Are there any theories as to why Snake basically stabs himself, and doesn't even react to doing it?

There was a reddit or /v/ post going around, one soldier fights the other, things heat up and pulls a knife. Big Boss intervenes and goes "if you pull a knife on your comrade, you better be prepared to use it. You wanna stab your comrade? Do it. DOO IIIIIIIIT", something like that.

So is this right that you can infinitely Fulton on missions now? That seem's a bit overpowering. I liked in Peace Walker how you were limited so you tried to save your Fulton's for better ranked soldiers and POWs.

In Ground Zeroes there were approximately 40+ soldiers on the base.

If you mutilply 40 soldiers by the 300 GMP it would take to fulton them, you get 12,000 GMP spent in the first hour of the game. Those costs will add up. Trust me on that one. I guess this is why diamonds are so important to the game.

That's when we find out Big Boss is The Pain from the past. THE PAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIINNN!

No. That seemed to be just part of the demonstration. In that the use also cost GMP which is the mother base main resource cost.

In Peacewalker you could fulton somewhat alot. Though I only fultoned POWs or key targets since they ended up having the best abilities to put on your mother base crew. Regular troops werent really worth a damn other than fodder for combat battles.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

They should have took the humor even further. When BB got back to MB they should have detailed how base research can go ridiculous far with enough time and showed an advanced animal intelligence serum. The sheep could have turned the corner with a barrett and DD patch and saluted Big Boss.

I like the way you think.

If it is going to just be 300 GMP, and more soldiers bring in more money, then it's basically limitless.

It's not balanced yet, we don't know for sure if it will cost 300 GMP.

And also, if I'm not mistaken, his heart is not on that side of his chest.

No the heart is more to the left side but i'm pretty sure (if he stabs him) he will not hit his heart and BB will be "fine".

the heart is essentially dead center in the chest. the heart to the left thing is a very common misconception

it's already been stated many times that the game was purposely shown unbalanced in order deliver a vertical slice of sorts in terms of abilities and things you a can do in the game. as i said earlier, i'm sure you'll have to research and develop the fulton to expand it's abilities. it will probably cost a lot more or even have a limit on it at first. there may be a weight limit where you can only take soldiers at first.

I would also guess that in the final game containers and vehicles will also cost more and they may mess with the success rate percentage more (probably will get better as you go down the Fulton development tree). So you might be taking risks with your GMP even outside of bad weather.

From what I've heard and seen so far, GMP in MGSV seems to function like actual money now. When you R&D something, you don't get that money back like you did Peace Walker.

TIME PARADOX

Snake Eater already taught us Big Boss has an insane amount of HP, he can take damage like no other. Broken arm heals within a week, broken hand in 5 minutes. Shrugs off severe electroshock torture, walks off a gunshot wound to the upper leg at point blank range. Gets shot in the eye and doesn't even blink twice.

Dude is alpha as fuck.

Hopefully they are still working on a lot of this stuff. Enemy view distance seems random and the pop-in for foliage is like 10 feet in front of you.

And also, if I'm not mistaken, his heart is not on that side of his chest.

Your heart is basically in the center, but slightly off to the left of your chest. He was putting the knife closer to the upper part of his chest above his heart. I doubt he'd get passed his chest plate with the other soldier pulling back anyway.

I'm surprised people didn't notice what was going on in that scene to begin with. As I watched it the first time, I thought it was obvious that the 2 DD soldiers were not sparring (based on the other 2 guys trying to break it up). When one pulled a knife, it became crystal clear. Then when BB made that soldier stab him, I KNEW it had to be a "you want to pull a knife on your comrade? Then you'll have no problem stabbing me" which is why that soldier was trying to pull away and shaking his head (I personally would have let go of the knife so it dropped). It seems everyone is just now getting that, though. Maybe I just read too much into the trailers as I watch them, since my level of anticipation for any MGS game is always DefCon5.

Am I mad, or was it unveiled that either Big Boss/Solid Snake have their hearts on the other side of their bodies? Some character in MGS game got hit in heart, but he lived because heart was not there. I'm 90% sure that happened in some MGS game.

Fortune, after she got gunned down by Ocelot in MGS2.

It was Fortune from MGS2.

Edit: Beaten.

It's not. I can tell you, from playing GZ, that enemy view distance depends on a number of factors.
Namely:

Difficulty (Normal and Hard seem to augment their vision at a base level)
Time of Day: At night time, view distance is cut in half and even then, they can still use flashlights to revert back to daytime levels.
Weather: Rain makes your footsteps more silent when crouch running, while sandstorms cuts everybody's vision down to a 1/5th approx.
Big Boss' Stance: Standing allows longer distance spotting, crouching requires medium range distance for spotting, while prone requires very close range spotting. Also moving in any of the stances, will increase the distance enemies can spot you as well.
Objects and foliage in the environment: Plants and even some grass helps to hide your visibility a little bit. Large bushes will hide you completely as long as you don't move.
Loud Noises: Explosions and loud gun shots will enhance everybody's vision as they go into caution mode, making it possible to spot you at even longer distances then normal. This also includes going prone. Apparently they can see the scope on your rifle.

Argh, that's right. I saw Unkighted play through MGS2 recently, that epic 100hr story run that had it's thread here on GAF. I remembered that heart fact, but I misremembered who it was that had it.

It's insane how good this looks, gameplay looks smooth as fuck and an open world game that runs at 60fps? jesus fuck YESSSS.

this game convinced me to jump to next-gen (or current gen whatevs). it looks that good. based kojima :bow

this game is everything I want from a metal gear game.

That's the challenge with incorporating Big Boss' army bulding--which is an important part of his story and one of the main differences between him and Solid Snake--into the gameplay. How easy should it be? For most Fulton recovery is too easy, but having to drag soldiers to the truck in Portable Ops was a chore for most players.

Kojima Productions did put out a survey after the release of Peace Walker asking fans for their feedback about various elements in the games.
Could be that the use of Fulton recovery to recruit soldiers is "back by popular demand."

Oh yeah I remember that, it made me anticipate they were in planning for a PW sequel but I never expected it to take so long!

How the game can run 60 frames per second on last-gen is beyond me.

Dem KojiPro wizards.

I can't explain how floored I was while watching this demo, probably the most impressed I've been while watching a video of game since MGS2 e3 trailer.

Game makes these cover based third person shooters and even the corridor fps that are flooding the market look outdated and pedestrian as fuck.

Comparing this to say The Order videos, this looks so imaginative and the attention to detail is so insane makes The Order look like it was conceived almost two generations back. The Phantom Pain is the kind of experience I expect from this current gen of consoles, and at 60fps. FUCK. YES.

The more I watch the demo the more jarring the lack of AF is. When he stops you can see a clear noticeable change in the ground textures.

Lighting is superb though

It runs at 30fps on PS3/X360. Sure it's cross-gen game, but I think achieving 60fps on PS4/X1 is impressive, given that it's an open world game and the game has a bunch of stuff like dynamic weather changes, insane draw distance etc...

I think it's because they are.

I mean, I played Hitman: Absolution a few days ago and I felt like we had come farther then this.

Same with FPS. I don't think I've played one since I gave up playing COD: Ghosts.

I couldn't agree more. The Order undoubtedly has better graphics, but because of the art style, location variety, color and overall scenery, The Phantom Pain is just more impressive to me overall. It's the same as Zelda Wii U, other games may have more realistic graphics, but that game is just more amazing visually for it's art direction alone.

As far as the amount of things you can do in the game, I honestly can't think of anything coming soon that has such a wealth of actions, content and metasystems in place like MGSV does.

And we haven't even seen Metal Gear Online yet, it's nuts!

Don't you be bringing that FILTH up in here.

Yeah wtf is wrong with that game. The only reason I stuck with it were for easy achievements and 47 himself.

It was an ugly game. Art direction, all characters who weren't 47, his handler, and Victoria, gameplay that wasn't all that stealthy, and the story sucked.

And worst of all... NO JESPER KYD.

Thankfully Eidos announced that its next Hitman game would be going back to its former self. Hopefully just like Blood Money. That's still the best Hitman.

Considering this is Kojima's final metal gear (again), big boss and solid snake should both be in the game.
I don't know how, but they should.

Also, I want mg1, 2 and even mgs remade with this engine.
