Sega Genesis/MegaDrive Appreciation Thread: Alien Storm > Golden Axe

Personally, I decided against the 32X because I'm honestly more interested in checking out the Power Base Converter and the library of Master System games than I am the five or so games I'd have interest in on the 32X.

Also, the 32X wouldn't be compatible with my S-Video mod, which was what prevented me from even considering it pre-RGB, and I'd have to get an all-new Model 2 RGB cable to go that route, too.

True ballers own a real Master System.

Sega seeked to remedy the problem themselves

Unfortunately this power strip is hella expensive now. Would be a nice piece to have.
I saw one at last year's Portland Retro Gaming Expo. If I remember correctly, they wanted $200 for it. D:

EDIT: It may have actually been more, but for the life of me I can't remember. I just know it was too rich for my blood.

For Lunar Silver Star, you'd be my hero.

I looked at an official game in the same style like I did for my Saturn ones. Kept the US artwork because it's awesome.

Keep in mind I have no clue if this is the right size or not. Got the size from cover sites. If you can test it out for me I guess I can change the image and all that.

I've owned the game since it first came out. It's crappy, but at least you feel like you have some control over your character.

I cannot say the same about the original Street Fighter. I've never played a game that controlled so absolutely terribly. I don't know how the hell I ever made it to Adon (and maybe Sagat?). It took me hours, though, because doing anything in the game besides hitting Start is a complete pain. Doing a special move is complete luck. Hell, the game doing what you want it to at all is luck.

Even the Action 52 stuff controls better than Street Fighter.

I've played just about every fighting game out there, and I'd say that Street Fighter 1 is probably the worst one.

The real fighting is you versus the controls.

Street Fighter does have those amazing voice clips, though. Hah.

Mortal Kombat Advance comes really close in on worst fighting game, though, but I haven't played it for more than a few minutes, if even that.

Rygar 8 Bit

Jaguar 64-bit
karate champ i think takes the world title for worst fighting game the only saving grace of that game is the music and the digitized announcer

I honestly think the arcade version is kind of fun.

I had to play that in one round of a mystery tournament once. It was hype.

How did Sunsoft blow everyone away on the NES, and then just fell off for 16 bit?

They published the game but it was developed by Condor Inc (Blizzard North)

Similarly, Blaster Master 2 was developed by Software Creations.

I'm not sure if any of Sunsoft's Genesis games were developed in-house.

According to the history of Diablo over at Gametrailers, it's directly responsible for Diablo being created. :)

Whaaat?

i think so, that's also on my list...great rental in the day, solid game

bumping this one up higher in my queue cause of this post

Having beaten Predator 2, its 100% a fun little arcade shooter. Nothing ground-breaking, but certainly a better game then most of the licensed stuff that came out during the era.

I might have to give this one a look myself.

Meh, I don't fret about whatever sort of standard others have. As with any other shirts I typically stay away from bright/flamboyant colors and logos or art that cover more than half the shirt in that plastic that gets cracked over time. But that's just me or what I think does or doesnt look nice on me. Other people can pull off clothing that I can't so I can't really say objectivelly that x or y kind of clothing are terrible. I've seen people with Game of Thrones shirts. I don't consider them any differnetly and I think its more fun to express something more personal like that than having Tommy or Aeropostal printed in massive text on someone's shirt.

Looks nice!

I can't believe there are people in the rest of the boards who'd call me a neckbeard or fedora atheist for this. Good thing opinions here don't seem to hold up in real life.

i suspect that element is some crossover from virgin-age who have a thousand rules on how to maybe get girls. I have no idea why anyone anywhere would listen to them; wear what you want & think you can pull off. I try to stay fit so i don't really think twice about whether i can pull or not wearing a MUSHA shirt, nor would i let such a concern affect the casual end of my wardrobe.

granted, that expand dong one might be a stretch for me, but yellow's a tricky color for formal events~

Ninja my man! I can't really say where this stigma comes from, but I thought it might be that sort of thing too. Whenever this issue comes up on gaf I feel like I'm the one on crazy pills. lol

Wait so, can girls wear game clothes?

That's a great shirt, but damn, that's a bit pricey. How's the quality of the shirts?

Excellent. I've tried buying various video game shirts online and they are usually so thin and crappy they stretch/warp after a washing or two. These are thicker - not particularly soft, so don't think like a shirt that's going to make someone want to hug you. But they're durable and comfortable. There's a thread on the Shmups forum I think with more impressions:

Okay, so now a complete copy of Musha with reg. card goes for $400+? I shouldn't be complaining but that is insane.

I know Sparkster is inferior to the first game, but is it still worth getting? Seems like a solid game.

It is, but I felt the level designs and controls didn't quite fit as it's more exploration focused while Sparkster is still super fast. Also the bosses often make you wait around for a time window in which you can hit them.
