The Order: 1886 Delayed Into 2015. [Stop talking about MS lineup]

The "No Games" conversation is more targeted to the idea of the console war. AAA Exclusives are what sell consoles - that's a long-proven fact. Sony's lacking any major wide-appeal AAA exlcusive this year, and it will hurt them in the long run. For the sake of the game, this is the best decision. For the sake of Sony, it's one of the worst.

Maybe you need to go look up what the meaning of the word 'fact', you got some long booking learning ahead of you.

I just wish companies were more transparent in why it is being delayed. Obviously, they say that they aim to improve the quality of the game, but what aspects needed to be polished further?

It is what it is I guess, bummer that it's delayed though.

Nothing counts for people who claim PS4 has no games.

Multiplats - not games
F2p - not games
indies - DEFINITELY NOT games
AAA exclusives - the only things that are actually games

Each console only has about 10 games for an entire generation. PC hasn't had any games since Witcher 1 (arguable if this is even constitutes AAA).

They're all games, and some great ones too, but they're not why people buy these $400 systems, don't kid yourself. What differentiates PS4 from the competition if not their first party studio? Is that the whole reason we have competitors?

Which is why Sony makes a lot of AAA exclusives. Look at their history. People buy knowing that as well.

And if you know your history, AAA exclusives games WiLL come to Sony and sometimes even more than their competitor so why should we worry?
I have no doubt that the PS4 will have great titles but its fair to point out that its failing pretty bad in its output thus far. E3 could paint a completely different picture.

There are already 11 games I want this year so a delay is welcome.

There was rumours of an Uncharted Collection as well we might get that an the end of the year.

I thought we all saw this coming? No game would show limited information if it was suppose to release in a couple of months.

I wouldn't be surprised if Destiny got delayed a little. Quote me to this day if it does.

DelayStation 4

Greatness waits.

Happy about the delay. Now I get to focus on destiny, evolve, drive club, batman, COD, evil within, and sunset overdrive. This fall is super crowded, so I'm happy for the push back. Now my wallet can rest lol

Compare to ms line up "which we shouldn't bring up so look it up yourself" but the production has been very similar or close. It's not like they are behind by a lot of exclusive games. So how is that failing bad?

Have to admit the delay is fine by me. There is SERIOUSLY way too much coming out this fall and I would never be able to afford it anyway. Polish it up while I (try to) play everything else. I'm still running through Bitterblack Isle ffs! At this rate I'll have all the rare equipment by September. :-\

People don't buy systems for third party games ? Really man.

Seriously? 1st parties differentiate a platform? Did you look into the list of top selling games of all times recently? 1st parties are nice and is often a reason to buy the console for someone who already have another but in no way they are the main selling point of any platform - especially Sony's one. People buy consoles to play big games and most of big games are multiplatform.

I'm gonna be really disappointed if Driveclub is Sony's only big PS4 release this year.

That isn't good enough.

To say the bloody least.

Precisely! The apologists need to stop trying to rationalize and discount this as anything, but a major blunder.

It already did. Was supposed to be spring 2014, now it's September.

Don't kid yourself, the vast majority of people buy $400 systems to play CoD on their TV.

In case you forgot multiplats is number one on that list you quoted.

So its official now. While I always expected this and I prefer a polished game to a rushed game it is still disappointing. This year now looks extremely bleak. Last year brought us The Last of Us, GTA V and Tearaway, each of them having GOTY quality. This year the best games will be GTA V PS4 and TLoU PS4. Re-hashes of last year. (Infamous probably will be my GOTY but Second Son is not as good as Infamous 2 was).

Um I purchased my ps4 for the f2p and PC ports and for the MMO's on the system (warframe/DC universe final fantasy)

So we people do exist (but I'm not a PC gamer)

Are y'all really trying to tell me ppl don't buy systems for cod or Fifa ?

Considering Cod: Ghosts is the top selling game on both PS4/Xbone I disagree with the exclusives sells systems. It helps the catalog but really Sony and Microsoft actually try to make money selling their games.

Well that sure took some of the wind out of Sony's sails for the holidays. I mean, I certainly do appreciate that they're raking their time to deliver a great game, but man this was like the game I was looking forward to on PS4 this winter.

I wouldn't write off those other games as well. If those games perform better than their competitor and connects to a TV (my rig is to large for that) then those are reason that can be factored into the purchase as well.

maybe they can add a coop mode with the delay?

This. A million times this.

So sick of the lack of coop in Sony's first party games. To me and my friends, a coop campaign is the one feature that will get us to buy a game at launch. Otherwise we usually wait for the bargain bin.

Not sure why we keep seeing this type of comment over and over again. Is it that hard to understand that many people buy PS4 to play 3rd party games, especially when many of those games are superior on PS4?

Not all opinions are equal. I have a gaming PC when I bought my ps4. A majority if not all multiplats/f2p/indies are also on the pc. So yea some of us only look at exclusives or multiconsole exclusives.

But wait! Didn't the 360 predicate itself on the fact that it ran all of the last gen multiplats better than PS3, prompting people to buy that instead of PS3 in NA? Exclusives can help sell a system true, but it's not the sole reason why people buy one system over anymore.

Before this delay was announced we assumed we were mostly getting cross gen titles on all systems. One delay doesn't change that much. Third parties are as much to blame as the first parties. Everyone in the third party scene is scared as shit of going next gen only due to the costs. I'm just glad studios like Rocksteady have balls. In fact, I hope Rocksteady starts a trend of licensed next gen only titles developed by top tier developers given plenty of time to make their products. Quality licensed titles might be the safe bet in such costly times.

They better be careful with that "early 2015" talk, PS4 delays are some epic shit. Watch Dogs delayed for like seven months, DriveClub almost a year. Shit's bound to be released Fall 2015.

A perceived better online system with their chat and later party chat system helped too.

No surprise after the thread yesterday. Hopefully the new release window is less crowded. A lot of these delayed games seem to come out within weeks of each other just before the end of the fiscal year.

Having the best console version is better than exclusives(for attracting sales) so you can say the best versions are exclusive to Sony. I think Sony is learning they don't need to rely on their exclusives anymore. Which is good because now they can really polish them instead of rushing them out the door.

I agree. Sony was smart this time around to work with developers to make the console relatively easy to work with, in addition to having more capable hardware over the competition. Its a simple marketing point that also allows them to become the de facto demonstration box for developers.

3rd party games sell more consoles than any exclusive.
Call Of Duty/FIFA/Battlefield will dominate the sales charts this year.

+1 from me on that, for single player stuff, always wait for really really good price or ps+ , if it has some multi or coop action on it, I would consider day 1...
but on the other hand, dang looks really really good :)

Because the average Joe who buys a PS4 from Walmart has a SLI-TITAN PC at home to enjoy all of Steam's offerings on his 4k monitor, right?

The problem with this site is that the community exists in a bubble and half the time believes that their perception, and enthusiast knowledge, is commonplace.

90%, or more, of all the software sold on a console is 3rd party (Nintendo and their business model aside). 3rd party software is why people buy these consoles, and most folks dont give two-shits if the game is, or has been, on other platforms. Its all new and shiny for them.

You'd have to be pretty thick to assume they could shoehorn in a MP mode because of an extra few months of development.

Bargain bin for you I guess.

You just lumped a 3rd party title in there for no conceivable reason.

Makes me wonder what they're going push as their big title for the holidays. Probably Destiny.

Hard to say, maybe Planetside 2 ? Maybe Project beast is released this fall. Destiny will certainly look like an exclusive the way Sony will market it. Heck, Im seeing Destiny commercials already. My guess is that when they discovered that Quantum Break will not be out till next year, they probably felt alot less pressure to make sure the order was released this year. I cant see them being worried over Sunset Overdrive, Halo remake will definately sell some, although Sony has The last of us remake .
