Sony E3 2014 Conference Thread

Spent like ten minutes talking about a damn television show for PSN and didn't show Driveclub at all. No confidence in the game even at this point?

TLG will end up a PSN mini-game.

Man, that conference needed about 20 minutes trimmed out of it. What the hell was the Powers segment about? It's great they are making content, but how many people really care about this show?

cripes sony's conference was incredibly shit. i didn't even have real expectations of my own beyond them nut-hugging themselves but good lord was it a struggle to keep awake.

even the variety of games was really underwhelming. pretty much the majority of the games shown was nothing but CGI reels of dark & gritty violence porn (though dead island's trailer was pretty dope). im not sure what in the world the hoohah is over that project beast thing.

i guess the most exciting thing to come out of it for me was no man sky and the grim fandago remake, had heard of the game but never played it. new rachet & clank game was good news too so sad nobody clapped!!! ): EDIT: oh yes and little big planet! how could i forget

A+

Loved all the sequels. Sony's brands are pretty much matching Nintendo's in terms of relevance. Did y'all hear that applause of Uncharted 4?

All in all a good conference but damn that whole break between games talking about vitatv and movies and tv.. blah

Underwhelming, but enough for Sony to keep the momentum going against MS. So a win for them really.

Nintendo could trounce both with just a Zelda trailer.

Media shit and Layden really killed the hype about 3/4ths of the way in, but solid lineup of games (with actual gameplay) though. No real surprises outside of Grim Fandango. TLG being absent again is business as usual. Second best conference of the show.

Sony: B. That CEO single-handedly killed the momentum
MS: B+: Stuck to the only games philosophy
EA: F. Fell asleep. Lots of concept footage
Ubisoft: B- Great look at all the games.

I'll give Sony a B. Maybe a B+.

Way more games I wanted to play shown here than any other press conference.

But god did that television adaptation segment and Ratchet and Clank movie segment suck. Brought it back for the last half hour but no one wanted to hear about any of that shit.

That was great, lots of exclusives and you just have to talk about the tv stuff a bit like they did, Im interested in that stuff also personally, you can see the raw power of this machine, I give the show a A.

Yes, I saw alot of things that i want to buy. No Man's Sky seems killer. I thought their studio had been destroyed by a flood or something. They recovered nicely. In fact, I think the game is now enhanced from when we last saw it.

If this conference had the middle part with that jackass CEO and POWERS/TV removed it would have been a solid A- in my book. This conference had more to show than last year's that's for sure.

Decent conference from Sony. I put it just a notch above Microsoft, not based on presentation (MS' show was better fleshed out), but because better games were shown.

Neither Sony or Microsoft were really ready for this E3 though. This is all Nintendo's to lose.

Sony's conference should be stacked next year.

Lots of console exclusive debuts and such, i.e. multiplatform titles I'll probably play elsewhere. Most of the first party stuff doesn't appeal to me too much. Bloodborne and Let It Die actively repelling even. Nathan looks pretty. The Order is ok-ish.

That Far Cry demo was pretty great. Airjacking! Wingsuit! Exploding elephant! Hurk!
Hurk is already my favorite character of the year. Hurk!

Various things being US only left a sour taste.

I've temporarily forgotten everything else that happened. That middle lull was like...it sucked the good out of the first part.

Oh, it's starting to come back.
No Man's Sky continues looking kind of crazy. I like LBP more in theory than in practice. Entwined seemed potentially neat. Batman looked quite appealing visually, but I don't know if maybe I'm Batman'd out.

Welp Sony is in the lead so far for me. Ninty might steal the spotlight tomorow morning if their presentation is awesome. But it's a bit harder to grade them in the same light as all these because it's all pre-recorded. So all the things that make a good presentation a good presentation simply don't apply to Ninty.

Sony: 9/10 - 1 point off cause Shawn talking statistics and numbers really pulled the floor out from under their momentum. But Boyes was knocking em outta the park with those reveals and games. And No Man's Sky really swept me away. All the games did. So good.

Microsoft: 8/10 - For being straight to the point and as thorough as they were about a clear message, about gamesgamesgames, and about making the players first, their conference felt altogether a little sparse. The exclusives look great. Halo Master Chief Edition made me salivate, and Sunset Overdrive is gonna be righteous.

Ubisoft: 6/10 - A relatively lackluster conference, but still delivered some goods. Not as much live gameplay as I would have liked.

EA: 3/10 - Definitely the worst of the bunch. Battlefield Hardline beta surprise was the best part of their conference. Otherwise... Meh. Bioware didn't have anything to show for Mass Effect or their other new IP, and Dragon Age Inquisition looks awesome, as we know.

I thought they did a great job on this. The middle part lagged a lot. I got pretty bored for a while, they showed Mortal Kombat X, I got bored again, then they got back to the games.

I liked MS's approach better, but Sony showed much better content. Their game reveals were just better.

Better than MS, but not by much. As usual, the pacing ruined a third of it. Still, Batman looks great; The Order 1886 is the most impressive game I have ever seen; No Man's Sky timed exclusivity is a nice snatch, and so is the remake of Grim Fandango; TLOU and GTA 5 will push sales...
I can not believe for a second that the Uncharted 4 teaser was real-time...

Sony 'won' because, basically, it looks like Sony has all the 3rd party games/support + their 1st party to any casual viewer.

Sony's press conference was a 'killing blow' for MS/Nintendo, imo.

How? They basically did the same thing that Microsoft did last year, which everyone around here complained about

They did not need nearly 2 hours for that mess. I can't blame anyone but myself, I guess, I wasn't going to watch, decided at the last minute to tune in. Just not interesting. I'll get Uncharted when I buy a PS4 sometime down the road, maybe The Order, but nothing else shown is hitting any notes. I would have liked to have seen some RPGs , but oh well, we can't always get what we want.

That was such a meh conference
Nothing exciting, and the middle killed it

Even in Microsoft might have shown less games, they ONLY showed games and it was one after another after another

If you look at the overall picture, it might be decent, but nothing big was announced that is new

Basically both Microsoft's and Sony's conferences were by the books expected reveals. Very boring, and of course nothing from Capcpom................................ Hype levels are dead unless Nintendo saves us with a Metroid reveal.

It was a good show,i give the edge to Sony.Just about right but of course i wished for more exclusives. Games like bloodbource,LBP3,suda 51 game and UC4 was good enough for the show.

Sony 5/10 : LBP 3 was unneeded, Order still looks like another generic cover shooter, No one gives a damn about POWERS, Not even one Vita game exclusive announced. Grim fandango saves it.

Microsoft 6/10 : Halo Pack seems like a great deal and ORI is just amazing, everything else meh

EA: 4/10 Battlefield Hardline and thats it

omg that was so awful. Tons of sequels, rehashes, and so little new that if it was shown I forgot. And then the TV Bit, and then no TLG or Lightning HD collection. The only game I want is AC Unity this fall. I can't believe I spent $400 on this. Joke's on me

ahh.gif

Of EVERYTHING shown between both conferences, it's quite clear that your taste is crap and severely limited if AC Unity is the only game you take away. What else would you have bought to play your "only game [you] want", assuming you don't have a gaming PC, if you didn't buy the console?

8/10. It had lower lows than MS's, mainly the tv section and facts montage.

But, it had FANTASTIC gameplay segments, excellent game trailers like MGSV, Uncharted 4, and basically I felt it had higher highs than MS's.

But honestly I think both conferences this year were great.

I felt there was alot less CGI in Sony's conference and alot of gameplay.

I'll admit the part about the TV stuff was abit of a drag to me, but overall they really showed some amazing games .... and not pie in the sky either it was actual gameplay for the most part.

why why why do they waste so much time on non exclusive games that we've seen before? it just makes them look like they have nothing to show.

and NO i dont give a fuck about an exclusive mission that the developers felt ok about cutting out of other versions of their game or exclusive betas.

That really wasn't great. Was really hoping to see more of The Order.

Also. The fuck was up with that middle part? Don't ever do that again.
