It blows me away that this is the 8th OT for a game that isn't even close to release yet.

You guys are crazier than FootyGAF with these posts.

I'll be checking this out soon at a Best Buy.

FootyGAF is 2 weeks per thread the whole year, this is never getting on that level lol

Don't know if anyone has posted this yet but Clash Tournaments uploaded a bunch of 1 v. 1 matches on youtube.

With almost everything FFA they seem pretty rare so I figured might as well let y'all know.

It's hard to tell exactly, but I think Greninja has a different victory than Pikachu. I wish there was clearer audio of Greninja's and Pikachu's victories so I could compare better.

Apparently so. Unfortunately I don't remember the website that has the source on call.

Leak #1 - A day before Nintendo Direct 2013

"Villager, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac, Pac-Man, Mii will appear at E3"

Leak #2 - A day before Smash Direct 2014

" Leaker has sent a second email, saying that Pac-Man and Mii's are still coming, but there are other newcomers as well. They are: Chrom, Shulk, Palutena, Chorus Men, and an X/Y Pokemon"

Leak #3 - Supposedly a day before E3 2014 but Sal said that he overlooked the email until next morning which he posted like couple of hours before Nintendo's Digital Event.

Hey, guys.

Funny that this page is talking about a new e-mail, because that's exactly why I'm here. Received one last night, but missed it in the mix of all this crazy E3 coverae.

But there's not much new about it, so I didn't think it was worth posting on the site.

I'll leave what it says here, though, in case you guys can use it in any way.

Basically, I was told that:

- Last E3 before game's launch (obviously)
- Participating characters: Pac-Man, Mii Fighter, Goddess Palutena, Shulk, Chrom, Chorus Men (none of these are new, obv, so I take he means these are the participating characters for E3?)
- There has been internal debate about keeping Lucas versus Ness, apparently Lucas is likely to get the cut
- Nintendo is planning post-launch character DLC, source doesn't like this as he thinks it's greedy

And that's it. This E3 should make or break whether this guy's the real deal. Let's hope for the best! =)

I didnt brush away anything, dont make assumptions, I just seen alot of comments, like when I made my first comment, I accidentally hit the submit button twice and it put me in this random page that happened at 12 in the morning and some guy with a megaman avatar just wrote a entire book and im like holyshit, is it that serious.
(Not sure if referring to me)

Also is anyone else bummed that Ali Hillis isn't voicing Palutena in Smash 4? I thought she did a perfect Palutena :(

Also thanks Heath for compiling those leaks!

All I want to know is will Megaman have a voice or not. Did anyone ask Reggie? Sakurai?

Word of advice: go early.
Is an hour enough, or should I go even earlier? Got there a bit after it started on Wednesday and it was already packed.
If you've got a 3DS I'd recommend taking it. Lots of dudes had them at Wednesday's Smashfest in my area and we had a nearly full Mario Kart 7 lobby going in line :p
I have a few books I need to read, so I think I'll be okay. I'll bring my 3DS anyway just in case.

An hour early is what I planned to do. So maybe an hour and 10 mins if you want to beat like-minded people. :P

Lots of great material being posted on the KYM page.

She's so freaking big!

Does anyone still have that image comparison of Link's face in this game? And possibly that one .gif of him clapping in the Victory screen? I'm trying to show a friend how crappy his face is, but can't find those images for the life of me.

You should go much earlier than an hour if you don't want to be waiting in line forever and possibly not even get a chance to play. I was two hours early on Wednesday and there were still many, many people ahead of me in line when I got there. Luckily I got to play, but not before waiting a very long time in line.

If you go there 3 hours early then you're already waiting forever. Wednesday was the first day; I'd imagine Best Buy will move it along faster after that experience.

Continued from part 1

Sheik!

For whatever reason, she was playable for the 3DS demo, but not the Wii U demo. She played damn near identical to her Brawl version, which on the surface, played damn near identical to her Melee version. It was hard to really get a feel for her and any changes from Brawl since the enemies in Smash Run aren't... traditional. I couldn't test if f tilt comboes into anything, or down throw, or if she got her slap back... basically anything involving move strength or combos. Jumping around and shit felt good. She has her wall cling. Her taunts were the same. I felt like I had a good amount of control over her up b trajectory, more like Melee than Brawl.

Her down b and side b were so weird. I'm obviously used to side b and down b being FORBIDDEN MOVES for a Sheik player, so it was weird to input those with Sheik on the screen. They are just strange moves too. It's not immediately apparent how exactly to apply them during a match (her other moves just seem... better). The grenade has a strange trajectory and comes out kinda slowly. I don't know how exactly I'd apply the down b either. Sorry for the shitty impressions, but that's just the vibe I got from the character after 5ish minutes of play against redeads and koopas. The new moves are weird (bad? slow?), and she feels pretty much like Brawl Sheik.

By the way, the Redeads look SO GOOD. Like the OOT art come to life in the game. AHH SO GOOD

Oh yeah, on the 3DS, we were dropped into Smash Run. Within 5 minutes, you have to run around the map and collect as many power ups as possible.

I was loving it, of course, since I was playing fucking Smash Bros on a 3DS, as SHEIK, and getting a feel for the controls and shit. For that reason, in a demo setting, the 5 minutes was nice. My major concern was how the controls would be, as I'd have to transfer over 15 years of playing Smash with an analog stick and real buttons to a shitty 3DS circle pad with little dinky buttons. Thank FUCK it didn't feel as bad as I was imagining. Everything felt pretty natural... that being said, Smash Run is basically baby's first platformer. It didn't exactly require the precision of, say, a 1 v 1 tournament match. I'm not sure how easy it would be to space bairs with Jigglypuff on a 3DS. While tilts were easy, I did notice that getting Smash attacks out required a bit of work. I pretty much had to, well, smash the cicle pad to the side to get an fsmash out. Way harder than any other 3DS I've ever played has required. I was beating that thing like it owed me money. I get the feeling I'll be trashing a lot of 3DS circle pads after Smash 3DS is released!

The enemies are really just decoration in this mode. I don't recall ever even being hit by anything very powerful. Lots of the enemies' moves are telegraphed. I'd up smash them and take their stuff. On to the next one... For 5 minutes.

Some of the enemies I noticed were:

TDL2K3A.png
RrRuzWZ.png
omaU5Uv.gif

SO awesome. Fanservice everywhere.

Not gonna lie though, 5 minutes felt like way too long for this mode. And that was my only my first play through. It got really, really repetitive. You don't even have to hit enemies to get power ups, either. A lot of them were just in the air waiting for you if you explored the map enough.

Then I went into a match. Time to test some stuff for real.... right? Nah. It was a sudden death match, where it was me vs 3 CPUs, all at 300% from the start. On Kid Icarus stage. 2 minute time match, I believe?

Maybe I'm just a skilled player, but I didn't understand the need for all of the stat upgrades I just collected during the 5 minute Smash Run. It was like facing the fighting polygon team. Dash attack. Dash attack. Dash attack... I mixed it up with shffl'd fairs and nairs because why not, but the execution of this entire mode just seems weird to me. I really felt like I could have literally stood still for 5 minutes during the Smash Run and decimated the "challenge" at the end of it. Though I'm assuming the final game will get more difficult, to the point where you're going to have to be powered the hell up to stand a chance against the jacked up CPUs? Hopefully.

The Wii U demo was still being played, so I was able to go through Smash Run again, this time as...

Greninja!

Greninja felt fucking awesome from the word go. And I'm picky as fuck when it comes to Smash characters, so that's saying a lot. All I really need is this one gif to show why:

i3zCifNVrRWEh.gif

mutha fuckin back air

mutha fuckin down air

sooooo goooooood

I was just bouncing on fools for the entire 5 minutes. That shit was sooooo satisfying. You bounce HELLA high if you connect with an enemy, so I was basically bouncing from one enemy to the next like Uncle Scrooge or some shit.

That multi hit back air, too. So good. Unlike Sheik and her new B moves, I went through Greninja's moveset one time and you fucking knew that character had moves that were gonna do some WORK.

Greninja's up b also feels like an incredible recovery tool. It felt so great to use, goes so far, and even with the 3DS circle pad I felt like I was in complete control when it came to aiming the trajectory for it.

Then, the match began. Sudden death mode, AGAIN! Fuck me. This time on Gerudo Valley, which is an awesome stage. I bounced on these dudes like it was no ones business. Just down air all day. I must have got like 14 KOs by the end of the 2 minutes. DOWN AIR TOO STRONG

Greninja's up smash also seems pretty good. Great range, pretty quick and looks cool as hell. Overall, I can see myself maining this character. Everything just felt right as soon as I gained control of him. Just like Sheik when I first played Melee <3

iblPXfW8lkRSUY.gif

Unfortunately, in the end, Smash Run and fucking sudden death matches don't really give me as clear of a look at these characters as I would have liked. I love how Greninja plays, but against an actual human, I bet the down air isn't as great as I've been lead to believe! The back air is probably easily punished, same with up smash. But you know what? He's fun as fuck in Smash Run. I think when I get the actual game and play that mode one time to unlock stuff and never again, I'm gonna do so as Greninja!

Finally, it was my turn to play the Wii U version. I gave the 3DS back to the woman it was tethered to, and picked up a Wii U Pro Controller. The Nintendo rep said I would be playing a 1 v 1 with my friend that I came with. Two matches.

Oh man.

*TO BE CONTINUED*

Thanks to DaBoss for the GIFs :)

So as a non competitive player, how are the changes from Brawl to Melee?

Just faster with less air importance?
Edges are much harder to grab and you have to be right next to them. Air dodges are directional but leave you unable to air dodge again. No tripping.

Wow that is like automatic. :o

and awesome write up Anthony. I think Greninja may be someone I try to put some time into so it's good to have some impressions on him.

Can someone give me a full overview of the Gematsu poo.

Interesting I thought sakurai said the person who has the higher percentage gets higher priority?(if im remember this correctly) or is it not implemented correctly yet

why couldnt nintendo make this smash bros event a downloable demo/beta the nearest best buy from me is 2 hours away.
Because the demo is unstable as heck. It's one thing to put it up at E3 where it's understood that everything is early, and it's still fairly reasonable to put it up temporarily at select areas where, again, there is that understanding, but to put out an unstable demo to the general public would be insanely bad PR.

It's possible we'll get some kinda downloadable demo closer to release, once the game's effectively finalized, but putting out the demo in its current state would be bad.
Even if, as a Smash player, I would pay so much money to get it.

iirc, the amount of time you spend in the air before grabbing the ledge is also a factor. I'm trying to recall that cryptic update lol.
