Sony E3 2014 Conference Thread

They probably pulled it
They did the same thing to Bloodborne last year, was supposed to be TGS.

My conference rankings:
Sony - A
MS - A-
Ubi - B+
EA - F

I think a lot of you guys are just very jaded or generally negative but me and my friends really enjoyed E3.

Project Beast was supposed to be at TGS but Bloodborne trademark is recent, same time as Kill Strain.

Nothing more on Deep Down? Wasn't it shown last e3? The beta is delayed isn't it? Could it be going through development problems also?

If I missed info on this title while reading the OP, apologies.

Just finished watching it.

I'll give it an 8/10, they had a bunch of games to show, and that Uncharted 4 trailer was pretty shocking. I was surprised LBP3 would be there and was honestly expecting Project Beast not to even be there.

However, that Shawn Layden guy is meh and spent too much time on unnecessary things. And if that "Powers" segment went on any longer the audience would let out a collective groan.

Doesn't exclusive console debut essentially mean exclusive to ps4 due to the parity clause? MS got rid of the loophole in adding extra content to late ports soooo...

Why is this childish?

In my opinion you should take in regard how much you like each conference rather than debating over who really had the best. Sure, grades are good and all in general, but it isn't indicative of the conference as a whole.

For instance, how would I gauge how well Microsoft did with the HD collection of monumental proportions with the output of Sony? Would I take in account and give Microsoft a boost while putting down Sony's as a negative?

And the fact that MS' AAA exclusives are being disregarded (c'mon, effing PHANTOM DUST) on gaf really is showing the bias. Come on guys.... We are gamers. Fanboyism needs to die. I'm just as happy about Uncharted as I am Halo MC Collection. We all need to drop the one or the other mentality.
I'm 21. Never heard of Phantom Dust. I'm betting most around my age haven't either.
You like the game? You remember the old game? Be excited for it. But don't act like this is some huge megaton announcement. It's not. It's a drop in an ocean.

Also don't compare a full-fledged next-gen Uncharted to a Halo collection. It's ridiculous.

-No Last Guardian acknowledgement
-No Persona 5
-No Gravity Rush 2 info

While Abzu and No Man's Sky are cool. I just want more on those 3 games listed, is that so hard to ask? :(

SONY won E3 hands down.

You want proof?
Ever heard the saying, never go drinking when you're pissed.
Yeah well,
Since my Ps4 Cddrive stuffed, i was pissed off. And, Sonys E3 Presentation was next out of the lot.
I couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear, when it started. I really thought i'd be seeing daggers for them. lol

Great Games showcased, and great pacing (minus the little "Power" rambling)
Destiny, nice
Order, sweet
No Mans Sky, F yeah
Little Big Planet, wicked
GTAV, mehhhyeah ok, was hoping for Red Dead announcement :(
Mortal Kombat X Gameplay, Get over here!
Batman, OMGWTFGIMMIE
The Last Of Us, yoink! Mine!
And, Uncharted...
oh, my, god

9.9 out of 10.

Microsofts was ok, 8/10 for them.
No incentive to get an Xbox One yet for me. Halo collection sounds cool n all but yeah..

Some folks are way too jaded I think. Both conferences were good, I sat there grinning like an idiot for some parts and rolling my eyes for others both shows.

Well, I can see that I did not word that well. I completely understand why you would react that way. So, rephrasing that...

6= plenty for me
4= not enough for me

Regardless of the actual quality of the games the number itself determines what will be suitable. That's something.

I think a lot of you guys are just very jaded or generally negative but me and my friends really enjoyed E3.

I'll be honest and say this is probably true for me. I can count on one hand the number of games I saw today I was excited for. Video game marketing isn't for me.

That being said, Uncharted, Arkham Knight and No Man's Sky were the hypest things I saw today. 2015 might be the best year in gaming since 2004 for me if everything works out and delays are kept to a minimum. I still think 2014 is bone dry though.

I had a lot of fun with the show. The middle part drug on too long and it felt shoe horned in for all the wrong reasons. Keep the shit coming, I know Shawn Layden is reading this somewhere. Other than that, PlayStation show was fantastic.

Missed the conference. Whats the general consensus on it?

Great opening. Nosedived into a bit of a bloated mess in the middle, as per last year. Ended pretty great.

The showings are up to opinions but really the only thing going on here are one-sided list war arguments. You really have to watch it for yourself.

All both conferences confirmed for me was that PC is still the place to be. All those multiplatform games will look better on PC and the following "exclusives" for one console or the other are also PC:

Below - Xbox exclusive also on PC
Grim Fandango Remake - PS3 exclusive also on PC
Dead Rising 3 - Xbox exclusive also on PC
No Man's Sky - PS4 also on PC
Project Spark - Xbox Exclusive also on PC
Titanfall - Xbox Exclusive also on PC
Ori & Blind Forrest - Xbox Exclusive also on PC
Magicka 2 - PS4 Exclusive also on PC
Planetside - PS4 Exclusive also on PC
Halo collection - Xbox exclusive and possibly later PC

Aside from Bloodborne, most of the truly exclusive first party stuff isn't anything amazing. But goddamn if I can't wait to see Far Cry 4, Witcher 3 and Dragon Age 3 on my GeForce 780.

The Sony conference was okay. I wish they had not spent such a huge chunk on that whole original programming nonsense (Powers?). I guess that was the Wonderbook for 2014. Some thoughts:

- Destiny looks interesting. It should certainly win the "Halo" crowd. I might give it a shot, but I'm a bit apprehensive until I find out what Activision's pricing scheme will be.

- I have some mild interest in Infamous DLC and I am glad that Sucker Punch does standalone method.

- The Last of Us and Diablo III I want, but I already knew about both of them so no surprises here. I was a bit mystified as to why Sony would show TLoU spoilers during their preview. Seems like a stupid move. TLoU seems like a complete package so it is safe for me to buy, but I think Diablo III is still getting milked by Acti/Blizzard so I probably won't buy it until a complete edition becomes available.

- The Order looked better than the last time I saw it. The first time I saw The Order, I got a Gears of War vibe (which for me is bad), but this time it felt a little more like RE4/Dead Space 1, which is a good thing. I guess I won't know more until much later though.

- Bloodborne is what I am most excited for, but they showed ZERO gameplay :-(

- GTAV was a given, will only buy if it complete edition (probably not, so I will just wait).

Overall, Sony did a good job. Their pacing was a little lackluster at times, but they certainly had games to show (even if I don't care about half of them). Both Sony and MS went heavy on multiplats, but we all already know what system to get multiplats on, so that leaves us with exclusives, and Sony has what I want.

honestly outside of EA's i felt the conferences were all pretty much solid 8's

the highlights for me so far was sunset over drive and bloodbourne overall though this e3 has been pretty lackluster for me personally.

Yeah, Sony kicked off well, but LBP killed the momentum. Ugh, horrible pacing. Neither camp really had anything spectacular, both solid though. The leaks, they hurt.

Enjoyed them both. Was glad to see pretty equal footing. The fact that Sony chose to talk about TV and movies made me lol though. Hah.

Sounds like a good description for all of E3 aside from EA.
What was EA's like?
Content was good, but the pacing was pretty bad. Microsoft's pacing was better.
Yeah, without being all supercereal omg winnar about it. I'd probably give them content and presentation ratings. On content I think both were a solid 7 or 8, on presentation I'd give Microsoft an 8 and Sony a 6. That sound guy, (Hulk Smash, lmao) and Brian Michael Bendis segment...

I will try to put my into one coherent thought and then go to bed.

Both companies did a good job of one thing. They ensured that the people who owned their console are going to be happy in the near and far future. They both relied on third parties and that works mostly for sony because they are in the lead and they can ride that wave. MS needed to counter with a ton of exclusives and they did a good to okay job but the problem is that Sony matched them hit for hit. MS can't win in a tie. They both did pretty great, Sony is higher for me because they simply have more games that I care about. MS however had the better press event. So anyway games, there were a lot of them and they all looked great. Here is to 2014-2015.

Edit: Also there will always be a wonderbook moment. Damn they were doing so well and the bleh. New ceo should have summarized all the boring stuff into like one paragraph and then introduced the next game. When sony finally cuts this crap out is when they will achieve true greatness.

You could tell Jack Tretton on the GT after-show was going to say something when they asked him about it and his response was:

' I know a lot of good people there and I don't want to say anything harmful or negative.'

Really sad they broke their philosophy on "games only", Powers was a joke, despite it being handled by great producers and a well-acclaimed director.

The first half failed to deliver much excitement with a poor trailer for Destiny, a visually striking look at 1886 that convinced me to wait for a budget price. LBP3 still isn't for me. Bloodbourne may as well still be in rumor phase, but at least confirmed to be something.

Then the indie train and Far Cry 4 came on and impressed me. Grim Fandango was a nice surprise.

Mid-segment was rough, but necessary for the broader market and investors to further prove there is more to this machine than virtual shootouts.

Everything from MKX to the end impressed...minus that terrible MGSV trailer. Missed the leak, but where is the fun and playful Kojima?

Solid outlook for Sony and the PS4 brand, even if GAF may be bummed by the blockbuster exclusives.

Great show, Uncharted 4, Bloodborne, No Mans Sky, Batman, The Order, and some other stuff I can't think of.

Next year is going to be a great year in gaming.

Getting the Hulk as a timed exclusive character for the Sony consoles was a dick move. Think about the poor child whose favorite character is Hulk but only has a Wii U or Xbox. :/

Here's some concept art for games coming out in a few years. Oh, and sports games.

Out of all the conferences, EA's was the worst. They basically said, "we're working on some games, please look forward to them." Oh and here's the rehashes from EA Sports and Sims.

Battlefront was the biggest thing shown in their conference.
