PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

I'm just going to ignore the "third-party" part and assume it is Persona 3 Velvet for Vita. Oh, and while I'm dreaming, they are also going to announce Persona 5 for Vita.

I still hope we get P3V as soon as the third movie is announced.

Curious what it could be since it's also going to be for PC... An enhanced version of Dragon's Crown? :P

I think Takao is right. The only kind of game that I see running on both a PS4 and a Vita (PC as well) is an indie game.

I just got an email announcing that PS store now accepts paypal. Not sure it's new thread worthy but I thought it was a nice option to add.

The US PSN store has been accepting PayPal for quite a while now. Which store are you on?

Disclaimer: I never played Toukiden's release, only all demos. I also have never used bowguns in MH.

Disclaimer2: I am probably not doing some thing(s) right.

Toukiden Kiwami Action Demo Thoughts

Disappointed as fuck with the firearm. It's a goddamn Energy+Bullet management game. 気力 = Willpower/Energy/"Stamina". I'll just call it Energy in this post.

Here's the energy related stuff:
Spirit Bullet Shooting (霊弾射撃) (AKA press circle and take a stance)
Sniper Bullets
Took about 60% Energy shooting all 8 bullets. So I guess 7.5% Energy per shot? Also can't recover energy while in stance.

Spread/Pierce/Suck Bullets
Fully Charged shot took about 45~50% Energy.

Explosive Bullets
Doesn't need charging and instantly fires off instead. Needs about 20% minimum Energy and normally consumes 50% Energy.

"Fast reloading" all 8 bullets takes about 25% Energy. On the "plus" side, fast reloading can be stopped/started midway.

Reloading already makes you immobile, trying to speed it up takes a huge chunk of Energy. Charge Bullets are fucked up. Immobile + 50% Energy? It's not like dodging costs 1% Energy. I don't remember Bow taking that much Energy.

As expected, the grenade (擲弾) is a hard to work with, especially if you're trying to be cool and shoot it in mid-air.

What's unexpected is that it's a goddamn effing big bitch to work with. It bounces off the enemy, so you can't throw it at the enemy, then hit the bomb.

I brought Hatsuho, and fought Mifuchi. By the time she has cut off 2 parts off, the Mifuchi claw I've been shooting at is still there fine and dandy.

The gun was feeling... rather weak for all the shit you have to put up, so I did some time test.

Time it too for me to hack off a part from Mifuchi (just for reference):

Purely with "normal" shots (square) and aiming for a single enemy part (Mifuchi's right front leg). Also engaged Mifuchi as fast as possible.

xx:xx is the time left (yyys is the seconds it took me)

55:20 spread (280s to first cut-off)
49:57 pierce (600s)
54:40 snipe (320s)

57:19 Katana (180s)<--- for comparison; using square attacks only, no Zanshin (circle). Accuracy of hitting the right leg would probably be around 70~80%.

The time is with hitting a "霊脈" (Spirit Pulse) with most of my shots. 90~95% of the time with Spread, while around 80% with Pierce. Snipe = 70%.

Another thing to note is that I used the Attack Battle Style Mitama (press R = recover Energy). I only used it a 3~4 times with the Katana, while the longer it took on guns, the more I used it.

In terms of power, this is how the tutorial put the strength of the bullets.
Snipe - Highest
Pierce - Medium
Spread - High
Explosive - Low (supposedly hits multiple parts)
Suck - "Special" (when I used the Absorb HP Mitama spell, it recovered 0 HP with L3 charged shot, LOL)

Also, pierce bullets hits 3 times at right angles. Spread also does hit 3 times (I think).

I have fully charged my Weapon Gauge (ultimate thingy) before I even cut-off Mifuchi's front leg!

It's probably easier when in groups, and you have more leeway. But I can't imagine what kind of godly play you have to do to solo a 2x Large boss in an arena with all the management you need to do.

I couldn't be bothered trying to get times with Spirit Bullet Shooting. Well, I did once - it took me 510s with Lv3 Piercing Charged shots.

Maybe it'll get better with skills (I mean passive, not Mitama spells). But I am annoyed at that thought of being locked into certain skills just to make things on par with others..

That said, Suck Bullet is interesting in that it does stop large-size AragamiOni. I didn't bother checking out the times, but a normal shot is not enough to stop them, but will slow them enough. Lv3 charge shot are very strong - it can "stop" Gou Enma's Leaping Hammer Punch.

The gun sucks in Toukiden. Quite literally.

Would a kind gaffer gift me a ten dollar PSN code so I can get Demon Souls? I am sorry if this is impolite but I had a really terrible day and have no monies :(

To be more specific, the email stated that the PS4 store now has Paypal as an option. That is new to my knowledge and much appreciated! It will be nice to be able to add funds via Paypal without going to SEN on PC.

wasn't there a code thread? anyway, here's some 14-day trial PS+ code for anyone who's interested (EU and non-plus account only probably):

CDGE-BTNC-5RQR

Got the ending to Rayman Legends. If not for the Murphy levels, this would be my favorite Rayman. The Living Dead levels seem to be consisted of the runner levels timed to famous music, which was the best part so this is awesome.

Those Murphy levels really took the wind out of my sails from an otherwise great follow up to Origins. I'm glad I didn't pick up the retail copy otherwise I might have been even more disappointed.

From Gematsu:

Atlus announces E3 2014 lineup

Any idea what the bolded might be?

Persona 6!

Probably an indie. But I'd like if they released a 1st person RPG like Strange Journey or Etrian Odyssey for the Vita.

Is that for the new content that releases in July along with the new series?

What's the exact deadline to get in on the flash sale? Debating biting the bullet on FFX/X-2 HD.

They should let people buy those games separately. Especially since FFX-2 is a download code, so double dipping would be redundant, And they could give them separately on PS+ (if it happens) instead of the whole HD Collection.

I appreciated that with Tales of Symphonia you could buy the games separately on PSN.

Dustforce Vita got an update, anybody know if the framerate got better?

It fixes some crashes and audio bug. It doesn't say anything about framerate, but, again, did it really have framerate problems? I've never noticed in the demo.

btw, where are the Beta and Gamma level packs? They said these would have been available by last & this week

Tempted to buy Mass Effect Trilogy, how likely would it be this price again? Lol
I don't know about the games (you can probably pick up a used physical copy of the Trilogy boxed set for ~$20ish at some point), but it's very rare for ME3's DLC to go on sale.

Seriously. There's a change of pace, then there's Murphy levels.

And it's such a shame too because I played the PS3 demo and was really hyped. All those people touting the Vita (or Wii U, I assume it is the same implementation except with a stylus) version as definitive took for granted just how disconnected controlling Murphy would make the game.

I agree. I've platinumed Legends on both PS3 and Vita and out of the two I much prefer the non touch screen murfy levels. They still aren't the best levels in the game by any stretch but I still enjoyed them more than tapping and swiping the environment. Hopefully for the next Rayman game if they want to do similar murfy levels they relegate them to a multiplayer or bonus mode and not have it encroach on the main games levels. That's just my opinion though its still a great game and probably my favourite platformer of last year.

Persona 5 releasing on PS3/Vita and PC would be a megaton.

I'll be shocked if it's not on Vita/PS4 in some form.
If not actual ports, but by some sort of promotion with PSNow. Sony letting people who buy Persona 5 play it on the other platforms via PSNow would be a great way to introduce the platform to people who might not otherwise be interested.

What are the chances of a Vita memory card price drop/capacity increase announcement @ e3? I want to embrace the digital age but those memory card prices are keeping me leery.

The megaton is mainly for the PC part.

Nice info on energy consumption and damage! I played the first 5 missions using the gun, always with 3 AI (Ooka, Hayatori, Nagi - the same I use on vanilla). Impressions (more of a rundown of how the guns work) went to the vanilla's OT because reasons.

I main the bow in vanilla and for my build (and its passives) to work I need to be immobile while aiming a charged shot, so spirit bullet shooting wasn't so bad, lol.

And yes, grenades are a pain. It's somewhat easy to hit them in mid-air IF they doesn't bounce off an enemy. Would love me some sticky grenades~
The feedback for it hitting an enemy is non-existant too (or maybe I missed all of them).

Now, for solo'ing with the gun... nope.

Should I wait Rorona+ or just play Totori and Meruru first? I never finished my PS3 Rorona so I need some advices from AtelierGAF.

Ideally it would be to play them in order which is Rorona Totori Meruru... I've been doing exactly that but in reverse. Played Meruru on PS3 but never finished it because of frame rate issues my console had. Currently playing Totori+ on vita.

Exactly my feelings

I am ready to move on from PS3 you fucks

Please let me have one less system hooked up

Man, my hundred game PS3 backlog just from PS+ games is enough to keep the PS3 hooked up well into the near future. What "gen" a game is from doesn't really bother me if it is a good game, and while I would prefer all games come out on PS4 I'm not gonna pass up a good free game just because I want to save shelf space! Now, if they had included PS3 backwards compatibility in the PS4, I would have been all over that shit. Especially a fully supported with rumble DS4 used in PS3 games.

Again, I would prefer everything on PS4, but there are so many games I haven't yet played on PS3 that I will pretty much never get rid of it, so I guess I'm fine with PS3 games still coming.

I really hope the Freedom Wars localisation doesn't take too long, watching videos of the demo now is making me need this... the character customisation looks super in depth.

Well SSD cam pretty quick

It might even hit this summer. It was already playable in english in the Asia demos and its going to be playable in English on the E3 show floor

I bet we get it in August

Also OMFG @ the new Oreshika Trailer. That game is NOT getting the buzz it deserves!!!

If the turn around is similar to SSD then I'll be very happy, I can definitely see it happening that way too. Can't wait.

Oreshika is going to be fantastic as well, really hope we get some release dates for both of these games soon.
