Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

Juan should definitely be the 8th leader again. Wallace could be champion. Steven can be the post-game trainer in Sky Pillar or something.

I'd say the fact that nobody in Nintendo except maybe Monolith soft has any exprience with MMO type systems, the nature of pokemon as a monster capture game, and the sheer variety of pokemon that exist are what makes it unsuited to be an MMO. Think of it like this: Each pokemon would essentially be a unique character class. Even if they were more limited than normal, it'd be insane to have more than 30-40 pokemon available from the get go, but that's so limited that it kind of defeats the point of Pokemon.

I also don't think pokemon has anything to gain from MMOs. I think people just like this idealized fantasy version of a Pokemon MMO in their heads based off nostalgia for the anime that would never, ever work in reality because it ignores the limitations of reality like cost, resources, limited time, the experience of the developers, and much much more

I wish they would add pokedex as an option in battles, and add types even just for seen Mons. Would be cool to have an optional libra-like function. Would also make the series even easier for people to get into. I'd say that now that everything is so streamlined, Pokemon typing is the only thing that is left to confuse people. (Lol evs/IVs could be a little better explained too.)

But that's the defference between saying "Theatrhythm was a good game" and saying "Final Fantasy XVI should be a 3rd person, cover based shooter".

I don't know what other people have been arguing, but I'm just responding to people saying that a game in the same universe as mainline games that don't have the same genre or gameplay are somehow pointless. The Pokemon series already has a ton of spinoff games ranging from Party games, to action-y games, to a racing games. I don't see an MMO getting made anytime soon since that would require a lot of resources to do right, but I also don't see anything wrong with wanting one or that it somehow wouldn't "fit" the Pokemon universe.

I also find it kinda funny that you bring up Final Fantasy as your analogy, since that actually made not one but two mainline games into MMOs.

Yeah, first time I ever had to use "Struggle" to win in any In-Game fight IIRC.
Yup. I didn't have trouble with Whitney's infamous Miltank in Pokémon Silver, but Juan's Kingdra though...

Speaking of bitches, Roxanne's Nosepass can be one too, depending of the Pokémon you have at that point in the game.

Pokémon doesn't need to be an MMO. It wouldn't work in a standard MMO formula. It'd be weird to do raid type content and end game would just be grinding the E4 for whatever reason. The Pokémon as characters doens't matter as you literally just copy and paste stats and move lists etc from the most recent game. The difficulty in an MMO would be availability of Pokémon and balance for wild ones etc.

Anyway, what Pokémon needs isn't an MMO. It needs a Dark Souls like online experience. Like, have it have the usual 8 gyms and and whatnot that the games always have but in an 'online' world. You occasionally see other trainers about, you can challenge (invade) them (if they are within a certain level range or something). You can help others out in double battles if they call for help or something. Something to make the game world feel a bit more alive and help vs matches not just be EV trained lvl 50 over used pokémon but battles throughout the level range of the game.

The issue comes from the "shared game world" element. Specifically, how wild Pokémon encounters are handled.

Imagine for a moment that you're playing a massively multiplayer version of RBY. You get to Viridian Forest and decide to catch a Pikachu. You're having having no luck, but you see another trainer battling one! So you swoop in and catch it. YEAH, NINTENDO WILL LET THAT HAPPEN.

So only the trainer who initiates a battle can catch a wild Pokémon. You see that trainer about to catch a Pikachu and decide that "if you can't have one, nobody can" and faint every one they find until they give up. YEAH, NINTENDO WILL LET THAT HAPPEN.

"Trainers cannot interact with another trainer's wild battle." THEN WHAT IS THE POINT
What? An MMO where battles are instanced makes perfect sense to me. What is the point? The point is a version of the game where the multiplayer aspects (trading, battling, acquisition of knowledge) are seamlessly integrated into the main adventure.

Super training needs to be minigames where you actually train with your pokemon and can see them in minigames.

All the super training minigames should center the relationship between trainer and pokemon, so it could be like you'd have to instruct your pokemon when to push themselves, when to cool down, when to give up and the pokemon will comply based on their friendship, nature and other criteria.

They should also make sense within the context of the stat your trying to boost. 6 different minigames that each have the theme of HP/ATK/DEF/SPA/SPD/SPE

"It was a great idea to catch a Nincada before the Gym."

How many % of Pokemon (let's say, narrowing it down to evolutionary lines, equivalent no evolution Pokemon, and legendaries) should have mega evolutions? Is the end goal for all them to have it?

100% of fully evolved (including the likes of Dunsparce) and legendary Pokémon should eventually get meta evolutions, in my opinion. In fact, I'd love if they started focusing more on mega evolutions than in new Pokémon in the future generations.

Ideally it should only happen for mons that need it, but XY already threw that hope in the trash, so I guess it'll reach 100% eventually with popular stuff getting priority.

Does basically every competitive team have a mega evo on it? Haven't played X/Y.

Mega Evo's were almost universally used the last time I checked, but there were some people who chose not to use them.

It is worth noting that the last time I played was when Mega Khan and Mega Gar were running rampant.

TBH, I like having Steven as the ultra-champion in the cave.

I don't know, it felt like they were trying so hard to make Steven a Red clone and it didn't come off right.

Steven is better of being the champion,

Hopefully 0%, but what will probably will happen is that Game Freak will give it to the popular Pokémon.

Duck no, they already did that crap in Pokémon X and Y and the Pokémon count suffered as a result of it.

Plus the fact that Mega don't count as New Pokémon.

Had to post this...it's just...just amazing ok...if you're in the UK you'll get it

Ha ha that's awesome. Duck UKIP, such a racist party.

Just preordered on Amazon. I am ready.

Have mainline Pokemon games ever had preorder bonuses?

That's the only reason why I haven't preordered yet. Figured after more info was revealed, they might reveal some preorder bundles. I don't necessarily mean in game content, but just anything extra.

I remember Platinum and HGSS having small figurines of Giratina, Ho-Oh, and Lugia. I don't remember if the BW series or XY had anything.
