Racing at 30 fps makes no sense whatsoever. At least the game will look good in stills, I guess...
So weird for a dev to choose 30 fps over 60 for a racer.

Haha, not really. 60 fps makes a big difference for racers. Sim racers like more accurate physics and such. The graphics just happen to be a plus.Wouldn't flashier graphics be more beneficial for a sim racer considering sim racers go for visual flair/accuracy

They've restated it in yesterday's reveal, and again in the PS Blog update.
PS+ Edition will be there day one.
For racing games though? What the hell?
All the shit forza gets for its cardboard cutout crowds (which no one sees unless you use the fantastic inbuilt recording/screen tools), but at least they managed to deliver 60 fps racing.
Makes me wonder if the next forza will amp up the track details and tone down the fps.
What, people really choose 1080p over 60FPS?
I'm not cool with that. I'd rather have 900p and 30FPS than 1080p and 30FPS
Then when GT7 is shown it'll look better while being 1080p/60fps with more cars on the track.

There is a hell of a lot going on, Perkins adds. Increased visual fidelity does cost, theres no argument about it. The PlayStation 4 is very capable of doing both but weve gone for a fully dynamic environment, so you can go any time of day, anywhere on the planet, and itll calculate the atmospheric density, whether youre up the top of a mountain or at sea level.
30 fps worked perfectly well with Project Gotham Racing's gameplay, and Driveclub's is pretty much in the same ballpark mix of realistic/arcade handling.
I'm fine with 30 fps as long as there are no slowdowns ever, of course.

Mario Kart 60FPS. DriveClub just 30.
They told me that I have the last-gen console but I don't see it.
It's really not that weird.
Same with Horizon which was amazing.
It was a good decision. Gameplay won't feel as nice at 30fps but that photo mode will look amazing!
I mean, it is what counts in a racing game, right?

That sounds alot more like a sim then an arcade game to me.
Yeah because that's a completely valid comparison.
nope, no buy.
i would never buy a 30fps racer.
Disappointing, but expected. Too bad top-end visuals always seem to win out over the best possible response time and visual feedback in a genre where those things are absolutely beneficial to the actual gameplay experience long after the novelty of next-gen graphics has faded from mind. I hope that this isn't the standard for console racers like it was last gen, too.
We knew it was coming, but still, it moves it from a maybe to a no for me. Luckily there's the free version to mess around with.
Maybe I am the weird one but the difference between 30 and 60 is most noticeable for me in racers.
