Playfire Rewards Discussion Thread

I kind of cheated on that. Make a multiplayer game, private, max players 2, and the lowest number of bots (1 which means no bots in your game).

When you start, you will be alone on the track and can crash into all the walls and still finish 1st. I never would've gotten that one otherwise. :) That's really the most fun I'm getting out of this, finding fast ways to get those "challenge" achievements. The story and progression/grind related ones are really boring in comparison.

That's awesome, thanks :) Never would have occurred to me.

My theory is that GMG aim to cripple Steam's servers by forcing people to download gigantic games to earn a buck. They're going to rot Steam from the core.

I looked at some player stats for games when they got rewards, like Darksiders II, and there's barely even a spike at all. Seems like the actual number of people participating is still pretty small all things considered.

Does that unlocking trick where you run a game one more time to get the achievements to pop, does that only work while the rewards period is still active? I earned a DmC achievement on the last day and it's astoundingly (!) not unlocked for me.

For the one where you have to land on an owl: Twirl, and the world will change to dark world. While twirling in the air, change to light world.

I still don't get it. I twirled, then switched back to dark Giana to make the enemies owls and landed on one, but no achievement.

EDIT: Found great instructions for both Soft Landing and Citrine Cannonball on GameFAQs

Citrine cannonball: Push X, then push R-trigger while holding down X. Cute Giana cannot dash, but can continue a dash if already in that state.
Ruby-red pirouette: Push Y, then push R-trigger while holding down Y. Punk Giana cannot start a twirl, but can continue twirling if already in that state.

In my experience, if you don't have credit within 24 hours of the end of the reward period, you never will. If you check your achievement page on Playfire you'll probably see your achievement unlocked with a date later than the last day (because it wasn't caught until after). It's a fundamental flaw of the system and I hope it's something they are working on.

Yeah, otherwise what's the point?

Yeah, otherwise what's the point?

The most simple fix for their existing system would just to be for the rewards periods to last an extra day behind the scenes, so it would catch all of the last minute ones without an issue. Not a great solution, but would cut way down on the number of tickets for missed achievements. But maybe whomever created this program just really hates their support staff and wants to create extra work for them.

Edit: For the first time, making a purchase from the store didn't result in my balance correcting itself. If it's not one thing it's another...

I would figure getting the basic premise of your service to work would trump... well, everything.

I think a lot of these issues could be solved if they let users force sync their profiles along with automatic scraping. Maybe put a 24 hour cooldown on it so that it doesn't overload their system. Although I suppose that would still lead to increased load right when the cutoff for achievements was due, typically at midnight GMT.

Every time I've put in a ticket I've suggested something like this, or even requiring use of the client. There's still no real explanation for why it seems that they can't track things as well as sites like Raptr do, and none of those sites are giving away nearly the volume of free money that Playfire is. It's all quite bizarre.

Made another GMG purchase and my credit there still hasn't updated. Playfire shows my last two days worth of credit as being transferred, but also shows the dollars=pounds bug. Have to wonder if the big sale is overloading their system or if maybe they've frozen transfers until the sale is over.

Are the CK II achievements working now? I remember them being broken a few months ago but supposedly the Rajas of India expansion fixed them

Edit: Apparently you have to enable ironman mode to earn any achievements

Okay, Cities in Motion 2 ones seem to be very easy. Got the .10 and .25 one in just 5 minutes by following the "100% Achievement guide". However I have no idea how to get the .50 one. I'm following the guides instructions, but my reputation just won't decrease.

Any ideas?

Took me some hunting around but I found a better solution than what was in that guide. Go into the map editor and create a new map. Build one building, something without residents (I used an art gallery). Build a road in a square around it (possibly optional). Save the map, go into sandbox, load the map and make sure to select disable growth. When you start your city it will have no residents, hit the speed up button and the achievement should pop within a minute or so.

Wow you weren't kidding. The first two were really easy to do. Thanks for the heads up.

And thank you for this tip too.

Somehow in the 38 hours my girlfriend and I have in Lego LotR, we haven't unlocked the "Of all the inquisitive Hobbits" achievement... time to reinstall and rectify that right quick.

I really wish they would put these head-2-head games on sale when they put the achievements up, I'd definitely drop $5 of my credit on Lego Marvel right now.

This is actually a good service. Got a couple of free games from it because of credit in my account. I don't even remember signing up for it TBH, but I do get emails from them and raptr daily.

Don't take the complaining the wrong way, we all love the program and the free credit is fantastic (especially since it's on GMG, which was already a great place to buy), it's just really frustrating how often it is broken and how difficult dealing with customer service is. It's also annoying that when we try to treat it as a beta and send suggestions or offer to help, it seems to fall on deaf ears.

Heck, I'm just happy to have been given some motivation to install and play stuff I've had laying around for ages.

On a semi-related note, my accurate credit amount finally updated on GMG, they're probably just running slow due to the sale.

Found another easy game: Grimind.

Go to SteamApps\common\Grimind and open config.txt.

Change the "MAGIC NUMBER" line from 00000000000000 to 11111111111111, which will unlock all the levels. Then just follow this guide for chapter 2, 4 and 8. Takes 5 minutes.

I got Menace of Magneto yesterday, hope it registers.

I'm installing Alien: Colonial Marines again now, does anyone still have it installed and mind taking a minute to help me with that "have another player join you achievement"?

Decided to check what progress I had on that perks achievement in Killing Floor since I've played it for 17 hours according to Steam:

1250_2014-06-08_00001j6bew.png
Yeah, fuck that. Gonna be impossible for me.

Does anyone know how to do the Stealth Bastard achievements? I've been looking online and there are no achievement guides or videos.

Stealth Bastard - unlock Technical Skills - £0.10
Beat chapter 2

Stealth Bastard - unlock Economy Class - £0.25
Beat a level from the Teleporter Chambers DLC without using the teleporter vending machines. Can be done in the first or second level of the DLC.

Stealth Bastard - unlock Inside Knowledge - £0.50
I think this one is almost automatic after beating the game.

Feels like playfire sneak in that type of achievement to help them identifying cheaters more easily.

How hard/long are the achievements for CK2, magicka and oil rush?

Oil Rush will take 2-3 hours, the 0.25 and 0.50 ones are at the end of the 2nd chapter. You have to do some specific tasks in those missions but they're not too bad.

The 0.10 and 0.25 ones for Magicka can be done in the tutorial stage so only a few minutes, the 0.50 is in chapter 5 I think.

I see nothing about Soft Landing in that. And how does one go about doing this on a keyboard anyways? Not everyone has a controller...

It's just using the power of one sister, and then swapping to the world of the other sister while the move is still active so you can interact with objects that you normally wouldn't be able to. There's nothing complicated about it.

I give up on Giana Sisters. Made it halfway through a level, and got stuck in a fucking wall. So bad.

I'd rather lose the credit than suffer through this again. On a more positive note, thanks for the Cities in Motion 2 tips.

Wow, for some reason i thought you had to do it with the W key while first being in Punk form. I totally forgot A was its own transforming key. I dun goofed. >_>

Ruby-red pirouette is the move for Soft Landing.

It's funny 'cause i got this achievement earlier and i didn't even realize that was what i was supposed to do for Soft Landing.

Lovely, although Playfire itself did track the SSFIVAE achievements correctly yesterday, it decided the ignore the rewards or something because they never showed up in the page :/
The DmC ones I managed to get did appear and transfer to GMG correctly though.

Yeah, thanks for this, the rewards for CiM2 are really easy, and the game itself seems fun too :)
