Yeah, GZ is very tight. Controls are perfect and are great no matter what alert state is around BB, open world gives great freedom for exploration and sneaking, visuals/animations/cinematics are so great.

What kind of open world game is it?

I detest Ubisoft style open world games. Games full of repeated missions and collectibles.

GZ is a small game, with 5-6 fixed missions that are started in the game menus. When mission is selected, game throws us in into the gameworld with the fixed TOD.

This will change in the TPP, where we will have ability to activate main missions, roam the land unrestricted, or visit mother base. TOD will be dynamic.

It will not be like in Ubisoft games.

Game looks like fun but Fulton is OP and the game is kind of unrealistic.

I'm having a hard time understanding why people are complaining about the Fulton System. If they ever played Portable Ops or even Ground Zeroes, they would be begging for the Fulton.

Fulton is love, Fulton is life.

So I literally just got done playing GZ and HOLY HELL. Call it a demo all you want, but if TPP is anything like that, I'm going to shed a tear. I'm not even going to spoil TPP for myself by watching anymore trailers. Media blackout starts now.

I don't think anyone is questioning it's quality. But paying so much for what amount of game you get, that might as well come as a part of TPP at one price, is the issue

Has Kojima mentioned if basic stuff like knocking will ever be retroactively added to GZ? Obviously not with the fancy arm, but you get what I mean.

I want to see the dog already and what he can do.

"One of the fascinating new additions to your squad is a dog. We've had dogs in MGS before but never like this. This is someone you care about, this is a squad member. He does everything from sniffing out explosives to protecting Big Boss."

More talking about a game with stealth elements were one of your main abilities is fultoning things in the air and all the enemies that are watching the area are oblivious. Fun but makes no sense.
We've had the alternative and it just wasn't that great. I understand what you are saying but I see it as a goofy and weird necessity that actually improves the game... Even though it makes little sense.

My god this game is glorious.

I will Fulton every sheep in sight.

I'm Fultoning wolves. My infantrymen at Mother Base need wolves to patrol the base with. I hope Koji uses this extra time to add dogs to TPP. Let me have a dedicated section of Mother Base for guard dogs. Fuck around and have pomeranians roaming around the base.

I look forward to base wars with everyone in this post.

I'll wait for a speed run of the first mission then complete that section then spend the rest of the time fultoning everything. If Mother Base is anything like the iPhone app then I'll need as many soldiers as possible.

I want nano tech somewhere in this game as an add-on to Mother Base. I forgot who posted this idea in this post but having a last level where you have to sneak by and possibly destroy everything you built would be dope. In any shout out to whoever posted this idea earlier on in this post because it's brilliant.

I don't do that shit son. I'm dead serious, i'm pretty sure i wasn't dreaming. I wish picture search on twitter wouldn't be such a pain in the ass.

Or was it one of the other KojiPro devs? i will keep searching...

I won't scatter your sorrow to the heartless sea.

Showed some friends the 30 min gameplay...they loved the game until the Fulton action.. They hate it.masked me can I complete the game without using that damn thing. I was shocked they didnt like it, it wasnt just one guy but 4 of them

I think what everyone is fussing about is how immersion-breaking it can be. Not only does it not fit with the tone of the game, it sort of breaks the game. There's no consequence to using it while being surrounded by enemies.

This is coming from someone who put in 300+ hours into PW (mostly multiplayer though). Never played PO. In GZ it can get annoying but it fits with the more grounded approach the game is trying to achieve.

How does it not fit the tone of a game that contains horse shitting and magic cardboard boxes?

And understand that the video is not final. If you have an issue or concern, tweet it to Kojima and team. Let them know you want restrictions on it.

Right but in Portable Ops, you had to build your army by dragging every single soldier back to the truck or comrade's box. After an hour or so it just really drags the game down. If it had Fulton, the game would've been perfect.

I never said I approved of horse shitting and magic cardboard boxes in this game. I was only responding to what I quoted.

Honestly, the horse shitting doesn't bother me but I feel as though the cardboard boxes should already be in the area you are infiltrating. You then have to find it and the option is yours to make use of it. Then when your done with it, it is left where you last placed it. Of course multiple boxes should be scattered around the map.

Yes, I am aware the series is not completely realistic but the gameplay always felt grounded compared to cutscenes. The fulton affects the game very much. I don't get too critical with PW because I keep in mind what it was designed for but MGSV has higher/better expectations, which is why you are hearing complaints about the fulton only now.

the vast majority of people complaining about fulton either didn't like PW or didn't play PW. you're in a very small minority if you think it fit within PW but is bad here. not only that but it's been stated that the game was intentionally unbalanced for the purposes of a demo.

Not disagreeing at all and I totally understand the issue. It's just a tradeoff - realistic but annoying, or unrealistic but convenient.

Either way I am still here day 1! I need my MGS fix.

Wait a minute we can free roam in TPP? I thought kojima was very clear about it, that you cant free roam like in GTA. You are given specific missions, which you then proceed onto the area to complete and once you do you get out of the battlefield and back to mother base. Did i miss something?

You state the bolded as if it were a fact. I have been keeping up with MGS news with the best of them, so I am aware what's been stated about the demo. That doesn't mean I can't state what I think of it. Konami wouldn't be asking for feedback otherwise.

Until they kill everyone on the base.
Can that happen?

It was mentioned during some impressions that you can Fulton animals. They also mentioned that the animals salute Big Boss as he returns. Give me wolves in Diamond Dogs gear. This is next gen so I want mocapped wolves. They need to put that Fox engine to good use anyway. KojiPro could include as Day One DLC or preorder bonuses.

I'd much rather have exclusive animals as preorder/Day One DLC if that is the route they decide to go than actual useful stuff like in-game items or exclusive missions.

It's probably because of how comical the animation is right now. Unless these things work in a way that I don't expect, a balloon should not stop in mid air, bounce up and down for a while, then do a little buh-ZIP! into the air.

The whole thing just looks like it's from a road runner cartoon. Metal Gear usually balances the serious with the comedic very well, but in this instance it just feels inappropriately timed.

I played PW, I like PW, and I think the fulton needs some tweaking for TPP.

Tell them to lighten up a little. XD

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that Snake doesn't say one goddamn thing in that opening scene, even when asked a question? I'm starting to think they paid Sutherland to record like, 5 lines.

In Kojima Station they already stated that even before they cast Kiefer, they had already made a conscious decision to perform a "show, don't tell!" approach to the story, which is why there isn't nearly as much dialogue (during cutscenes).

Of course it's also been confirmed that Kiefer plays 3 characters. BB, The Medic, and Ishmael (probably Decoy Octopus if I'm guessing right).

A lot of people have talked about it in the thread. It is a bit weird, especially at the beginning of the demo, Kojima said he wants Snake to talk less and express himself more through facial expressions, Kiefer said he's worked on it for a year and a half. I expect him to have quite a few lines.
