Here are some PS2 controllers that I have.

:)

wrote up a post about VF4EVO here, the game is truly in a league of its own! if you are collecting PS2 games and don't own 4EVO, a CIB copy is only around $5 these days.

Epic post. Good memories playing VF4 evo 11 years (sheesh!) ago.

Man, this is going to be hard, lol. Too many exclusives above 40+ bucks range(even around 100 for a few). Wish I got them earlier, but hey, I was playing other games.

How do PS2s play on LED TVs? I've got a Samsung 40" G 6300 series TV, don't have any CRTs laying around. My phatty died a while back and I've been wanting to get a slim to play so many gems I've missed.

If its got component inputs, you should be alright. Granted it wont look as good as a CRT with component, but it'll be alright.

Any component cable should be fine?
Or do I have to get something like this?

I'd say try to get an official Sony component cable yeah. Any compatible should work...but I had problems back in the day with a Psyclone cable and Megaman X8.

I'm sure you could find some official sony cables for cheaper than that though.

Yeah, I have the same issue. I only got a PS2 less than a year ago and have been lapping up everything I missed. I'm down to just needing the Shadow Hearts series, Silent Hill 2+3+4, Suikoden 3+4+5, and Wild Arms 4+5, most of which are above the "old PS2" game price

That series is evil when it comes to prices, lol. For the 1st one I would have to pay like 90+ bucks for a new copy.

Yeah, I roll with the Sony one. Never gave me any problems.

Thanks for your input guys, going to check a local mom n' pop gaming shop tomorrow for official sony ones.

Luckily I'm not opposed to used, even if it's just the disc. First one appears to be $32 on Amazon (up from the $25 a couple weeks ago...), Covenant is $27, and From the New World is $20. I can actually deal with all those prices, nothing terrible.

Suikoden V is like $60, which is "I'd better be invested" territory. Catch-22: if I wait too long, the price will only go up.

Man, seeing this brings me back. Ps2 was an awesome console. Maybe it's not the console itself, but all the fun friends and I would have. Playing vs., passing controller when you die, ... waiting til everyone is around so you can all keep playing thru FF games. Yeah, those were the days.

Yeah, prices are really unpredictable at this point. I started collecting most of my PS1 stuff back in 07-08 and some titles are worth less than they were back then (Valkyrie Profile) while some are worth way more (the Mega Man Legends series, including Tron Bonne--I sold a complete black label copy of MML1 back in early '08 that only went for $3!). Right now we're seeing a rise on a lot of games (I'd argue that it's because GS has finally stopped carrying them leading people to think "oh shit! I better pick up -insert title here- while I can!), but I'd guess that some of them will go back down. I totally expect prices on PS2 stuff to fluctuate up and down even more over the next few years.

For example, I picked up my Suikoden V off eBay back in '10 for $30 and it came with the strategy guide, so its price has pretty much doubled over the past few years. I got lucky and scored my Rule of Rose at GS for $20 in '11 when it was going for $60 or so and it's already jumped to the $100 range. Hell, Haunting Ground was going for $30ish at that point and it already jumped to $80 or so.

Luckily, I only have a few of the pricey titles left (Jurassic Park, KoF 02/03, and a few others) and I got super lucky picking up a lot of the more valuable games early on for cheap. I'd really hate trying to get some of those games at this point.

Holy fucking shit, they should turned them over into National Library for games.

Seriously! I can only dream of getting that many.

I loved the first one when I was in high school and I've always wanted to go back and play the rest of the games. The tank controls were the only things keeping me from going back, though. Might try it sometime.

Dislike tank controls myself but I found Onimusha pulled them off a lot better than RE. I just felt much more comfortable in comparison.

I really lucked out finding an official PS2 component cable at a yard sale for 50 cents. It's leagues better than the third-party one I had earlier.

Brand new? Weren't these only distributed with the original printing of DDS1 along with the soundtrack as a package?

Yep. The guy's description says these were leftovers that he got through some distribution channels at Atlus. Makes sense since he has other items up like the Wizardry case+manual, Magna Carta artbook, and DDS manuals.

I remember Atlus was selling the SMT Nocturne soundtrack that came with the game as a standalone thing on their web store so I guess this is similar.

I've been playing Raw Danger these days (unfortunately I've got a burned copy, but will get it NTSC as the PAL release can get expensive) and I love disaster games. There aren't enough of them.
Following up on that, lately my brother bought about 3 Burnout games (3, Revenge and Dominator), R-Racing and Sub Rebellion (underrated game this one). I've bought Half-Life 2, Urban Chaos: Riot Response and Gun. They were an averange of £1.50 each so I'm quite satisfied.

Half Life 2 never came out on PS2. It's probably the first one.

Great thread. I've recently been collecting PS2 games again. Good and bad. I love me some bad games as well. I know.... crazy!

Some of the ones I've been able to nab:

Rule of Rose
Haunting Ground
Shadow hearts 1-3
Grandia 2 and 3
Raw Danger
Castlevania Lament of Innocence
Maximo vs The Army of Zin
Bad Boy Miami Take Down
Sphinx Curse of the Mummy
The Mummy Returns
The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon
Summoner
Winback
Winback 2
Gauntlet Dark Legacy
Warrior of Might and Magix
Shifters
Van Helsing
Crash Twin Sanity
Crash Wrath of Cortex
Kya Dark Lineage
Rune Viking Warlord
Indiana Jones and the Emperors Tomb
Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings
Pitfall The Lost Expedition
Wizardry The Forsaken Land
Extermination

I have a few more I can't recall off the top of my head and many more to collect but it's a start.

I was literally just talking about how I needed Silent Hill: Shattered Memories a few days ago and it turns out that someone traded in a copy to my store yesterday. Woohoo!

Speaking of which, a local store has a copy of Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis CIB for $50 and I'm considering getting it. I've been actively looking for a cheap copy in the wild for a few years now and I've never run into one under $50 (even though I got a copy of the Xbox version for $15 last summer), so I'm just about to say fuggs it and eat the $50.

$20

First arcade stick I've ever owned, fitting since I'm delving into fighting games with Third Strike :)

Apparently a very good arcade stick for adapters as well (Ps3 and PC along with dreamcast even)

I remember the PS2 launch.

I skipped school and went to Richmond mall in a blizzard to buy the console. Keep in mind, I was on the bus. 3 hours later and the longest walk up a dark street in an unnamed section of Cleveland, I played the console.

Most of that launch lineup wasn't shit in retrospect. People shit on console launches right now well imagine twitter back then for "The Bouncer". Something tells me a full priced 30 minute Bouncer backlash could rival or trump the Forza controversy.

Outside of that, I loved the console. The PS2 had everything.

Ordered yesterday the Ethernet Adaptor from Amazon. It was £30 (£5 actually, as I've received a £25 off voucher at work) and sealed. At least I can play my imports on it with HD Loader or Open PS2 Loader!

You're right, rushed that post a bit. It's just Half-Life. Still I think it's a good port.

It actually had mouse and keyboard support! I remember playing it once with mouse for aiming and half the PS2 controller for walking! Played a lot of deathmatch and coop in it with a friend, good times!

Oh, didn't know that! I'll give it a try as there are also a few additions in terms of models and maps, and also wanted to try the Decay mode.

So there's 2 games that I'm really trying to recall the names of, but I just can't. Both are character action games somewhat similar to devil may cry.

First one the only thing I recall was that you were killing robots with crazy amounts of arterial spray. I feel like it was red, but I know that you could unlock different colors including rainbow blood.

Second I know even less about. Feel like the first level was in a bamboo forest, and there was a very floatly feel to jumps I believe. feel like it started with a B.

If anyone knows what they might be that would be cool. They were definitely 100% ps2 games.

Actually before posting I realized that the first was a Konami game. That one was Nano Breaker.

The second game definitely came out around the same time.

Edit- second was Bujingai
