Charizard and Greninja announced for Smash Bros.

Yeah he's pretty fucking badass. Total Bro-tier indeed. Plus his shiny is GOAT.

Now watch them fuck up and not include any of the shiny colors for the playable Pokemon again.

They showed Samurai Goroh running around as an Assist Trophy. They're not going to keep him and axe Falcon. The good captain will return

I definitely did not see this. Mind giving a time? I just watched the Assist Trophies section of the Nintendo Direct again and Samurai Goroh definitely wasn't there

It was earlier, when they talked about how Pokéball Pokémons and Assist Trophies will run at 30 FPS, while everything else runs in 60 FPS. Really easy to spot.

No, we're going to have to run some tests between Mewtwo and Jigglypuff to decide who gets in.

No tests necessary, it would be jiggs every time.

Also how long until we get past the "m-muh gen 1!" stage with this greninja reveal? Or is that never going to pass?

Yeah I forgot, what I should've posted was that I am gonna use that frog starter pokemon.

Oh and is Greninja's scarf....it's tounge?

The answer to your question is in the post you just quoted, with someone asking the exact same question. Lol.

No Pokemon Trainer? That really sucks.

Not to say I hated Charizard in Brawl but I was interested in him because of the other two being attached too. I'm not really interested in playing him standalone tbh (standalone Squirtle would be a different story, he's pretty fun to play by himself at least)

Frog Strider looks pretty boring.

Olimar changes look pretty rough though. Actually having a recovery with no Pikmin is an improvement but being stuck with only 3 Pikmin total now? And then the recovery is weaker when you have MORE Pikmin? Eh.

Okay, I'm officially hyped for Greninja...his gameplay looks really fun, and he was one of the best designs from X/Y.

And I think it's pretty cool that Zard got in as well...how can you not like playing as a fearsome dragon?

Personally, I preferred Squurtle and Ivysaur over Charizard as they were much more fun to be for me. But Charizard is good too!

Greninja is pretty much Decapre, a hybrid of pre-existing characters (Vega+Cammy vs. Captain Falcon+Sheik).

Only difference here is that the originals are being replaced by the hybrid.

I hate greninjas color pallet. Great Pokemon otherwise.
I love his color scheme. Super distinctive and straightforward enough. His "core" -- belly, breast, jawline and horns -- is beige. So is the webbing between his fingers and toes. Then the rest of him is dark blue, with the exception of bright blue webbing around the horns and bright blue cross-marks on his thighs, the clear pustules on the elbows, knees and eyes, and of course the soft pink of the tongue "scarf," shared by the pupils.

Basically, he's blue and beige, with clear accents, a splash of light blue around the crown, and a whole lot of pink wrapping around his neck. :-)

Sheik is not being replaced -- she was confirmed in the very same Direct. And you can bet Captain Falcon will be back, as well, since during the 60 fps segment, we see Samurai Goroh running around, and I doubt they'd have that F-Zero AT while inexplicably dropping F-Zero's main man.

As a non-Pokemon fan, this was a downer. For me, every time a Pokemon that isn't from the first generation of the series gets revealed, I just think "well, there goes another character slot."

What total crap.

I don't like Star Fox, so let's strip all of those characters out. Ditto F-Zero, or Fire Emblem. They're just wasted slots, because I don't like them- they'd be put to far better use putting more Pokémon in! Screw anyone who likes them, I declare that they're wasted slots.

I don't get first-gen elitism. If Greninja had been in Red and Blue, you can bet your bottom dollar he'd be a cherished favorite mentioned in the same breath as Charizard.

I find people that hate everything not first-gen for the sake and vice versa both obnoxious. But for Greninja in particular I find it confusing because I believe it's one of the overall better designs, especially for a starter, that's shown up in a long time. It's one I'd imagine even "Gen 1 purists" would enjoy.

Guys I am begging you PLEASE let's not go down the gen war path again.

Instead, let's all be happy that both old time faves like Charizard and Pikachu and deserving new mons like Lucario and Greninja are in.

Shoot, I picked Fennekin and I'm still happy to see Greninja get in.

There are other Pokemon I would have rather had, but I know other people love Greninja and I've liked most of the newcomers already. At least he looks like he has an interesting play style and might be fun to use even though I don't like the Pokemon.

He seems to have multiple recovery moves too. There's the water teleport and there's the "move fast with water" attack that resembles Pikachu's Quick Attack.

sakurai is putting my pokemon y team in this

how am i supposed to choose?! greninja looks like sex

err however much like sex a ninja frog can look like

Based on what I can tell from the moveset...
  • Side B: Teleport it uses at the beginning of the attack montage
  • Neutral B - Aqua Shuriken: Charged projectile. Fully charged shot seems to knock down Bowser; perhaps it's meant for tech chasing. Goes faster than charge beam.
  • Down B - Substitute: A counter move that seems to work on projectiles, including Greninja's own reflected projectiles. Doing one lets you teleport over to the opponent and attack.
  • Up B - Aqua Jet: Greninja fires a jet of water underneath it to propel itself. Seems like it can be done two times in a row, similar to Pikachu's quick attack.
  • Jab combo: Swipes several times in a row fast but not infinitely like Fox or Shiek.
  • Dash A: Running kick. Same as Zero-Suit Samus.
  • Forward tilt?: Horizontal swipe that covers a bit of ground.
  • Forward smash?: Roundhouse kick.
  • Up Tilt: Seems slow. Crouches and swings tongue in arc above head.
  • Up Smash: Charges up to swords and then stabs them up. Seems to have high ending lag as it sheathes them.
  • Forward Aerial: Slaps the tongue forward.
  • Down Aerial: Dive kick that goes straight down. Low ending lat and can be jumped out of on hit.
  • Back Aerial: Two kicks back.

I'm not seeing the Captain Falcon parts at all.

Post-newcomer high is one of the best highs.

Is it DaBoss who does the move-by-move analysis with GIFs? We need that for Greninja!

People hate Charizard for some reason. People just act like they have bad taste for hipster nerd forum points, but in reality know Zard is the best.
