Gamespot rumor: Big third-party Xbox One exclusive at E3

I think this E3 we're going to see Microsoft go after the core in the same way PS4 did last E3, and is still doing. In that respect Shenmue 3 would be a pretty big title, even people on Gaf who don't play the Shenmue games would probably consider Shenmue 3 being made as big/interesting news, though as you can probably tell from my avatar I may be being blinded by love.

From a selfish standpoint I hope it isn't as it would mean forking over £350 for an Xbone, and I think it has a better chance of success as multi platform game.

The only single game that would get me tk buy an X1 is a new Lost Odyssey, but that wouldn't be a moneyhat, MS owns the IP so it'd just be them funding. Honestly, there's no game MS could moneyhat that would push me towards. Mayne Fallout 4 if it was completelu exclusive.

I disagree. Chances are, if you are an early adopter of hardware, you've done this before and are more than likely a hardcore gamer. I've never played Shenmue before, but I know its following and acclaim. Wouldn't that be a huge get for MS?: a hardcore, fan-favorite frachise thats slighty more associated with Xbox console that others, especially during this transition period.

Titanfall, Evolve, WD, etc arent big... yet. It takes a couple entries to get up there. And I have no idea wtf a Homefront is, except a shooter. Can't see that being big.
 
When it is announced the only thing I will be thinking is great I have to wait 2 years to play that on PS4.

They are burning through that Billion dollars like it is no one's business.
 
Hopefully it's the PG game. Don't want them to moneyhat existing franchises like Dragon's Dogma, Fallout or RE. That's f'ing lame.
 
The only - literally only - 3rd party game that I would personally consider a big exclusive, is Half Life 3.

So I am already disappointed because I know this will not be the game.

In the final hours of Titanfall it says they were running out of money. And EA wouldn't pony up anymore dosh.

They asked Sony if they could talk to them about the next Playstation, but Sony constantly said they weren't ready to discuss. "Third party exclusive" as in an exclusive sequel to an existing third party franchise, or a new IP exclusive from a big publisher like EA, or a new exclusive title from a third party developer?

Why do you have to be so vague Gamespot?
 
This is so vague, but if it's a Gamespot rumor then it's probably a western game. Fallout or Mass Effect would be huge. Deus Ex maybe?

It's very possible, but only if Crytek has really reworked it into a show-stopping sort of game. There's nothing unique about another gritty FPS for Microsoft - so the tech has to be outstanding.

It'd definitely be big news with the hardcore crowd, Neogaf would probably go crazy. I meant more in terms of sales though I guess it just depends on what GS means by "big".

Homefront was okay, I'd play a new one but I would never buy a console for it

I want MS to get their own identity. If Phil Spencer's aim is to simply copy Sony and do everything they did, then that's no what I'm looking for. (In my opinion)

You know, I'm still a little skeptical about this whole story. I should make it clear I have absolutely no evidence to the contrary, but it seems odd that ea were going to back out. Considering that ea would love to make cod money and respawn contains the key members behind that franchise, it seems like a risk worth taking. How expensive could it really have been? Respawn are a small team and given the lack of single player, it doesn't seem like it would have been too expensive compared to ea's other projects. Or have we just got to the point that EA aren't willing to take risks anymore despite the massive income their titles generate? If so, that's fucking sad.
 
The Last Guardian. bah already done. Can't really imagine what third party would go for an exclusivity deal at this point. Dragon's Dogma sequel maybeP
 
The only thing at Microsoft's conference that would excite me is if their first party output improved beyond the usual suspects. I wouldn't be excited about them getting a third party exclusive because that's less pressure for their first party studios to deliver.

If it's Dragon's Dogma, it's not a moneyhat. It's a funding situation, in which case they'd deserve exclusivity much like Nintendo deserves it for saving Bayonetta 2. As for Fallout, that'll never happen.

Bioshock? Maybe Mass Effect 2, but there may have been some sort of deal with EA, since MS established the series. Maybe MS let EA release the game on PC so soon (Jade Empire took a long time) in exchange for timed exclusivity on the second? Just a guess.

Edit: Also, I'm going to give a complete random guess and say Prince of Persia as the third party exclusive.

If it's something like Dead Rising 3 or Bayonetta 2, there's a chance this said game may not exist without one party stepping in to nab it as an inclusive.
Or maybe it'll be a Titanfall, where the PC gets to remain a non-compete zone.

There are definitely third party exclusives to be had, but it's probably not worth it to spend on the scale of a Titanfall again. There are developers with new or stagnant IP (Sunset Overdrive and Dead Rising 3 for example) that wouldn't cost all that much to tie-up for a game that could help fortify the Xbone's library. Beyond Good and Evil 2 perhaps?
 
Can be interpreted many ways. For starters what constitutes a "big" reveal? Secondly you can have an exclusive reveal at your conference of a multiplatform game, a la Destiny or Call of Duty.
 
The only exclusive MS could get to make me buy a X1 would be Fallout 4, but Zenimax loves money too much to let that happen (given the adoption rate of the X1/PS4).

Cyberpunk ending up as a Microsoft exclusive would be hilarious to watch, but also painful because it means I will purchase an XBox ONE. (Unless it's just console exclusive...)

I still doubt that game is even hitting before 2016 though, so it's a moot prediction.

I guess but would SE do it. Putting it only on X1 would pretty mich guarantee failure. I think they'll do it when they're ready, I doubt money is an issue since it's pretty much a guaranteed hit so long as they don't mess it up (which admittedly is asking a lot of current SE). I take it they're saving it as their ace in the hole if they ever need a last ditch effort to save themselves
