Would love to get some feedback! It's a simple zen-like game where you hold your finger down and avoid incoming tiles.

looks cool, will try it out.

Link? I can't find it under ニュースリリース http://www.jp.square-enix.com/company/ja/news/2014/ and haven't seen a mention of it on Famitsu App (but they are really slow at reporting)

I saw Game WATCH and some other site I follow on twitter post entries for FFIII getting cloud saves at the same time, so I assumed it was a press release, maybe it was, just not a public one? At any rate:
http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20140609_652476.html
スマートフォン版「ファイナルファンタジー」シリーズはこのほかにも発売されているが、今後続々iCloudに対応していく予定だという。
I wonder if they'll ever get around to updating FFI/II, they could really use some work considering how SE has come as far as touch interfaces and general port quality is concerned, sadly I think iCloud save support will only come to FFIV, IV TAY and V, since when they announced controller support was coming they only mentioned those three along with VI and III.

Thanks. Hopefully it comes to FF1/FF2 if only to fix the save bug in FF2, so annoying.

I'm pretty used to the touch interface actually, I was playing FF4 on my PSP (which I haven't touched in over a year) yesterday and was startled by how crummy/musshy the directional pad is.

Hopefully they add it to Legends as well.

Really glad SE has been taking responsibility for their apps, I hate abandonware.

http://techcrunch.com/2014/06/09/ap...offer-rewards-for-video-views-social-sharing/

I almost wonder if they're doing this because they can't track the revenue apps make from outside video servers on their graphs in their events.

Or more to the point, they want all money to pass through their hands so they can have their share.

What would make you think it's anything but the latter? Though social sharing could hurt...I'm enjoying the fact that I get 100 extra fun points a day by posting on twitter with Phantasy Star Online 2 es. :<

Here are my impressions of VVVVVV and Jupiter Jump from TA:

VVVVVV
I've only played the PC version of VVVVVV, so I can't say anything about the touch controls, but I can describe how the game is and what it makes well worth your time, money, skill...and patience

VVVVVV drops you into a weird alien station, one of few survivors of a crash landing that leaves your fellow crew members scattered across the world. In that aspect, VVVVVV already separates itself from most precision platformers: it's non-linear. Actually it's almost in the vein of a Metroidvania, you travel to different areas, find teleporters that let you jump around the map or back to a central hub. Each area offers its own unique challenge, a twist of the core mechanics

At its core, besides the truly challenging gameplay, that diversity is what makes VVVVVV so much fun. Mechanically, the game is so simple: move left, move right, and jump. Well not actually a jump, but rather a reversal of gravity that lets you navigate from floor to ceiling and vice versa. You can't switch gravity mid-jump (although you can control your movement) so each switch must be deliberate.

Yet from such simple controls, VVVVVV crafts such a wide range of challenges, hazards to avoid, and interesting scenarios. From the ubiquitous spikes to moving enemies, from barriers that switch your gravity orientation in mid-air, to utilizing screen wrap, VVVVVV takes its precision platfomer roots and not only delivers on that front, but also creates head-scratching puzzles and challenges to overcome

If you know Terry Cavanagh, you know what kind of experience to expect from VVVVVV. Brutally challenging, stylish with a chunky retro aesthetic, a fantastic soundtrack, and a polished game that will surely make you want to throw your device across the room.

If that kind of experience appeals to you, then VVVVVV is a must buy. You won't be disappointed

Jupiter Jump
So I've played Jupiter Jump for about 15 minutes now and I can already tell it's sunk its hook into me. The game has the kind of quality you'd expect from a Noodlecake game - nice visuals, solid controls, challenging fun gameplay - creating a polished experience with that one more go appeal that make twitch games so much fun

If I had to compare Jupiter Jump to something else, I'd say it's a mix of Spike Dislike and Solipskier with the precise intuitive control of Platforms Unlimited. Like Spike Dislike, you need to guide your perpetually moving astronaut around, under, and between deadly spiky mines. Near misses build your score and passing through green gates build your combo. Like in Platforms: U, the arc and speed of your jump soon becomes second nature and you'll be able to deftly time the evasive maneuvers needed to rack up those high scores. While you're merely tapping the screen, diving and evading has that satisfying feel that makes each playthrough a joy, a combination of the sudden burst of speed with each drop and being rewarded with a combo increase and near miss,

Jupiter Jump is a worthy addition in any twitch game lover's library and yet another fun game in Noodlecake's repertoire. There is a small banner ad onscreen, but only in menus and it doesn't appear during gameplay. You can remove ads with a purchase"

Pocket Stables finally went on sale so I picked it up. Holy crap this game is hard! I've played every KS title up until this point and this one is beating my ass in terms of actually winning races. Seems to be a total crap shoot too...

Edit: Course I've won a few races finally after posting this!

If it controls like The Last Rocket ("similar flipping gameplay") I will be more than happy with it. Having high hopes for VVVVV since I heard wonders about it.

I haven't played The Last Rocket, but VVVVV on PC feels very precise to me. It's the kind of game that'd actually be challenging even with a gamepad, because you can't flip back and forth as abruptly as you can on a PC keyboard. I'll be really curious about how playable it is with touch.

It isn't just flipping that's the problem at times. Veni Vidi Veci needs super precise left/right movement.

If you love VVVVV you should pick The Last Rocket. Similar gameplay but much more deep and with more mechanics. Multiple endings. Intelligent level designs, boss battles, ... for me, one of the best games on iOS. The only con thing is that is not iPhone 5 ready.

Found a video of Terry playing the game on an iPad, controls look accurate but there is the fact that is his game, and he can be a pro playing it. Only like 2 hours to find out.

Ha, I shouldn't have used the word flipping. That's actually what I meant—quickly going from left to right. I guess they could do a Glorkian Warrior type setup where each thumb controls a direction, but then the flipping (the actual flipping!) would be kinda messy.

I would have thought me mentioning those three specifically would make it understandable that I knew those three were on iOS. Or at least that i had already played them. I guess not. So are there games on iOS similar to those three without being literally the exact same as those three?

I don't believe there are any of these sort of visual novels on the app store that have been translated to English (aside from Phoenix Wright). There are, of course, straight-up visual novels I could list instead...

Have you tried DEVICE 6? There's also some game book stuff like Sorcery and Lone Wolf, but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for.

Will look into Device 6, thanks. Not so interested in game book stuff. Might look into that as well though since I don't really know what they are.

I got VVVVV and I have to say that even with the lack of widescreen support, this game has blown my expectations away. Its really tricky and well done and it controls really good. I like how its not linear at all, you have lots to explore to reach the portals, friends to rescue and trinkets to collect. On my first time I went all the way down and played a huge level where I bounced on cables to advance. Definitely really good stuff.

Also liked Jupiter Jump. It rewards the bold with how the multiplier works, lots of interesting land to discover, some interesting mechanics, controls are tight and really responsive... very light fun... its simple but effective, its also free to try with IAP to disable ads -which I did-. Definitely worth a try.

Now that I've played VVVVVV on IOS, I can say that Terry absolutely nailed the controls. They're responsive and precise. I prefer the digital buttons scheme, which control scheme are you guys using?

A new visual novel just came out, Invisible Appartment.
It's free for a limited time....I just played the first 5 minutes and it seems nice.

Not to rain on the VVVVVV party, but me and my team and finally, after a lot of blood, sweat and tears, begun the glory of new and awesome content for Jetpack Joyride!

We've had Jetpacks, We've had costumes, but now we've moved onto our next big upgrade path - Vehicle Skins! Previously Vehicle Skins involved being able to unlock "Gold" versions of each vehicle. Our plan is to make these the lamest things possible :P

Currently we have added three new Vehicle Skins - The Colossatron, the Barry Box and Bubbles the Rubber Duck!

And more are on the way! These have been super fun to develop, can't wait to show you more!

On top of all this awesomeness, we've brought Barry Steakfries into the animation with a Rock Opera - "Shirt Sleeves". Check out the video here! You can also get his Stitched up sleeves costume for free in the game!

Download the game now! Unfortunately it does seem that iPad Mini Retinas and iPad Air's have a weird bug where Barrys Head and Body are twice the size. Working on it (and pulling my hair out in the process) but the game still works fine (and better than it ever has), but it just looks a little weird :P

I like Folt too, but it's obvious the design has a large emphasis on in-app purchases to reduce the ridiculous choke points. A real shame, because the core design is solid, but they're clearly putting their focus on this.

zxhZVom.jpg

This is level 22. The split level setup has such a tiny percentage chance of being solved, as returning through the block is unlikely to happen with random colours. The only way to keep playing is to pass this level.

You'd never see such a choke point without gameplay alternatives in a non IAP driven puzzle title.

I'm also loving Folt, and having seen this post I cringed when I just arrived at this level. Turned out that I managed to pass it on my first go, without using any bombs or spending a penny.

So I think perhaps you're being a tad hard on it.

Another vote for Device 6-it's one of the most creative games you'll ever play. True originality and creativity is really rare nowadays, but this game does it.

Angry Birds Epic drops today, right? I saw it on the Google Play store this morning.

For those of you who played it in the soft launch, how aggressive was the monetization?

No, he's not. It took me three tries to beat that level, but once you get another few levels in it because unfairly difficult. I deleted the game at level 29.

That said, Jupiter Jump nearly made me miss my stop this morning. Got a score of 455 right as my train pulled into my stop, which has me sitting pretty at #28/3495 players :3 I'm really loving the game. The risk/reward system it employs is brilliant.

Man, VVVVVV is just an absolutely fantastic port. Finished it up today. Took me 3:36:13 and I had 1,453. I only got 9 trinkets so I need to get the rest. Hardest room was ...Not as I do with 169 deaths. Anyone who has an iPhone/iPad owes it to themselves to buy this game!

I know no one really cares about iOS controllers, but there was a bunch of hands on from E3:

Mad Catz C.T.R.L i: 2 versions, standard + micro:

Bp8NNHoCQAAZiup.jpg

Touch Arcade: Hands on with the Mad Catz C.T.R.L i Micro

Touch Arcade: Hands on with the Steelseries Stratus XL [Video]

Touch Arcade: Hands on with Hori's MFi Controller End of Q2, $80

I've heard good things about that bluetooth controller (the full size one you get with the mojo) so it will be nice to buy it stand alone, the micro looks good too.

Steelseries have a full size controller coming and that looks promising too, it has a lot of parts very much in the same design as the xbox one controller if you like that kind of look.

FYI Out There just surpassed the 100.000 copies sold (as per dev mail) and this will be celebrated by a sale this week end.

I agree-that particular level was no problem, but around level 29, it's nearly impossible.

FCB Pinball launched on iOS a couple of days ago: Clicky!

On top of that, Pure Pinball: Clicky!
(Although, as a heads up, you may want to wait until tomorrow/Saturday before downloading this as it's going to be free this weekend).

Have to give you guys kudos for continuing to update jetpack joyride. One of my top 5 all time favorite iPad games and the updates keep me playing it years later. Is the plan to keep updating the games instead of full on sequels? Noticed age of zombies also just got an update.

Any good? YouTube developer video says ipad version looks the best. Have to decide between $10 ipad only vs $25 cross platform steam pc/mac.

Was waiting to get paid today to buy it. From what I've read online, people seem really happy with it although apparently it's a bit easier than expected for experienced PnC players. I'm getting to no matter what, the game is gorgeous and it's a god darned Double Fine production.

Also, Jupiter Jump made me nearly throw my phone across the room last night.

I'm really liking Angry Birds Epic so far. The monetization isn't bad at all (so far; I'm an hour in), but I could see how Rovio could force your hand if they wanted.

I'm on the fence about Broken Age. I love DF stuff, but I haven't gathered enough information to see if it's worth $10. Anyone have impressions (or a link)?

I gathered some impressions for the PC release fairly recently:

They're a pretty balanced blend of impressions, mentioning some negatives along with the positives, but I'd say the consensus is it is worth the money if you're interested in it.

Thank you. I know what I'll be playing this weekend. :^)
