GAFers with both the Xbox One and PS4...

Why do people take such offense that someone plays their video games on different piece of plastic?

get your shit together GAF. this thread is an embarrassment.

I have no idea why some people feel like this. This is what's making it harder to read threads let alone visit GAF as frequently as I did. If you don't like their preference, you are wrong. Nothing you say will make any sense to them.

This is the topic : GAFers with BOTH the Xbox One and PS4. People who don't own both are replying in a thread that clearly states the opposite.

No thats basing something on facts, not opinions....

As in, it has better specs and therefore its the better game console.

If that's what makes it a better console for YOU, then so be it. That doesn't mean it's like that for everyone else.

I own an expensive German sports car. If I compare the specs of my car to say a cheaper American car like a Corvette, the Corvette is the better sports car and is half as much. The Corvette has more power, is lighter, and is faster overall. But I enjoy my car more than a Corvette, and so do most professional reviewers. Sometimes you need to look at more than just numbers my friend. People are allowed to have opinions; don't fault them for that.

Then why is the PS2 so revered ? That didn't have the better specs. I know people who felt the Wii was better than the 360 and PS3 last generation.

1. Where are my friends playing it?
2. Where can I get it the cheapest?
3. Is it exclusive?

Those are the three deciding factors of which system I buy a game for

Car analogy doesnt make sense because the car will only go faster but wont yield significant difference in what it delivers.

What is your problem? Why are you being so rude? Chill out.

And no I don't own both which is why I (again) didn't state my opinion. Please show me a post in which I did that (because I didn't). I do however know the different features between both consoles well as someone who has used both and can reply to people asking about those features.

There has been some in this thread who have stated their opinion in terms of game buying decisions without owning both. Did you reply to those posts too? Know a decent number have a "target" on me here but the replies are getting pretty old; especially when I'm not saying anything controversial.

The OP asked a question to get replies on how others were deciding to buy multiplats for their Xbox Ones and PS4's. You replying to people asking about features makes zero sense, since they should already know the features between both consoles if they owned both.

And what "target"? I called out MMaRsu, too. It was even in the same post with you quoted. Is it paranoia you feel because you're from TeamXbox.com and now post at WCG and you and numerous others there talk trash about Neogaf? lol

PS4 easily. Best looking multi plats

NeoGaf had engraved this in my brain which made me return my launch Xb1 back in December for a PS4. I picked up BF4 for it was happy with, and loved knowing that whatever game I picked up was going to look the best it could look on a game console. Then the months went by and every other week I saw Microsoft was coming with real updates, adding features. So when they had the bundles on sale I jumped back in and had an XB1 and PS4 for about a month before I decided to trade my PS4 to GameStop. To me BF4 is the most next gen game out there. 64 players, destruction, vehicles the sound and atmosphere is incredible especially compared to COD. So when I got to play BF4 on XB1 and PS4 back to back I was socked. I was expecting this huge difference GAF was telling me about, but it just wasn't there. That made decision so simple for me to go all XB1. Gaming aside it just a better all around machine to me. I was just watching some Wimbledon tennis and got a Skype video call notificatios. It just does more.

And why can't I argue that the PS4 will only output more resolution, but won't yield a significant difference in what it delivers?

LOL wow. I hope you are being sarcastic, but I'm afraid you are not.

Why would that be sarcastic? You actually think that image is an accurate portrayal of what you see on your display? I see compression artefacts all over all 3 of those tiny-ass images.

Use direct-capture screenshots of each version if you want fair comparisons. No one's gonna take you seriously if you use that picture.

Just wondering how old most of you are that are going where your friends go?

I'm jealous, because at my age my friends don't play so much, if at all. I personally know of no one that has a PS4, and I have one friend with an X1. We're supposed to get together online for some Titanfall action after I'm back from vacation.

So you are loyal to a company because you are saying stuff about a console you have never played on but are already saying its the best one for you..

Sorry for the offtopic

I felt the need to "defend" someone whose opinion wasn't valued since I wasn't in line with BruceLeeRoy.

I am saying that the choice for buying a game on a console is based on more than just graphics for some. I know that the PS4 doesn't have that feature, so that makes the choice for me easier. I have no allegiance to MS, since I have had plenty of Sony products among which was a ps3. That is all. Don't want to pollute this thread, so lets move on guys :)

I am 30, and I still have friends I play with, but it isn't like it used to be when I was 25. One nice thing about being 30 is that I'm not as affected by the prices of all things video game related.

No but letting uninformed friends buy the more expensive, weaker console is not cool.

Hope you never let your friends by a NES then.

Since you know, the Master System was the more powerful and therefore superior console right? Or hopefully prevented any "uninformed" PlayStation purchase with a view to swaying them towards a Nintendo 64?

Turn it up.

Multiplatform on Xbox One/PC, PS4 is only for exclusives.
Can you explain your reasoning for this? I noticed you added your psn ID to your profile, but you have not earned any trophies on PS4, so I find it hard to believe that you actually own one. I hope you can prove me wrong though.

I pick and choose depending on the game. Sometimes I just fancy playing a certain game on a specific console.

No real reason why I choose. From recent purchases - Watchdogs/Sniper III - PS4 and Wolfenstein/Murdered:Soul Suspect - Bone.

I enjoy trophies and achievements so it doesn't really matter what console I play the game on, however I'm not a gamer who grinds out Plats or 1K scores.

I only have a PS4 at the moment, but I will have an XB1 once Halo collection is out. So when that happens:

XB1 = Exclusives only
PS4 = Everything else.

No way in hell I would ever play 3rd party software on the bone. It's going to collect dust, maybe be used for media if I ever move it to a different room, and play exclusives only. Basically exactly what I did last gen, just reversed.

To you guys who have both consoles and have given them your fair share of time in multiplayer:

Last gen I would go online on ps3 and it was a graveyard basically, no one talks. Meanwhile on my Xbox 360 I experienced a great community due to their high social interaction and communication.
Is this the same on the new consoles?

Because even thou I love everything playstation I'm making the xbox my primary console if so.

"features" over games bitches. Gaf doesn't know shit. Fuck exclusives

Better performace equates to more possibilities when making a game....

Well wake me up when that actually happens. So far, the PS4s two big exclusives haven't been great games. They look nice, sure, especially for a console. The other box has really pretty games too. But if that's all it is, well...

the other guys have delivered a better overall package, and I find the games on it to be better, more entertaining games. (and actually, the best games to date are on the Wii U, but maybe good games and game play don't matter the way they used to now that pixel counting is so in).

If you just want the best graphics, and the most potential for graphics, maybe you should just make the jump to PC?

In any case, having the best specs is not what defines the best consoles, as others have pointed out.

I'm the same as ILemonDemon. I prefer to play on Xbox One. My PS4 is pretty much only for the big Sony exclusives and the free PS+ titles.

Main reason is that I vastly prefer the Xbox One controller to the Dualshock 4. The offset sticks feel more natural for me and not having to charge it after 5-7 hours is great (Had to charge my DS4 three times to finish Second Son).

Second reason - ease of use. At any point while I'm watching TV and feel like playing a game, I can almost instantly jump in. For example, my wife needs to go do something on the computer for ten minutes but will be back shortly and wants to keep watching a show. I pick up the controller and immediately start searching out collectibles in Watch Dogs. The Resume Games feature is especially fantastic - no need to even wait for the game to load - the character is still standing right where I left him a couple days ago. Wife comes back, controller is put down as I say "Xbox, Watch TV" and voila, we are back to enjoying a show together.

I have plenty more reasons for preferring the Xbox but those are two of the biggest.

BTW - gamertag and PSN ID are both my username so you can be sure I own both ;)

In my experience, multiplayer lobbies have been pretty good on Xbox One. Haven't played as much multi on PS4 but with the Destiny Alpha it was just like on PS3...silent. I tried talking to all the strangers who joined/matched into my game and no one was wearing a mic.

When I get another PS4 it will strictly be for exclusives. Too many games have a poor control scheme on that system.

Yeah same here. In fairness tho Titanfall on X1 is no different. Total silence in damn near every game.

Xbox One - Racers (rumble triggers are a game changer), sports, and exclusives

PS4 - most multi platforms, multiplayer, exclusive

Either - If there is a game cheaper on one than the other or if there is a significant feature difference between the two

Honestly I don't hear much talking on either console. Most games are dead silent save for the occasional CoD match where you either get friendly gamers or idiots.
Titanfall has been dead silent for me, and BF4 is surprisingly quiet

I only have a xbox one right now but I plan on getting a ps4 the day bloodborne comes out. I'll probably end up getting multiplayer games on the xbox and single player games on ps4, mostly because I have seven friends who I game with reguraly who have xbox ones.

Everything on PS4 since it's the superior hardware and experience thus far. Exclusives on Xbone.

My original idea was PS4 for games and Xbone for streaming, movies and entertainment but it hasn't quite worked out that way due to poor quality playback and lack of streaming.

It has Killer Instinct and Ryse though.

riiiight...

How do you decide which console to buy games on? I feel bad if I leave one console sitting there without touching it for months on end...

If you buy the good exclusives on each platform none of them will sit there for months unless you have narrow tastes.

This is similar to how I felt. Forums and my friends engraved the message that the PS4 was the better choice because of the graphics so I changed my mind last minute and went PS4. I was always happy with the decision for the most part but still had this nagging feeling that the XB1 was what I really wanted. I finally picked up an XB1 a few weeks ago and I am so glad I did. I love the way this system feels. It just feels like a Next Gen system. And this graphical difference is really almost non existent. I have tried playing the same games on both and really can barely tell any difference. If anything it is just in my head because I know there is suppose to be some difference

Wow that is surprising honestly. I would of thought that with all these social features that the new consoles have people would of been more social overall, yet it looks like its all taking steps backwards.

I was led to believe that the XB1 ports of the PS4 games would make my eyes bleed. So far that hasn't been the case so I tend to prefer to game mostly on the XB1 because:

A) it is always on and suspend/resume makes it easy to play for a few minutes and drop it at a moments notice. Killer feature for me due to family/child/pet duties encroaching on me time.

and 2) I just prefer the UI

And I know this doesn't affect everyone buy my PS4 is loud as hell. I think Watch_Dogs may kill the damn thing.

Unfortunately this is true. It has been a gradual decline since the first couple of years with XBL. It used to be great. People communicating to their teammates or just generally having fun conversations. Then as the communities grew the vocal minority of assholes grew louder and eventually everyone just went to party chat or packed up their headsets altogether. Shame, really.

I think my friends (who only buy 1 console per generation) are getting Destiny on Xbone because we're big Halo players and they gotta have that MC Collection, but I'll be getting Destiny on PS4 because it's the superior version.

It's hard choosing game quality over ability to play with friends, but friends offer no guarantee while the game quality will always be there. Would be awesome if Bungie enabled cross-platform play for Destiny.

People like to private chat with friends now while playing.

Xb1 for most games for the better controller and friends ps4 for exclusives and maybe sp only games or games that my xbox friends probably won't play.

I mostly get multiplats on PS4 and stick with exclusives for XB1, the exception being if my group of friends collectively decides to get a game for XB1 I'll opt for that version.

Yep. I completely agree with you. I love the little extra things the Xbox One can do and it is whisper quiet during gameplay compared to my PS4. I don't think the slight power difference has been worth it so far considering I still much prefer the Xbox controller.
