Dear Microsoft,

Please, as a mostly digital only user, have pre-loading available by the time this comes out. Also, it would be the bees knees if you could offer all the preorder bonuses at each retailer in the digital version if you pre-order and pre-load on Xbox Live. I plan on buying it regardless, but I would really like to be able to go to it whenever I want without a disc and getting incentivized to do so would be great.

Regards,
Bsigg12

P.S. Please make the Kinect command something not so long. Saying "Xbox, goto Halo: The Master Chief Collection" is just too much. Thanks.

P.P.S. Will there be any behind the scenes stuff? All the stuff Bungie did for 2 and 3 was fantastic and I would love to see more of that.

What are the chances that the server browser from Halo 2 Vista makes it into the MCC for custom games? Seeing as the game is, I'm assuming, based on the pc version.

I would really like to see some sort of definitive statement regarding the netcode for Halo 1 and Halo 2.

Halo 1, especially, really needs a netcode optimization for online play since it was designed strictly for LAN. Even with low latency and dedicated servers, it has all sorts of issues and just doesn't play that well. I really hope they're addressing this.

Halo 2 played very differently online depending on if you were hosting or not. For example, grenade jumping wasn't even possible if you weren't host. Is the netcode going to be optimized to cater to the dedicated servers, or will it play like everyone is off-host, where no one can grenade jump and everyone's BRs are less effective than they should be?

There is no hosting. Everything is run on dedicated servers. Net code will probably be optimized across the board to reflect that

That's exactly my point - they're switching to an all-dedicated approach for one game that's netcode wasn't designed for online play as well (and doesn't cope well when you force it to), and for another game that was designed for peer-hosting and plays differently for the hosting player.

That's a pretty big change, and I haven't heard anything from the developers whether they've considered that and addressed the netcode accordingly.

They're using part of the PC version of Halo 1 so net code exists there. If all they're doing is essentially moving hosting duties onto a server then for 2 we won't see any weird host boosts like we used to get. Also it means that physics should actually work correctly for all players and not just the host player. It's hard for me to see any potential negatives that could come up from this.

Hell, no more standbying and mod boxes on Halo 2 make it something I'm dying to play.

Its a perfectly reasonable question but the bolded is unintentionally hilarious. I mean, even if it ended up terribad, do you honestly thinkwe wouldn't have considered it?

We'll talk more about it later in development.

I really wish I could get an answer to whether or not the Elites will have full Halo 2 armor in the final game like Thel in the leaked CG, though I guess I'll have to wait to find out.

Well, I hadn't seen it mentioned or talked about at all, which concerned me. Really, what I was getting at is asking how much consideration had gone into it as opposed to whether any had gone into it at all.

Halo 1 and 2 on PC, for example, really seemed to gloss over optimization when it came to the actual online gameplay netcode. I know the Halo franchise is much more near and dear to 343i than it was to Gearbox or Hired Gun, so I'm hoping the online experience reflects this in receiving more care and optimization than the PC versions saw.

Full blown dysentry.

Actually just a good metabolism and tons of exercise. I advise STrONGLY against that rate of weight lost, as it is unlikely to be healthy for most people.

Yeah, thats a hell of a lot of weight for five weeks. Cool that you pulled it off safely.

What's your routine? Lots of running, weights, swimming?

Dear consumer,

Why not fly to New Zealand on November 9th, purchase there, download and fly home across the international dateline, beating the long download?

Yours helpfully, Stinkles.

P.s. I don't know what the long term plans for preorders are.

Proprietary evolution of og engines, including aspects of h4 renderer. Not 5, which is obviously still being refined as the game gets closer. Would have been crazy to split. Beta will be your first experience of 5 engine.

So basically your saying that the match we saw at E3 of the "re-imagined" Halo 2 map won't be the graphical look of the new H5 engine, and that the new H5 engine could possibly look better?

Sounds like an expensive trip. Could be fun though.

Wow didn't realize the pricing was announced! Holy damn, 60 bucks for all 4 games is a steal, considering all the DLC comes with it as well.

Sidenote: Never played a single Halo game, they didn't interest me at the time, and was never a huge FPS buff. This gives me great incentive to actually go through the whole story now.

Thanks for these.

I just hope 343i actually listens to common sense instead of "but I want these glitches for custom games and fuck everyone else" crowd.

this stuff is not that bad. I played 4500 matches and I don't think I noticed any of them.

Yeah, these were fixed decently fast, minus the betrayal force. This is more emphasizing that it's a good idea for them to pull the last known MM version so they don't have to do 3 years of relearning all over again.

I need to add the fusion core launch on Valhalla, now that I think about it.

you gotta admit, a custom game made in Halo 2 with the Rocket/Sword Lunge would be fun if it was used strictly to explore maps like what everyone used to do back in the day. It was almost like having a zipline mechanic in Halo 2

I loved exploring those maps, I hope it'll still be possible. fuck having a rocket lunge in matchmaking though.

Hopefully SpOps is playable this time.
Public matches almost always sucked but it always ran like a dream in private matches with friends. Zero issues. So it comes down to the weakest connection I think.

Hopefully this is something dedicated servers and netcode tweaks can solve.

I had a lot of fun with it back in the day. I fully understand the appeal.

If it's possible to keep it as an option for custom games, that would be ideal, but I don't think it's realistic. Not only does it involve fixing something and then breaking that fix, but it makes it much harder to debug due to the added complexity.

My biggest concern is clean, competitive fun in regular matchmaking, and I think that is where the priority needs to be for 343i too. Even if they change their mind later, you will never get the opportunity you did before you ship, since certain components aren't set in stone at this point. It's wise to take full advantage of what you can fix pre-launch, since a patch greatly limits what you can do.

ooooohhhhhhhh it doesn't come with halo 5? Only the multiplayer beta? ok, now I understand.
My original understanding was that halo 5 came with the collection. derp.

that would have been pretty cool.

wait a second, you are on to something. Why can't I just change the region? So technically my Xbox would be running on their timezone right? lol

You probably got it confused with Nightfall, which will lead into Halo 5.

Speaking of which, wonder when we'll see a trailer for it? I know Nightfall might be a bit spoiler-ish but at the very least a teaser trailer wouldn't hurt. Kind of interested how it will look.

I do believe Phil said last week that pre-loading is on the road map for the updates. Hopefully it's in one of the next few updates.
