Sony E3 2014 Conference Thread

Main takeaway:

people went to theaters to watch this...

Must have been awkward as a motherfucker in those places for the middle half of that. Someone teach these people pacing.

Nintendo please

omg that was so awful. Tons of sequels, rehashes, and so little new that if it was shown I forgot. And then the TV Bit, and then no TLG or Lightning HD collection. The only game I want is AC Unity this fall. I can't believe I spent $400 on this. Joke's on me

I'd give it a B+, Lots of games, a slightly stronger first party showing the Microsoft, but nothing unexpected (same as Microsoft).

cg trailers for almost everything, multiplats, 45 minutes of no games, remakes and people are saying Sony won?

Lol.

LBP3 didn't look THAT good.
. I agree. I yawned quite a bit during the tv talk. And still no Last Guardian... ಠ_ಠ

It dragged a little but good nontheless. And im not sony fan.
Too little surprises maybe and too much exclusive this exclusive that (for some time). The games that showed were impressive, if those are real uncharted graphics (although I dont think so), oh my.
Little bit surprised with the grim fandango remaster. in a good way.

Sony: 7.5/10
Microsoft: 7/10
Ubisoft: 6.5/10
EA: 3/10

Rather surprised by the complete absence of DriveClub coverage this year. Hope that doesn't bode ill for what that game will have to offer given its development challenges.

Conference was way too long, and honestly none of the reveals surprised me or got me excited.

6/10

Microsoft had a better showing. And Nintendo actually has the opportunity to have the best showing, but we'll see.

The letters part was the most lamest and cruel thing of all the show.

It was like. "So you are expecting a TLG letter?" Keep dreaming!

My pro rig crashed during the Batman reveal, and by the time I got it running again, I was on Uncharted 4. What did I miss between then?

Rather disappointing and similar to the MS conference, some games that looked great when we saw actual gameplay footage, plenty of disappointment in seeing too many cgi trailers of games with vague 2015 release dates and a lot of stuff I'm not that interested in...Sony ending on Uncharted 4 just rounded that feeling off too, I've played through them and just never really understood the love they get.

There are the odd few games that do look fantastic for both PS4 and XBO though and the Grim Fandango announcement was also great.

+ Uncharted 4: The Thief's End
+ LBP 3
+ Bloodborne
+ Entwined
+ Grim Fandango remake
+ Devolver games
+ Ratchet & Clank Redux
+ No Man's Sky
+ PS TV

- Absolutely nothing for Vita
- Already shown games (Far Cry and Battlefield)
- No Last Guardian (I don't believe this game is in development)
- Nothing Japanese. No jrpg's.
- No Japan Studio
- Nothing for this year but LBP 3
- (not Sony's fault but) No single player DLC for GTA5
- No mention PS2 & PSone remasters for PS4

8/10

HULK SMASH

Conference was ok, bit bloated, 2014 wasteland wasn't really filled out. Not a big fan of LBP. Best games were third party (MK and AK), but I plan on picking this up on PC. Having doubts Uncharted will make 2015. Some of the indies looked good but there wasn't any "gotta get this" exclusive PS4 ones. TV talk (please don't deny this, it was there and occupied a good portion of time) & other talking points. Bloodbourne needed some gameplay footage, guess I'll go look up the leak now.

So far, from a primary PC gamer perspective/PS4/3 owner,

Microsoft >>> Ubisoft = Sony >>>>> EA

Looking forward to Nintendo.

Overall I think Sony's conference showed the best games but the pacing was all wrong. Microsoft really nailed the presentation side of things.

Underwhelming for sure. Only Bloodborne (and mayyyybe Uncharted 4) really has my interest and there wasn't any gameplay footage, which sucked.

Screw TLG, where was Deep Down? :S

Average, mediocre conference. Very boring at times, and there was some terrible things shown, such as LittleBigPlanet 3. Bad pacing; the movies/TV part derailed it. Didn't care for mostly everything they showed.

The highlights were the indie montages, including Devolver Games, Grim Fandango announcement, and No Man's Sky.

That, and the meltdowns about no The Last Guardian

Microsoft: C-
EA: N/A (didn't watch)
Ubisoft: C
Sony: C

Somebody save this mediocre E3 please

Good showing by Sony. Unfortunately they had this middle segment with TV TV TV. Didn't they noticed the reactions to the Xbox One, the All-in-one Entertainment System reveal last year? Remove that, make the presentation 90min and this is an A. So it is just a B.

I did not think this one would be worse than Microsoft's, but it was. This one had just as many third party games, but also a heavy dose of back patting, and boasting, and they still managed to have less exclusives than Xbox. I feel disappointed. Both conferences were bad, but Xbox came out ahead, they never lost momentum and only showed games. To Sony it was all about talking.

no wonder one of the achievements in the playstation app is "watch the e3 conferance for more than 30 minutes" jesus christ with that tv shit, sony

Well lol that was another... average conference. CG trailers, and sequels/remaster heaven. MS had more 'original" games it seemed, but even still, it was a very average conference.

Nintendo, it's your shot.

Sagged horribly in the middle but it was solid overall. I personally thought the MS & Ubisoft conferences were a little better though.

We got Nintendo tomorrow, then probably some more smaller news spread throughout the week, what do I have to look forward to next? TGS, GDC?

wow... horrible.

so what i said still stand, but thats my opinons. what ya all thought?

UBI > MS> SONY> EA

Agree with that list. SOny had soem great stuff to show, but not only was the presentation very, very boring, but they didn't show TLG after the stink it made this weekend.

And the Vib Ribbon cocktease just dropped them even lower for me.

That was great, lots of exclusives and you just have to talk about the tv stuff a bit like they did, Im interested in that stuff also personally, you can see the raw power of this machine, I give the show a A.

lol At teh Haters in this thread. Sony completely killed this Conference. Game after game after game.

The only cons:

No The last Guardian.
Not enough Morpheus.

Bullshit. Don't make me avatar quote you.

"Game after game" except for the 45 minutes of droning. The first half was strong, but then they completely killed the momentum with garbage PR in the second half.

Last Guardian is still probably dead and I don't care what Sony says.

Nothing Sony showed made me want to buy a PS4 this year. Conference would have been fine but that middle section was so bloated and the technical difficulties really made it feel amateur.

Still, a white PS4 and Destiny is kind of tempting....

Pretty damn good conference, definitely the best of the show so far. Ton of games, a lot of which look great -- No Man's Sky was especially impressive, but the Arkham Knight gameplay and Uncharted 4 reveal looked fantastic too. Also really enjoyed the spotlight on indie games.

My only issue with the conference was that it ran too long and definitely didn't need to be upwards of 2 hours. But all in all, I liked what I saw. Another good year for Sony.

Both conferences were very similar. No real megaton surprises as everything was either leaked or heavily hinted at.

Yet both still showed great games.

Not sure how to feel. I was hoping for one of them to drop a major bomb. But again, what was shown at both was still good.
