Sony E3 2014 Conference Thread

Sony really fucked up by talking about that Powers TV show for so long. That really knocked the wind out of that conference's sails. And I can't believe I'm saying this but for the first time in a long time I think I actually enjoyed the MS conference more than Sony's.

Also, fuck Sony for keeping silent on TLOU Remastered release date just to announce the most random date of July 29. What was the point of keeping that a secret? Instead we get fucking Entwined as a surprise day of release. I'm sorry but that really pisses me off.

I gotta say, after this E3 MS and Sony are now neck and neck imo. It's anyone's game. The ONE just needs to start reaching parity with PS4 in the graphics department and MS won't have to worry about a thing.

Not sure about that, MS has shown most of their 1st party cards with Quantum Break, Fable, Halo, Forza, etc. Only major thing left is Gears.

Sony still has Guerilla's new IP, God of War 4 (Probable), The Last Guardian (Probable), Media Molecule, Sony Bend....it could very easily swing back next E3. But I agree, at the moment, neither console has a clear advantage in terms of announced titles.

Besides that 20 min stretch talking about services I thought the conference was great! And Uncharted 4...Holy. Shit.

Tbh, Sony didn't show much, don't get me wrong they had a lot of content but it felt longer because they had glorified demos for a lot of their own big titles. Not a bad strategy just weird...

Honestly I don't think Sony went far enough. They should have said "And the PlayStation Nation will enjoy the best console version, as with most 3rd party games". That would have been a factual statement and it would have let everyone who saw the 3rd party reveals in the MS show know that by buying a PS4 all of the 3rd party games shown for both manufacturers are better on PS4. Fanboy shit aside that a golden egg opportunity.

Everyone already knows this.

Fantastic show by Sony, obliterated the MS conference that was basically a total bust after all the twitter blabber the last few months.

I really think that both shows were pretty much even. I think Sony maybe edged them out a little bit, but overall I'm gonna have a really hard time choosing between the two.

Sorry, but after seeing that Uncharted 4 clip I don't think that's ever going to happen...

I don't get you, guys. While they're talking a lot about it, it's rather obvious that E3 is NOT for gamers. It's for general public, for non-specialized media outlets, for investors and such. For people who care a little. If Sony needed to show something to NeoGAF they could just upload it to consoles, you know, without wasting money on special effects.

TV part was something rather obligatory, same as mentioning console features and perspectives. It's like "last year we promised and we delivered". Youtube uploading was constantly requested at firmware threads, so why meh? Actually it killed a bit of MS conference for me - lack of console per se. Just games-games-games with humble "exclusive this, exclusive that" muttering in background.

I give a big plus to Sony for not showing driveclub and dragon's dogma. Everybody knows about them already, so thanks for not wasting my time. And a big minus for lack of PS3/Vita content. At least Vita games were mentioned.

And even bigger minus for not delivering on promised console features like standby, remote play for friend and so on.

Yep....

How does GAF feel about the ridiculous amounts of moneyhatting Sony is now doing? They feel worse than MS now. I cringed everytime they announced a multiplat and just had to mention some exclusive content blah blah blah they had secured.
Its the common thing now, it really does suck but not much you can do about it.

- The Order: 1886 looks absolutely rubbish. The visuals are stellar, but the gameplay just looks terrible. Hopefully there's much more to it than what was shown, because it appears to be a ho-hum third person shooter designed around scripted scenarios and quick time events, and the way it was all rolled out just seemed very drab and boring.

.

I'm looking at the Order as an experience similar to something like QD's work, but a bit more interactive (with the TPS gameplay). A cinematic focused game, and in that regard, they're delivering exactly what I want.

I don't know what you don't get. They're being dismissed because they're CGI trailers dude, and they're years off. CGI shows nothing, it's as good as just saying "Game X is coming".

People will get hyped for them when MS actually shows them, next E3.

And that was any different for Uncharted? or many of the other videos shown by Sony? Please man, you need to step out from the one-way glass. Both companies do this.

wait, are people docking Sony for showing multiplats?

must be a lot people's first e3

they and Ms SHOWED A TON of games and Gamescom and TGS is still to coome

its even, for 2014 its even, both systems are getting those 3rd party games

xbox one gets forza horizon
PS4 gets driveclub (why no trailer/release date)
Xbox one gets a remaster
PS4 gets a remaster
Xbox one gets sunset overdrive
PS4 gets Little big planet

2015 is when it gets different.

i liked both conferences but lol no price yet for ps now, its gonna cost $$$$, even the beta next month will cost money

Out of curiosity, if you don't care at all about MS and nothing at Sony interests you, then what do you like? Nintendo? PC? Hardly anything? Are you like Derrick?

Despite wanting those 2 hours of my life back, I'm only interested in Sony's system this time around. I figure some JPRGs are bound to happen, Uncharted 4 should be good, a handful of multiplats will be there.

Both MS and Sony had mainly trailers.. Nintendo doesn't need to do much to win this E3 IMO..

If what they're aiming for is a QD-esque "cinematic experience", I'm passing for sure.

I thought it was a pretty mediocre conference all up.

LittleBigPlanet 3 looks pretty cool, but I don't want to buy the console for it, but at the same time I want to buy it at launch so I can play it while it's relevant and do co-op with friends...

Bloodborne looks good but only a CGI trailer.

Ratchet reboot should be incredible but we only got a trailer for the movie.

Uncharted 4 should be decent, I've only ever thought the series was 'just ok' though, I'm more a gameplay person than story/graphics.

Batman looked great, but I'm still bummed about the delay.

Didn't care about the rest of what was shown though, and no The Last Guardian :(

So we get to disregard Uncharted and Project Beast too? Come on. They showed a few exclusives in-game, so did we. How you can possibly see Sony being so much bigger and stronger is blowing my mind.

So far:

Microsoft: B Good flowing conference but nothing memorable. No Bombs dropped didn't help.
Ubisoft: B Trailer heavy but good trailers and promising games
Sony: B Some great bombs dropped...negated by half an hour of boring TV and other shit. No gameplay for UC4. Oh well. GRIM HD!
EA: D-. One of the worst conferences I have ever seen. BOOOOOOOOOORING. Anything interesting wasn't close to being ready.

I'd boost Sony to a B+ just for having the best content of the four, but that's all.

Uncharted wasn't CGI dude. We've actually seen Bloodbourne gameplay via that leaked WebMs.

Everyone is talking how they wanted to be surprised.
Undoubtedly if there were no leaks, both the Sony and Microsoft conferences would literally blow all of our heads.

I wonder if people will still want these leaks in the future...

I don't agree with this at all. What would have been mindblowing?

Another Forza game isn't surprising. Another LittleBigPlanet game isn't surprising. Even if none of this stuff had been leaked ahead of time, neither had any surprising or mindblowing announcements.

Both console manufacturers played it incredibly safe this E3.

MS do have a better exclusive line up of big games this year. but its is all about taste.
Myself personally will be very happy with free edition of driveclub and because I never played TLOU on ps3, it will be a fantastic experience on the PS4 and there will be far more 3rd party games I can afford to have and find time to play them.

The decision is easy now, I cant wait to get a PS4.

Now where's my $3 sony? :P

The most interesting things to me:
-LBP3
-Bloodborn
-Grim Fandango Remaster(dream come true).
-Uncharted 4(ND showing how its done).
-GTAV nextgen.
-TLoU Remaster release date
-White PS4
-PlayStation TV.
-No Man's Sky looks insane
-A partnership with Paradox is absolutely great for PlayStation.
-I need Metal Gear Solid V now.
-A little more info of The Order(tho they chose a terrible way to present it).

That looks good on paper, but the pacing wasn't good. They took to long to do some things(the Powers promotion was completely out of place and I say that as someone who is interested in it).

Vita was completely put aside, very unfortunate, some promotion would've benefited it a lot even if for games we already know like Gravity Rush 2 and Freedom Wars.

No mention of TLG leaves a sour taste. It feels like Sony has little for 2014 and is also willing to save info for Gamescom and TGS.

No SSM, no Bend, no QD, no GG, no new GT, no Sony London, no ThatGameCompany, no Square, no Capcom, very little Project Morpheus.

Where the fuck was the Witness?

Hell, where the fuck was Killzone's co-op? Supposedly releasing any day now?

If its non-interactive whats the difference?

They did an announcement and reveal before the show started. For the 20 minutes that app on the PS4 worked, I saw the pre conference stream and they announced Tetris Anniversary for Vita and the coop Killzone stuff (DLC for shadowfall soon and then standalone a month or two out from there).

Everything MS was destroyed for doing (TV, Money Hatting, not focusing on games), Sony did, and no one seems to see that.

I own both consoles, but there is no way I can say that Sony delivered an E3 presentation anywhere near what MS brought to the table this year.

LMAO, hitting on every note, and singing the song in the same damn note are completely different. It's ridiculous to think any of these companies would/should completely ignore TV when Netflix does VERY WELL on these consoles.

Sony touched on a variety of subjects because they can. MS... well, they dug the hole that they are still trying to dig themselves out of. Oh well?

save the misguided, bitter tears for MS' sake, plz.

2015 is when it gets different.

Driveclub not being mentioned makes me very very worried, and it won't touch Forza Horizon IMO.

I do LOVE me some LBP, but it is not anywhere in the same realm as a title such as Sunset Overdrive.

I look at it as a 19th century Dead Space. Which sounds pretty damn cool if you think of it that way. Unless you hate Dead Space.

So despite that horrible middle part, pacing, and sound issues, Sony's E3 had:

Littlebigplanet 3
Uncharted 4
Infamous: Second Son DLC
The Order: 1886
TLOU Remastered
GTAV announcement
BOMBSHELL Grim Fandango remaster, PS exclusive
Incredible No Man's Sky video
Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay
PS TV coming to US
White PS4

Not sure how anyone can think this was a terrible showing....I think the TLG disappointment is clouding some people.

Don't forget the first look at MKX gameplay.

Yeah, and Bloodborne aka Project Beast.

So updated:

Littlebigplanet 3
Uncharted 4
Infamous: Second Son DLC
Bloodborne (formerly Project Beast)
The Order: 1886
TLOU Remastered
GTAV announcement
BOMBSHELL Grim Fandango remaster, PS exclusive
Incredible No Man's Sky video
Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay
Mortal Kombat X gameplay reveal
PS TV coming to US
White PS4

Why are people so shocked that every big game is coming out next year? These huge first party exclusives need more time to cook, they are the first line up of the console generation and need to be a huge hit.

We're not devoid of games in 2014 you know.

I want a new PS4 :(

M$ had way better presser but Sony won the battle of dlc/exclusives/timed dlc/alpha/betas. Besides uncharted for Sony exclusives it was zzzz.

Game of the show was no mans sky imo!
