even in basketball you need some help.

LeBron has had plenty of superstar level help in Miami. but this year they fell off a cliff.

Wade is finished. he should pack it in now and not damage his legacy.

Bosh - who knows maybe he's had enough. didn't seem interested this year.

Allen - is OLD. really OLD can only damage in bursts and not a great defender any more., should join Wade at the beach next season.

the others, scrubs at best

the Spurs, a better team anchored by Duncan but getting excellent production out of the 6th., 7th and 8th guys. The spurs bench was +91 through all five games. there's the series with a bow.

wonder how different this same heat team would have done if they had a HOF coach like phil jackson or pat riley. one thing i'll say lebron has been missing in his career is a really great coach.

Wade can still contribute off the bench somewhere, but I don't know if his ego allows that to happen. He's going to stay in Miami and make a ton of money so Spo is probably just going to trot him out there every night as a starter

it's almost inhuman to think that the bulls could have won a title the year after MJ retires. It would be like the Broncos winning a 3rd super bowl in a row after Elway retired. Not comparing the two at all but holy shit.

Many people just talk a bunch of garbage about players because they like or dislike statements they've made.

If you take a statistical standpoint, LeBron is complete insanity. He truly is incredible, especially considering the way defense is played now. For any one player to score the way he does, and all the other amazing things he does.... is just so statistically amazing.

But, as always, someone just always has to go "fuck lebron he sucks!"

People just being people.

Not really. He´s one of the 5 best players in NBA history, and a lovely, beautiful human being. Yes, he is, I´m not being sarcastic.

The cause of the constant, abusive and excessive hatred, irrational hatred, Lebron gets... it goes beyond my understanding. It´s pathetic.

Before the finals, I already knew that he´s not the GOAT, there is only one Michael Jordan, I knew he´s definitely not the chosen one, and maybe he has failed to live up to expectations/potential. Still his is an inspiring story, he´s a superb player, and only an idiot can deny the fact that LeBron's a great boy.

This. It's a different era now where people can just ream players online over and over and over. The amount of hate they have to endure is just stupid. So many people WANT him to lose.

It's amazing to me that people will cheer on Kobe, who is so clearly a piece of garbage human being, while they talk down LeBron? Makes no sense..... just makes no sense.

You have to achieve something to be regarded something
Remember the memes of you can't call yourself a King when you don't even have a ring

nope, i don't think many people hang on to old memes - especially after dude got rings

Hyperbole now. Game over. You either just don't get it and never will or refuse to admit the reason he catches so much shit.

sure, it must be one of those two; can't be irrational hatred that you & others here haven't been able to argue past a bad PR move

'nuff said

a guy who said racists things on the phone about a whole group of people is getting less shit than a guy who simply wanted to play basketball with his friends, and did it in a silly way.

You feel Ronaldo also gets this treatment?

He led the Bulls to a 55 win season as the first option and might have even won it all if the refs didn't screw them over against the Knicks.
Are we playing the what if game? No way that Bulls team beats the Rockets that year, they probably would have lost to the Pacers.

Scottie Pippen was playing at a really high level that season and while they might not have won I certainly think they had a chance to make some noise, but there's no way to know since its obviously hypothetical. My point was that Pippen was good enough to lead his own team, but people look down on him because he played with Jordan.

I don't think any less of Lebron, he played great while his team looked like the old Cavs teams Lebron played on. He's still top 10, maybe even top 5 all time to me.

and he's better than Kobe to me too, and I don't think it's debatable

Duncan is better than Kobe too

Way easier for a top 5 player all time in the NBA to win rings than it is for top 5 player all time NFL to win rings.

I like LeBron way more than Kobe. People look for anything to rip on LeBron. I live in Chicago so everyone I know pretty much hates him. But if he leaves Miami and the bulls clear cap space and sign him, they will instantly love him.

People slurp Kobe but his 3 peat he had Shaq. He won a couple other titles with way better teams than LeBron had. Kobe also lost with that ridiculous Malone/Gary Payton title chase team. I mean they got crushed in 5 games in that series.

Kobe basically gets the same treatment as LeBron from non-Lakers fans so I don't really see why you think everyone loves him and hates on LeBron. Most of the people saying negative things about LeBron are fans of opposing teams being fans and hating on the competition. There's also the fact that LeBron(and the media) made himself into a villain a few seasons back and some people haven't gotten over it.

Also, the Payton/Malone thing got ruined by injuries and off the court issues(though the Pistons played great defense as well).

As a fan of basketball, you should never be happy an all time great lost.

what? you mean as a fan of a specific basketball player or basketball?

if you are a fan of basketball, you would be happy if a all time great lost if they lost to a BETTER TEAM. Cause that's what the sport should be about, about the TEAM.

your statement should read, As a fan of a Basketball player like Lebron, etc etc

Guy still won two championships and plays great. I don't get why everyone tries to shit on him every chance they get, it's pretty childish.

People don't like him for the sake of not liking him. Is the whole Cleveland situation is the major one for a lot of fans. For me, is the way he quit games at times. You have Kobe playing with broken bones in games, while Lebron gets a scratch and he has to sit down. I'm obviously exaggerating on the scratch comment, but he is not a trooper like some other players in the League.

i don't know anything about basketball, but isn't using titles won rather pointless in comparing individuals in a team sport?

Look at the amount of minutes he's played and the kind of punishment he takes every game and tell me again that's not one tough dude.

That he hasn't suffered a severe injury is remarkable and hardly something you can hold against him.

The comparisons to MJ are and have always been unwarranted. They're not the same type of personality type, nor are they the same type of player.

Lebrons personality is less aggressive, he wants to be more of a facilitator. Lebron doesn't know when to "turn-it-on" and take games over. MJ's personality was to crush the souls of everyone/anyone in his path and look amazing while doing it. That's not Lebron and will never be Lebron.

Lebron is an amazing player in his own right. So in that regard, nothing has changed for me. But I never compared him to MJ or Kobe, because they're so different IMO.

Such a good boy.

Pretty much. Lebron isn't a killer on offense. He picks his spots. You have game 6 Celtics zombie mode were everything changed and cliqued..then you have the year before when he scored 2 points per 4th quarter in the Finals against the Mavs. He got away with 3 sub 20 point games last year in the Finals. Last night he went off in the 1st and the 2nd and most of the 3rd he was a no show when Spurs make their run to essentially make it a laugher.

MJ = Great

Lebron = Great

Problem solved.

Heat need a big man and a competent PG, and some younger 3 pt shooters off the bench. Battier is retiring, maybe Shuttlesworth will retire too, so if the other big two opt out and restructure, then they could get some good pieces. I'd start with with Monroe or Z bo.

Jordan didn't win anything until Isiah and the Pistons declined. The Laker team Jordan beat had no Kareem, Rambis, Pat Riley and Magic was old/post HIV. Jordan didn't win anything until he had Scottie Pippen and arguably the GOAT coach, Phil Jackson. Meanwhile Lebron has Erik fucking Spoelstra, a Dwyane Wade with degenerative knees, 38 year old 3 point specialist(Ray Allen), a Chris Bosh who wants to be a perimeter player, Rashard Lewis, Mario "25%" Chalmers, Shane Battier who's at retirements door, etc.

Jordan's Bulls were way more stacked than any team Lebron has played on.

I do, Ronaldo is legit a nice person, but gets shit on by all soccer fans. Same with Lebron. At this point, I just see people that hate Lebron as contrarians, they are in denial that he is a great player, all the what ifs comparing to MJ are a waste of time and energy. Move on people, MJ is not coming back and will never play again. Just enjoy the players now and stop hating.

Yeah, man. Luc Longley and Ron Harper were perennial all-stars... lol.

Lebron teamed up with 3 future hall of famers and he still averaged 4 pts in the 4th quarter for this finals. Deal with it.

Also, the 91 finals happened before Magic was diagnosed.

LOL no. As a real fan of basketball I appreciate team basketball and not this cult of celebrity shit.

Unless you mean like the pre-ABA days, over the top personalities have always been a part of the game. Its been a star driven league for a long, long time.

How can you forget about Randy Brown and Jason Caffey?

I don't think LeBron needs anyone to defend him, but I think it's dumb when people act like just getting to the Finals isn't worthy of praise. I'm a lifetime Bulls fan, but that doesn't stop me from realizing that Karl Malone was one of the best players of all time.

Would Jordan's legacy have been tainted had he dragged a few pre-90's Bulls teams to the Finals and lost?
