I AM DEE RHIIIINOOOOO.
My friends instantly cracked up the moment Giamatti appeared on screen, lol. Guess they liked the cheese and over the top vibe throughout the film.
Well, I saw it a second time, but this time with my friends, and a few of my opinions have changed. I enjoyed it more in my second viewing which I didn't expect, might have been because of my friends and brothers. Was surprised at how engaged the audience was laughing at most of the jokes and stuff, they laughed at Max Dillon in his apartment too.. which could be good or bad depending on the intent of that scene lol.
My second viewing helped me see a few things that flew past me before due to the jumpy pace of the film. It feels like a story that at first glance seems to be about Peter and Gwen, with a bunch of subplots meshed together around that. I feel like the movie didn't really have a central theme or plot, which makes it feel like a mess. It's just like, a bunch of random events happening. Like and hour and a half in I don't think it had a well defined plot. Orci/Kurtzman sure know how to fuck up a story, but I won't blame them for the over emphasis on the parents thing since Sony were the ones who wanted to expand that to two films. I don't like the licensed music in this film, and feel like they should stop doing this.
Webb has some really nicely shot scenes here, and some oddly shot ones. I think overall the movie is better than the first one now. Although, I need to watch the first one again which I don't think I feel like doing anytime soon. But I feel like after watching this the first movie retroactively got slightly better. Lol.
