Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

If the 'Customization' rumor is true, then it would make sense that he's devoting a whole direct to the mii.

I'll try to find my source for the rumor, but it basically goes that the 'Mii' is to characters what 'Stage editor' is to stages. Through gameplay (and also AR cards), you unlock items and costumes, which you can then use to edit the mii, which changes both appearances and moves. Like custom stages, you can also disable someone picking 'Mii' in case they are 'broken' or 'imbalanced.'

If the rumor is true, it requires a bit more than a short trailer or some miiverse pictures to fully explain in detail.

He could be wrong on the month of the direct, which might make tomorrow's direct include what the rumor said.

The person who posted that said Little Mac and Rosalina were Assist Trophies in an extra post on that thread.

There is...

...lots of internal evidence...

...showing that Smash Bros. will still be released by the end of 2014. If Mr. Iwata announces a delay into 2015, it will be a sudden thing.

Not to mention that having a Nintendo Direct to announce a delay would be utterly ridiculous. That's the sort of thing you hide in press releases.

Fake or not, it sounds to me like what they would do if Miis turn out to be customizable. Taking advantage of the NFC features in the Wii U Gamepad would make perfect since for SSB.

.

Seriously, I can't believe people are thinking they would announce the delay in a direct specifically tailored for the game. That kind of info is something you slip into either a press release or a passing comment in one of the mainline, bimonthly directs to hide it among other news. If they actually come out and announce a delay for the game that they are exclusively trying to hype up then they're even more lost than I had previously thought.

Wait wait wait wait wait.

So i'm watching all the smash bros videos on repeat, for direct hype, and I noticed something... odd.

He's on battlefield, right?

Notice anything missing?
Yeah, it's Battlefield sans platforms. I imagine it was made for the purpose of showing things off on a flat stage without spoiling what Final Destination looks like.

Do you think it's strictly like a debug stage, or do you think they could release a '2nd' version of the stage sans platforms, as a 'small' final destination.

Isn't that Final Destination...?

Edit: NVM, checked the video and saw that the same stage has platforms earlier on.

I suspect it's a debug stage, but I could be wrong. After all, I wouldn't have expected the Smash-version of the boxing ring stage to make it into the final game, but here we are.

Isn't that Final Destination...?
Battlefield and Final destination are always visually unique, it would be really disappointing if the final Final Destination was just a redone Battlefield.

That's Battlefield without the platforms, not anything terribly shocking -- probably just a stage they use to test stuff on.

See:

or more akin to the How to Play stage from Smash 64:

Which is just Dreamland with one platform above it. (Yes I'm aware that's a Brawl modded stage, I couldn't find a screenshot of the original lol).

It's also worth noting that the first image I showed above was also used in promotional materials on sites like IGN as screenshots for Smash 64 so it's definitely not something that's new to the series (as far as showing stages off in their earliest forms goes).

Does anyone have a link to this Monolithsoft tweet that supposedly talks up this direct?

Soraya Saga is a Monolith Soft employee + wife of Xenosaga / Xenoblade / X director Tetsuya Takahashi. She usually makes a mention to an upcoming Direct when Monolith Soft is shown off in some capacity.

But in this case, she may just be excited:

Isn't this the reason Sakurai doesn't like tweeting about things, because everyone assumes his tweets have some hidden hint about Super Smash Bros.?

That's gotta be the worst, because you can't actually tweet about ANYTHING that you'd want to. That said, it does open up massive opportunities for trolling that Hideki Kamiya would kill for.

Updating this before the Direct tomorrow! :)

I wish this game does not get delayed. As for someone who has never really owned a Nintendo system except a wii which I picked up for cheap I always enjoyed playing brawl and melee with my family and friends.

I will be picking up a wii u for this game. Tomorrow should be special!

I'll let you guys know how smash is when its playable at PAX east

that's the bomb of the smash direct, it'll be at expos and conferences

my delusional world is the best world to live in :p

we will all have undertaker streak ending reactions if smash is delayed ;_;
