Final Fantasy 5 Four Job Fiesta 2014: That Classic Taste [now ending]

Alrighty, so far it's Knight, Time Mage, Bard. No idea what to do with these three yet, but that's what happens when you don't play a game for ten years.

Had trouble with Liquid Flame when I was trying to brute force with 4 Knights, but the next time he dropped like a fly with one ice rod break and one attack. Rod breaking is new to me, seems crazy powerful.

Solune's back again but this time he's on mobile. Because Solune loves playing mobile games~

Honestly I wanted to give this version a try and see how where it would take this year's run. Already it is proving to be an interesting experience (these digital joysticks take some getting used to). If nothing else taking screenshots is quick and easy. The Amano character portraits are nifty but I can't say the same for the character sprites (other stuff looks okay though).

To start this no750 + risk run we get Monk. I was hoping for Knight instead as I haven't gotten that in the Fiestas yet but this is fine too.

My other run so far is White Mage, Berserker, Beastmaster.

I've had Berserker+Beastmaster either five or six times. I can't remember anymore.

Despite having drawn Thief, I'm paranoid about running in my early game in case I draw a Knight on Random (which is certainly a possibility).
Fire Crystal Job = Knight

Me and my big mouth.

So now I've got a Thief/Berserker/Knight trio.

I just realized I ran from a Chimera, which means no Brave Blade for me. Is there anything anything in the 4th crystal that can use a Chicken Knife without running?

Dancer is the best character for the chicken knife, dance ignores chicken knifes effect and a 4x damage chicken knife sword dance is beastly.

Finally started got to the wind crystal and got my white mages. Without trying I got 2 leather shoe drops might grind for a 3rd just to give everyone an extra point of defense. No cheese freelancer to carry me though the next few parts this is all white mages all whacking things with sticks/fists

Ranger and Thief are better because they have better stats all around and their abilities never ever do anything but hit for damage. If I had all three in one party though I have no clue who'd I give the knife to.

EDIT: Don't forget the Flail. Also Siren Undead is undead, heal during magic phase, attack with cure on the undead. Magisa can be silenced. Protect and attacking one at a time is the way to go with Galura and don't forget to get the heal stick first. Slow and steady.

After doing Thief and White Mage multiple times to start the game I can definitely say that Thief is by far the more annoying class.

Would depend on what your 4th class was who I'd give the chicken knife to. If its natural then has to go to dancer or they're basically dead weight.

And I know all that lol thanks though I appreciate it. I actually did for fun all white mages once after my all thieves last year and agree white mages end up having a better time of thing even if they have to grind a bit more.

Well on the one hand, I'd like the CK to be useful. On the other hand, I've already gotten Dancer before.

It looks like Chemist is the one job I've never gotten on the Earth Crystal. Here's hoping~

Ugh, Natural with Ranger/Thief/Dancer/X? That's a Sophie's choice right there.

Ranger is right out, they can do very decent damage with x fight and a bow.
I'd probably...give it to thief. Mug is great with Chicken Knife. Dancer can sit there and be immune to stuff while dying because they don't have enough HP. Maneater will do ok damage against certain bosses including the final one.

Honestly I'd rather make my thief an item spam bot that keep my dancer alive as they go for those 50% sword dances. Its a bit more of a high risk high reward but when it pays off it would make the final battle much easier.

You're right though natural thief/dancer/ranger/x would be pretty terrible, throw in geomancer or berserker for a team that can't support each other at all

That moment when you get frustrated in the fire ship because you keep getting flashed, so you buy 99 eye drops.

I remembered, backed out and bought 20.

What I didn't buy in my Knight/Berserker/Freelancer/Freelancer mission though was any Maiden Kisses. For a party that can't run. My knight got owned by it 3/4's of the way through.

I beat Iron Claw before he transformed and killed the final wolf with 4 seconds left after getting all of the items.

Knight/Berserker/Monk/Berserker isn't fun at all. I *could* do it (though I'd have to nix beating Shinryu and Omega), but it is annoying.

I gotta say the breaking rod thing is ridiculous. Liquid Flame a boss that drove me nuts when I originally played this was beat up by me smashing two cheap frost rods. Wow.

Thief/Time Mage and Third Job is Ninja

Just registered for a Natural run, never tried anything like this on FFV.

Got Blue Mage for Bartz, let's see if I can do this...

My 4 Thieves thought they would be brave by trying to fight Magissa at level 8, died. Came back at 9, surely one level was— dead.
Might go ahead and grind to 11-12 before bothering again. I know I *should* be able to beat her sooner, but I don't care to continue these very close scrapes only to die near the end of the battle.

12 was the lucky # for me for that fight with four thieves

That's like the best team ever right there. Everyone's super speedy.

Thief/Berserker/Knight/Berserker isn't much fun for me, either. Granted that last Berserker is still assumed but it's almost a foregone conclusion. I know I've seen a couple dual Berserker random players donate $$ to switch out their Earth Crystal slot.

I've got a slot saved before my Castle Karnak escape in case I want to go back in time and reroll my Knight if he proves unbearable. The Ifrit fight wasn't much fun but I figure I can manage so long as I stockpile Hi-Potions from Poltergeists every so often.

That moment when you get frustrated in the fire ship because you keep getting flashed, so you buy 99 eye drops.

I just walked into the Fire Ship with my team of Monks and Red Mages, get flashed in my first battle, and realized that I had only one eye-drop. So, I went back out of the ship, bought twenty eye-drops, and went back in. Then I learned Chakra/Mantra almost immediately, which eliminated my need for eye-drops. And I didn't even get a chance to try it out, since I wasn't hit by flash again.

*sigh*

Charka cures blind? I wouldn't know since I don't think I ever used it aside from maybe one or two times during my first year.

Oh, wow! They alread did all of it? US $6,588.50 of US $7,500.00
Amazing!!

And I read the OP but still havent got a full idea of how it works. I think I wanna try this, can I play with an GBA emulator?

Meteors fallen.

I failed to get screenshots of Purobolos and the Chimera thing, but I did manage to get Gaia Hammer! (after many resets)

Now onto World 2!

Gilgamesh learns the definition of whacky.

I was actually going to try to drain his MP, but forgot that only Lenna knows !Mix. Guess who was the Berserker.

Still an easy battle.

Urgh, curse you Ancient Library and your books armed with Level 5 Death. This has not been my day so far... Maybe I should grind up to level 16.

Ha, I had to grind to level 21 for the library (Thief+Berserker only), and Byblos still came down to lucky Drain misses.

I got smacked by it myself and decided to call it a night. If I think I need Flame Rings sometimes I do the grinding for those right after the castle to make sure I hit around 18. Ain't no way I'm gaining two levels in the trip from Karnak to beating Byblos, no matter how little I run.

I shouldn't NEED Flame Rings with Knight/TMage/Ninja/___, right? I mean, I'm obviously gonna get at least one, I'm just curious how badly I might need them.

Hmm classes for Classic: White Mage, 2xMonk, Black Mage.
IIRC of that lot only the black mage can equip the chicken knife so looks like that is no use. Besides, running is not going to be that useful as the monks fists need their EXP. It is still worth doing for bits here and there (the library has long battles and is terrible for EXP for instance).

I figured wrong. Totally forgot about the counterattack when this thing turtles down. Did it always do that?
It sure did. Was a first boss thing for FF games with ATB systems for a while (including the FF7 with the misunderstood "attack while the tail is up" line).

That is how I've usually played (as it makes taking screenshots easier; btw, for people playing on hardware use your cameras manual focus setting).

I started another run, this time a random one and so far my jobs are Knight and Red Mage. My horrible streak at the Water Crystal continues, yay! This being a random run I can still get a White Mage or a Black Mage but I don't trust Gilgabot.

Natural Blue/Zerk/Beast/??? Run - Made it to Karnak last night, beat Liquid Flame and saved in the ship. So far it hasn't been a pain since rod breaking is still an option with the Mage and Freelancers. Gotta make sure to learn Aera and Death Claw (a must) during the escape though. Ifrit and Byblos should be cake, as should most of the rest of the World 1 bosses. I really don't want Dancer, but I can deal with it. This run shouldn't be much of a problem, unless I get another Berserker. Even then it should be doable.

Natural Monk/Red/Thief/Red Run - Made it through the library and got the steamship. Steamrolling the bosses with rods, but that's going to taper off quick once I hit World 2. Definitely worried about my endgame power. No Break means Grand Cross is gonna suck (but on the plus side I'll have Esuna). Damage output in general is going to suck - gonna have to resort to rod breaking or dualcasting Lv2 spells. Monk won't be doing much since as much as I'd like Kaiser Knuckles, Hermes Sandals are probably a better choice. Thief will be rocking the Chicken Knife.

EDIT: FUCK I FORGOT

And the last job is Berserker. Yes, Berserker. This is almost the same team I had in my last run last year except much worse because the Time Mage transformed into a Monk.

Why do you hate me so much, Gilgabot.

Red Mage, Berserker, Red Mage, Berserker, Red Mage, Berserker... I'm getting crazy.

And my last class is...Dragoon.

Blue/Zerk/Beast/Dragoon.
Natural.
All classes I've had before, and there are still 8 I haven't had yet.

Eat a dick, Gilgabot.

Got the wind drake, 4x white mages is really boring, you're never close to dying like a 4x thief party, but god does it take FOREVER to kill anything.

Ended up killing Magissa and Forza at level 11. Stole at least 8 Silver Specs while on the mountain, kept 4, banked the rest.
Became very familiar with the quicksave, ransacked the cellars, never met Jackanapes. Too bad he won't be able to tell his kids about us...
Hunting Wyverns for Mythril Knives, lest the upcoming battle prove hideously slow.
And Garula goes down to the party of 4 level 11 Thieves!

Thief/Berserker/???/??? ...what a surprise! ;)
