thanks for the laugh
I miss Croatia-Mexico :(

Hodgson, you absolute dickhead. Lampard is starting against Costa Rica when it's dead rubber for us, his last cap, and we have 3 centre midfielders who could do with the international experience in Henderson, Barkley and Wilshere. There couldn't be a better time to try those 3 out in a 4-3-3

Johnson-----Cahill----Jagielka-----Shaw

----------------Henderson----------------------
---------------------------Wilshere--------------

---------------------Barkley----------------------

---------Sturridge------------------Sterling---
----------------------Rooney---------------------

Done. And Johnson's only in there because Jones is not a rightback. Playing Lampard is a sentimental waste of time

rooney as a number 9?

i've been bleating like a lamb in a vice about england adopting a 4 3 3 since the italy game. it's such a natural shape for our pacebaby squad and france are showing how well it can work in the current international game.

but yeah, there's the rooney question. he's still probably our best individual player, but can he really function as a target man? he just doesn't look comfortable with his back to goal like sturridge does. though i guess the idea of a 4 3 3 is to mitigate those situations.

I am watching the Netherlands v Chile live of course but which game should I watch later. The Mexico one looks pretty good. I think that one matters more too. Right?

Rooney's best season was as a lone forward. I'd be far happier playing Sturridge wide than him to be honest.

Cannot see us beat this Chilean team, serious quality mixed with passion and tactically awareness, but I sad the same about the Spain match. Maybe Robben can prove me wrong, again. Good to see Wijnaldum getting a chance as I like him, specially offensively, more than, a so far somewhat disappointing, de Guzman.

Kuijt wtf, gl with your 100 cap, running 90 min. after Chilean full backs. :p

This is the supposed line up for England tommorow.

Rooney was okay against Uruguay (not just the goal, his finishing was horrendous though), got a one-game stay of execution from me, and pure n.9 is easily his best position

Otherwise, Sturridge at the head of the 3, and Lallana on the right until Chamberlain is fit

The time to go 4-3-3 was the moment Liverpool started beasting with it, as it does the best job hiding Gerrard's deficiencies, giving Henderson a platform to use his strengths, and theoretically gives Wilshere the most space and service to carry and move the ball into attacking areas. At the very least, that fucking owl should have tried it in the friendlies before the tournament. I honestly question whether he even watched Gerrard or Henderson last season, given the way he used them.

Gerrard wasn't good enough, but he was never going to excel playing as a normal DM in a midfield 2. With 5 Liverpool players in the starting 11, 4 of which had excellent seasons last year, he should have taken that as a clue that the system needed adjusting to get the best out of the spine. Negligence, arrogance, and a fear of moving away from what he's comfortable with. Reminds me all over again of his Liverpool days.

B-Rod pls

Haven't seen it mentioned yet. Overnight ratings for USA vs. Portugal:

"Team USA's dramatic 2-2 draw with Portugal Sunday night was the most-watched World Cup game ever on ESPN, drawing an average 9.1 overnight ratings for the sports network.

The broadcast ranked as the third-highest ever recorded in the U.S. English-speaking market for a World Cup match, behind two games carried on ABC, both of them during the 1994 World Cup, which was held in America."
