Kinda odd how most of the characters have some kind of recognizable location that they're in but Mario is just in a black void and Kirby in some kinda bubbly green dreamscape.

NoA's irrational hatred of Summer releases seems limited to July. What was the last game they put out in July? Dragon Quest IX?
I think it was a 2 month delay first and then another 1 month delay.
It went from December 2007 to Feb 2008 to March 2008.

Well, i asked my retail source and they didn't hear about any smash delay. They knew about the recent Donkey Kong delay before they officially announced it. So there's that. To be fair, they never announced a date tho.

Also like I said before, we are getting the twitter for the games soon. If the game will be delayed to 2015 what they hell are we going to get out of the twitter of an unreleased game for almost another year? Unless they hit a situation where the game will implode, I don't see how we go from Sakuria saying that the game dev process is running smoothly and ahead of schedule (this was in one of his tweets, yes?) to being knocked into 2015.

How long have you been watching this industry? How about Nintendo? Where there is smoke, there is many times fire in my experience. That posting had a number of characteristics that concern me (and I'm not saying its 100% true, just that I'm very concerned):
1. The posting didn't go out of its way to leak key information about the game itself, but happened to reference a release date -- something that doesn't matter to most of the public or to the information flow of the game.
2. It was supposedly from a known poster of jobs, someone who regularly puts his recruitment efforts on the site. Additionally, the time frame of hire is the most important attribute of a job posting.
3. It was removed very quickly.
Assuming this means the posting was accurate, it is indeed possible there is some other smash bros. game in development, but the references to Wii U / 3DS make this highly unlikely. That would imply that there is indeed a high possibility for delay. I guess we'll know, or not know more tomorrow.

What if they're rushing Smash 3DS and Wii U out ASAP? As in, releasing it fairly soon and the alleged "Smash Bros 6" is a massive expansion?
As in to say, release a base game now, to maintain momentum for the consoles, which will tie us over until the large expansion next year?
Of course, this is a silly idea, but given a random super early Direct, nothing seems out of the impossible right now.

I think the Super Smash Bros 6 thing was a typo. They probably meant Soul Calibur 6. Smash Bros has over 20 million sold but the job description noted 10 million, which matches up with Soul Calibur's lifetime sales.

My predictions for tomorrow.
Sakurai comes out and tells us all that this game is heavily focused towards the hard core.
As such all the updates he released on Miiverse are fake and he has spent the last 6 months tweaking Fox to be uber teir.
The game releases after the direct with Fox only, no items, and Final Destination.
Tripping is still in.

One of the things that always impressed me with this short opening was how everything felt cohesive even while they were showing off so many distinct and iconic worlds. I am also of the belief that the segment of audio and video from 0:50 to 1:00 is the single best thing in the opening.
Meanwhile, Smash 64's opening has such great music.

As much as everyone would absolutely hate this, I would love it.
There's a very good reason why they've been holding out on giving a specific release date for Smash and it's probably just in case there is a chance it could get delayed. Since because it doesn't have a specific release date they wouldn't have to announce said delay if the expectation is still set for sometime in 2014 -- we wouldn't hear a sound of delay while it's possible that there was an internal "deadline" delay.
That said, the chances of it happening this time are really slim given the circumstances this time compared to Brawl. Yes, the precedent for insane delays are there but given what we know about the game's development it's extremely unlikely it'll get delayed.
So cool your jets about it. I don't even think there's ever been a precedent set where Nintendo has given a ballpark year for a game and then inexplicably delayed it to the next year. The only example I could think of is Pikmin 3 but even that's not a true example because they gave us the ol' "launch/release window" timeframe which isn't even a year like Smash 4's situation.
