E3 2014 pre-show photos (banners, show floor, etc.)

The attention to detail this person went to in order to make it seem legit is both strange and amazing. Normally you could just smack a pic on and some would believe it, but the lighting and texturing that's added really makes you wonder if it is fake.

... it is fake.

... >_> I am not believing this.

The font "Mario Maker" is in screams fake, if it was real, it'd probably be a stylised font.

I actually hope that leak is fake as a make your own original SMB level game would be pretty meh, imo. Nintendo already created outstanding level design in the original and they've further perfected it in almost every iteration since then. I can't imagine there would be too many outstanding levels created using it to outweigh the terrible ones (which show how good Nintendo really is at 2D platformers). It would be fun probably for an hour or two and then you'd be left wishing for an actual game.

Nintendo has been using projectors for their images since the NSMB fiasco.
Why would they suddenly change that with something like this and allow it to leak early?

You can't deny it's impossible. I agree that they'd want to be careful, but you never know.

Let's make bets on how many times that Mario Maker pic will get a thread and closed. It's up to 4 I think... I say 6 will be the end number.

We're 5 days out from people being there. It just seems way too early to have any signage up. Especially if it's some "big" unannounced game.

Looks like last year platform with some texture.
Do they repeat the game station design?

EDIT: Apparently, yes.

I think we have our hands on our first E3 leak, but that's just me. That has to at least be a real picture of SOME demo units SOMEWHERE (probably 3DS without the 3DS systems in place). Sure, you could have photoshopped the posters, but what's the source on the demo kiosks? Do they match previous E3s? Previous Nintendo tradeshows?

Oh, wow, those look like it. Nvm, might be a photoshopped image from last year's booth pics? Or they're just recycling last year's booths?

I'm not sure why Square Enix is spending all this money for advertisements of a half decade old port.

Seems bizarre, especially when FFXV and Kingdom Hearts 3 are rumored to be appearing.

I know for sure they had the same kiosks last year, and I think there were also the same or extremely similar the year before that as well (E3 2012) so it wouldn't be out of the question that they'd reuse it this year again (or it's just a shop of a photo from alst year as you said). It's been the same white with TV mounted and blue extension for all of the Wii U/3DS games since Wii U was announced I think. That's why I have high doubts it is anything but a shop of some hidden photo of set up from those years. That said, I've been unable to find any 'original' version of the picture from years past yet so that lends a bit of credibility to it either being real or a decent photoshop (that was made intentionally blurry to mask imperfections)..

I'd say the leak is real. There is no 'original' photo and last year, the Smash characters were not on standees anywhere in the booth. So someone would have had to

1) Get a unleaked photo
2) Add a poster to it (doing a great job at masking, too)

The second is standard. The first is not.

We've had more elaborate fakes before, though.

Mario Maker could be very interesting with alot of customization options and the ability to download levels from other people. Could be Nintendo's Little Big Planet.

The thing is, there's already hundreds if not thousands of fan made Mario levels on PC that you can play.

This just doesn't seem that appealing to me. I want hand crafted levels created by Nintendo, using brand new assets.

Makes a lot of sense with the gamepad.

From a while ago..

" Hayashida on the possibility of a Super Mario Bros. editor…
“I guess one way to respond to that is to give you a slightly different example. You may know that Excitebike has a level editor, and that’s something Mr. Miyamoto has worked on, so we’re certainly not opposed to the concept of introducing a level editor, but in my mind, it’s not really about the users having power or hurting the way the franchise is viewed, but rather, whether we can see the possibility to create a really unique and fun experience with that level editor. It’s not something we’ve explored in any detail yet with the Mario universe, but as with everything, if we sense a good idea and a good possibility, it’s certainly something we’d pursue.”

Nintendos been messing around with nes games lately, with NES Remix. So it doesnt seem farfetched.

If real, i hope we can edit/make sprites, and costum tunes.

The majority of Nintendo players haven't been exposed to this.

Miiverse also makes it that much better.

Yeah, it's not that appealing to me either, but if there is alot of customization it could become a cool thing. I just don't think Nintendo will take it where they need to and give that much customization. If it's confined to the Mario Universe it will be a failure.

Mario Maker makes no sense to me. The internet has making mario rom hacks and their own mario flash games for years now, so why would people pay for it?

People bought the NES Remix pack things Nintendo has put out and all those are, are ROM hacks.

I was originally pretty sour on it, but if they allowed for the creation of levels based on each of their 2D Mario games (original 3, World, NSMB even) it could be cool, especially if each level had the physics as the game/art style it was based on. I feel a game based only on assets of the original game could be a bit too limited considering there weren't too many powerups or enemies so hopefully they would include up assets/games up through SMW at the least.

This is me being stupidly picky and weird, but normally a poster doesn't jut out like that... it's more a sign of photoshopping.

edit: and I realise it could be due to low picture quality.

Because the portion of the internet that downloads and plays mario romhacks has probably the tiniest overlap with fans of mario games in general...

I can see them only using nes mario bro for it to be an easier, welcoming experience. Especially if you can edit sprites. Though with Nintendo, i can see them worried of what would show up.

Can someone post the gif of the Reverend with his hand on the girl's head as he announces all the ps4 game announcements? I need to laugh.

If that hand was photoshopped in, why would the person edit the hands appearance in that spot?

Sofa, effort, legit, flash sucks, gamepad, Nintendo Magic™

I think I might be on #TeamReal for this one. NES Remix is a good argument, and it's quite a Miiversey thing to do.

Well if it is real, I hope it's not that 90 minute discussion for the new 3DS game.
It's that isn't it?

The hand would have been added to the picture and then the picture added to the wall. It seems like it's a minute erasing mistake to try to match it to the shape of the wall.

errrrr.... what am I doing XD?

Maybe, although that could possibly be amazing if it included discussions with Miyamoto and/or Tezuka about designing SMB levels. Possibly even having them design a level live in front of the audience and then answering questions about the design process during/afterwards. I'd assume a game like that would have to come with at least some pre-built levels so it would be cool to see some stages designed by Miyamoto and other Mario/Nintendo developers.
