when I was 14 could be sorted into two categories: Naughty and Terrible.

1.Good visuals
2.Great music
3.God tier gattai sequence
4.2D mecha
5.Main character seems pretty likable
6.Brown girl

Bolded is for emphasis

Great Mazinger has most of these, too.

Man, these interactions are pretty damn overboard, but I guess that's part of the charm here. But did the early manga look anything like this? I saw a cover of that and that didn't look like this at all, doubly so with the cover image they show on Crunchyroll's site showing the same thing redrawn. I take it they adapted this to the later manga's art style?

That guy should be retroactively slotted into other anime. Code Geass for instance. Would have been a much shorter show after he got busted in the first half hour.

Or Death Note

D Frag

The voice actor for Kazama MC and Oga from Beezlebub fits this show perfectly, I mean his voice makes a bunch of scenes so hilarious and the way he reacts is so good.

Lol I kinda felt this way too. I didn't really enjoy the manga when I read it before the anime came out, but I enjoyed reading it much more after I watched the above because I imagine the VAs voices attached to the characters. I really liked the cast.

My biggest issue with D-Frag is that his straight-man reactions always had the same screaming voice and happened all the time. But I guess that's standard fair for this type of humor.

Wait what. This was an... odd episode. Let's see:
Blob planet. Everyone being naked for most of the episode. Giant amoebas that talk like dudes. Giant amoebas that talk like dudes plotting to get onto the train using a plan that probably came from a hentai. Getting a sob story from giant amoebas that talk like dudes. Giant amoebas that talk like dudes walking into the sunset gossiping about Maetal. Suicide!

I mean it was good! It was just much weirder than this show had been so far.

Welcome to Boke and Tsukkomi, the only kind of comedy that exists in Japan.

It works for me when it isn't the same person and the tone changes. Gintama is riddled with this type of humor, 70% of it coming fron Shinpachi, but they make a joke out of it how it's his only quality (besides the glasses). Also there's plenty of ridiculous shit happening humor and amazing writing.
