Could you elaborate more. I feel like I agree in certain respects but it was very much a Souls game.
2 tries to place itself in dark souls 1 world, but never ever substantiates this insinuation. Most sections of lore are just plain missing. Dark Souls 1 never had a "give 1 piece of lore and let people run with it" it had a complete world that was just scattered and needed to be pieced together.
No explanation of the core story, final badguy wasn't even hinted at until 2/3rds the way through the game. Their motivations are unclear and non-sensical. then on the 2nd playthrough it is revealed that they are something else that makes this motivation make even less sense.
Less freedom to set your own direction early on.
Hard to find interesting/useful weapons for any build you want until half way through the game.
World lacking in saturation.
World lacks the build-up congestion that 1st one had.
Lack of texture all-around.
Much much worse level design, world doesn't connect seamlessly like dark souls 1.
No explanation why, even if the world is the same as 1, why certain things like dragons seem to be a-ok. (ignores story precedent from first game while trying to co-opt it's story.)
One single ending, devoid of player choice. Goes against what souls games stand for. Dialogue clearly say you have a choice but you don't.
The game literally makes no sense.
I can probably say more, and i have screenshots to illustrate a lot of these points, but i don't want to get nailed for spoiling everything
