Ubisoft: "We won't be showing off any Nintendo games at E3 this year"

Damn. When Ubisoft gives up on you, you know you're in serious trouble.

My first thought too. Ubi was one of the few who actually sticked with the WiiU in all this time; the delay of Watch Dogs and this, well, it seems they're moving away from it too now.

Hey cool I wasn't gonna buy any Ubi games this year anyway.

Yep... exactly. I even reversed my decision on getting Watch Dogs. The only open world game for me, will be the Sleeping Dogs / Triad Wars universe. Sorry Ubisoft, so far, the only good game I've enjoyed from you guys, has been Child of Light!

It's almost assuredly an answer to a direct question asked in an interview, potentially by the person who wrote the article. Not some proclamation of disdain from the roof tops.

Why are 3rd parties abandoning the Wii U?

Why wouldn't they? The platform has been a sales disappointment-- even before the PS4 and XBO arrived. Software sales of not-Nintendo games have been weak at best.

Third-party development, unless it's at least partially funded by Nintendo, is wasted time and money.

AC: Comet to be only PS3/360?

And I can't blame them. As a Wii U owner, I didn't bought any of the AssCreed games for Wii U. I did bought ZombiU, Rayman and Child of Light, though. And If Comet is (very) good, and is not on PC, I probably would had bought it.

Well it's expected. Can't believe there won't be another Just Dance on Wii but I suppose maybe not an E3 announcement?

Still Wii U is in pretty dire straits

Of course! Games made by Nintendo (Nintendo games) have no reason to be on Ubisoft conference.

True answer, they said last year they would drop support, and that's what they did. Shocking news I guess.

As the writer of the story, I'll chime in and say I still think there will be a Just Dance or something from Ubisoft this year. It just won't be at E3. While it's not a stretch to take this news as "Ubisoft's winding down Wii U development," it doesn't guarantee that. It just means they won't be showing anything that is coming to Nintendo platforms at E3.

As of this minute, the only upcoming Wii U game we know about is Watch Dogs. A new Just Dance is likely, but it seems like Ubisoft won't be highlighting it at E3 if that is the case. That would be different from every E3 since Just Dance was first released, as those games usually have space at both Ubisoft and Nintendo's booths.

And for further details, as a Nintendo-focused site, we have always had a reason to check out Ubisoft's booth, even if it was like last year when we tried to find out specifics about Watch Dogs and Splinter Cell on Wii U while watching gameplay demos of the other versions. We don't have a reason to do that this year.

EDIT: Also, the wording is weird like "Nintendo games" because it encapsulated Wii U and 3DS games. The comment was a response to asking if there would be any Wii U or 3DS games at Ubisoft's booth this year.

Does that mean nintendo exclusives or just games that won't appear on any of their platforms?

That would be my question; may just mean no exclusives (and if that's the case, it would need the SHOCKING NEWS tag). I can't imagine them not launching Just Dance on Wii and/or Wii U.

This.

Just goes to show, no matter how much a developer may admire Nintendo's mission to create new playing experiences - money talks.
To be fair, they've actively screwed up their chances for success with the delays of Rayman and Watch Dogs.

so no new Rayman at E3.

Or am I misinformed that the WiiU version of Legends and also the Wii Version of Origins sold best (console versions)?

If this means Just Dance won't take up conference time, thank god. Maybe companies are finally learning that showing off those types of games just waste valuable time on people who couldn't care less? I'd be incredibly happy if that's the case.

Oldie but a goodie but wii u am cry :(

If Ubi is done with the Wii U then, for all intents and purposes, Western development on the Wii U has ceased.

Looking at the schedule in Japan I don't think 3rd support is any better there really. Two multi-platform licensed games from Namco seems to be all in the near future. And Zelda Musou in August (if that counts). There's still more western multi-platform games. That's how sad their 3rd party situation is.

They could show Watch Dogs, no? Unless it's not happening at all, which is my bet.

Come on, you know better than that. It was in the presentation at the Q4 financial report, it was confirmed by Ubisoft several times, it is in the interview with the head of Nintendo France:

Beaucoup de sorties de jeux seront officialisés lors du salon de l'E3, mais vous savez déjà que nous allons sortir le jeu d'action Bayonnetta 2. D'ici à la fin de l'année, il y aura également le nouveau Skylanders, le nouveau Disney Infinity, Sonic Boom, Watch Dogs ou Zelda Hyrule Warriors

how long until we hear watch dogs wii u cancelation?

This close to being done? I'd say the chances are small that Ubi pulls the plug. I certainly wouldn't dismiss the possibility, but all the right things have been said that lead me believe that it's still coming-- for better or for worse.

Is Far Cry 4 using the same new engine as the "next gen" only version of Assassins Creed?

If so...that would be awesome. It seems to be capable of some very nice visuals if that initial reveal trailer is to be believed.

There's no reason for Ubisoft to present the Wii U version of Watch Dogs at E3. Don't start again with this shit.

it's not like their games were helping, they werent selling any wii u's and they werent selling well on their own for that matter. Ubisoft might as well not have been there because they made 0 dent what so ever, their franchises don't have pull. Any future game wouldn't have made a single difference to Wii U's situation, the only thing that could increase Wii U's sales is nintendo games, not ports of some what popular franchises.

Hey, I'm just being honest, come at me if you want

There's still more Wii U's in people's homes than Xbox One's.

It's just that the third parties don't have as big sales on Wii U compared to Xbox One.

Anyone know how well the most recent Just Dance games sold on Wii and Wii U?

Well, damn.
What does Nintendo have left?

Activision is (probably) still kicking around-- at least with Skylanders & (maybe) CoD. I think that WBIE is still there, too, in limited fashion (LEGO games).

Major third-party support is slim, but there. Still looks to be Nintendo flying essentially solo, with indies as a co-pilot and some recognizable third-party support from time to time.

Given sales outside of Raymen & Just Dance, I'm not surprised.

I'll be surprised if there is no Wii U Just Dance at E3. But E3 isn't really a place to show that series off.

Yep saw this coming (who didn't?).

Wii U will be Indies and First Party with some exclusives they already paid for from Third Party.

In regards to Third Party ports, devs just have no reason to do it anymore. The Gamepad does make some of the experience better on Wii U for some games but they will always be viewed as inferior on the system due to performance vs. PS4XB1. Hence no purchases.

I bought both AC games on Wii U and both are the only games for the system that I sold back later.

Both were laggy messes. Though I hope that if there is another Rayman game, sooner or later, it'll be on it.

AC/WD and the likes? I'll go elsewhere to play these.
