This was very interesting.
Loved how some of the characters are not what you expect giving the shonen tropes being thrown around eg the MC is such a dick and does not give a fuck LOLVera is fucked and her sister is even worse given her actions(which was surprising since she's her older sister)
the story went fucking sideways near the end but that also made it more interesting since i'm not surewhat the fuck goes on now and how should i feel about Vera since her sister is now free (and going by impressions so far she's fucked and possibly worse) but Vera did THAT SHIT

People keep talking about how the sage's brother is black zetsu, but I am pretty sure that's not what's going on here. Black zetsu refers to himself as "Kaguya's children." The both of them. And he's not actually either, he was created when the two of them sealed Kaguya, as kind of a last-ditch preservation effort. A little bit like one of Orochimaru's little backup snakes. He's effectively a "third" child of sorts. I think.

Very enjoyable manga. Not a fan of the fan service but i can tolerate it in this kind of setting. The tension does not let down, from exams to protecting one´s shop, there´s always challenges, and these challenges are different, which gives the manga good variety and challenges. If i want to pick between it and Toriko, as a food manga Soma wins by a large margin.

reading around some more and apparently the story going fucking sideways was partly due to executive meddling since the series was declining before that.

Well I mean the problem with her character type is that it's in so many fucking anime and manga. It's get old especially since her character type gets a lot of focus cause it's obvious she'll overcome her fear of being "in love" and hook up with the main character eventually. I've always found the tsundere or yandere types to be more appealing if anything. Why can't a main character hook up with an attractive women with big ass titties for once?

dude released the seal, knocked out everyone, helped fire dragon for a bit and is fighting vera in what seems to be a toe to toe match

No sir, her name is Megumi Tadokoro. I can't stand shy girls in anime/manga. The trope is that she'll overcome her shyness and eventually hook up with the main character.

but her shyness is not due to her fear of being in love or whatever, she just has no faith in her own abilities as a cook.
Once she gets that confidence its possible it could lead to some mention of feelings but that hookup to main character is dubious since there is a tsundere in there with the exact fear (more of a lack of understanding tbh) you are giving this character (so she might win instead lol).

No, I mean he seems surprised that there was any reason for them growing apart at all. At most he mentions that he was "also having a tough time" but otherwise seems awfully surprised at the situation.
