GAFers with both the Xbox One and PS4...

Single player and online multi - ps4

Local multi - xb1

I hook my xb1 and wiiU to a big tv in my living room for family and friends for kinect and local multi like sports games and some other.

I have ps4 and pc for another tv in my private study. I dont want to have it in my living room since often i prefer to play alone and by myself.

Some of the replies are ridiculous. Its not that difficult to understand why some people purchase multiplat for xb1.

My friends know what they're getting into. Calling people uninformed because they buy the Xbox One is nothing less than dumb and short-sighted.
I never said people were uninformed because they buy an xbone. That is not what I said at all.

I have had both since midnight launch.

I buy all multiplatform games on PS4, because tesolution, performence, graphics etc.

Also all my 360 friends converted to PS4 this gen.

Exclusives I get for my XBO. So far, I only have Ryse and Forza which I bought on launch night.

Looking forward to the Master Chief Collection, and possibly Sunset Overdrive right now for my XBO.

Getting

Destiny
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Driveclub
Evolve
Assassins Creed Unity
Far Cry 4
Call of Duty Advanced Warfare
The Last of Us: Remastered
GTAV: Remastered
Alien Isolation
Battlefield: Hardline

and possibly a few others this fall for my PS4.

I called upon my friends to buy a PS4. Alas, many have gone for for the Xbox One.

The worst thing is, some friends have a PS4 and others the X1. So I'm torn; I won't really enjoy the best version of multiplats because well...who wants to be forever alone? Unless the games are more single-player centric...in which case PS4 version it is.

Then again, the Master Chief Collection will be epic and so I'm glad most of my mates are on X1.

Did he say at launch though? I recommended all my friends that if and when they buy a next gen system, they should buy a PS4 if mostly they are going to play CoD, Fifa and other multiplats.

launch till now. the only words should be "not yet" unless you're into wasting money on half-baked hardware and software. The idea that the PS4 is a must for multiplats is bizarre because the differences are mostly small, and the multiplat games so far have been largely trash. The best version of Ghosts is just not playing it, imo.

Trust me I own all 3 - there is no difference between the 2, I don't care what the ps fan boys say

Ryse blew me away much much more than infamous

We can see how much Microsoft fucked up when before people played online/multiplatorms on 360 an exclusives on PS3, and now it's the complete opposite.

I don't plan on buying both consoles this gen though. Getting a PS4 for Destiny, and all my friends that owned a 360 switched to PS4 (again, good job Microsoft).

If single-player, PS4.

If multiplayer, Xbox One.

More or less this. My Bone owning friends are very casual, so if it's something like Mass Effect's multiplayer, I'd still go PS4 because there is no chance in hell of them buying that game.

a PS4 at Destiny launch, and all my friends that owned a 360 switched to PS4 (again, good job Microsoft).

Yeah. I'm not sure why they weren't clear that all most people wanted were upgraded 360s and not that cluster fuck. At least Sony gave us what we wanted.

I only have PS4 but for me;

- The Exclusives (obviously)
- Game genre and controller
- SP or online (where your online friends are)
- Price

How do you decide which console to buy games on? I feel bad if I leave one console sitting there without touching it for months on end...
I buy the superior version (usually PS4) and also trophies factor in as I prefer that system to achievements.

I do feel bad about my Xbox sitting there unused but it's only for exclusives and when Halo drops this fall it'll be getting most of my attention. To be fair I got everything for £250 so I just got it thinking 'I won't get an offer this good before fall'.

What irritated me was how much I disliked Titanfall. I got a great deal on that bundle, and my Xbox exists so the kids can play PvZ on it. I've played maybe 15 matches of Titanfall before giving up.

Like you, Halo is the next game I'm getting on it. Maybe Madden. My kids will get Minecraft.

I had heard that Ryse was actually decent from a handful of people. I'll keep an eye out for a deal on it, thanks. After I finish Watch Dogs, it's a long wait to late August.

I play both pretty evenly. I like the fact that I get cash for achievements, so I usually buy arcade/indie multiplats on the xb1.
Everything else just depends on friends.

XB1- Exclusives and Multiplats
PS4 - Exclusives Only

Even if the game is better resolution or FPS on the PS4 I prefer the XB1 due to the controller, friends and achievements. I did the same last gen with the PS3 keeping it for exclusives only and the X360 as my main console for everything else.

If I'm that bothered for getting the best resolution and frame rate I'll just get the game on PC as I did with FarCry 3 and some other titles.

Barring exclusive content, whichever console runs the game better. It did feel weird playing Trials Fusion with the Dualshock 4 at first, though. But I got used to it.

The differences are not small at all. In the future the difference will only get larger as well. What half baked hardware are you talking about exactly? The multiplat games have been 'trash' according to you maybe. But there are plenty of amazing multiplat games coming in the future.

There is a difference though. It's fine if you don't see it, or if you think its negligible, but there is a difference. To say there is no difference is just plain wrong, and saying "i own all 3" doesn't change that fact. I've played BF4 on X1 and PS4 and i noticed not only an IQ difference, but also a framerate difference.

Some people are more sensitive to the differences than others, you don't have to be a PS fanboy to say there are differences. Smh.

Bought all three for their respective exclusives.

The Xbox One currently gets the most attention because I still dabble in Titanfall and my 9 month pregnant wife, for obvious reasons, likes the voice controls.

The PS4, apart from PS+ games, I've sold all the games I've bought for it due to uninterest or simply being done with them.

Trying to decide between which console to buy Destiny for. Despite assuming that Destiny will be technically superior on PS4, I have more friends who have an Xbox One than friends with PS4.

The struggle is real.

I own all 3 and there is no difference (except the ps4 is heating my apartment like a heater LOL WHY?????) and anyone that disagrees is fanboy and doesn't smart

truthbomb confirmed

I find the xbox operating system, online infrastructure and the joypad to be more of my liking,
so I get most stuff there unless there is a reason not to.
oh yeah, legacy friend list really is a factor too.
plus the initial launch games lineup pretty much chiseled out the usage each console got out of my spare time, so I dont feel I'm neglecting something, op

For a game like Destiny you got to go where your friends are.

This has never made any sense to me.

Where we differ here is that I really enjoyed Titanfall, I live with someone else with an Xbox and he was kind enough to do this neat 'home share' feature so I also had access to all of his games for no additional charge (we went halves on Titanfall) so I really can't complain.

Whoever has the most exclusive stuff for their version. Most of the time it's Microsoft so I will go xbox most of the time. Only game I won't do this for is destiny, which I will still get on xbox due to some real friends getting it for that system.

I use the Xbox as a harmony remote for TV and I rent the exclusives, wasn't going to pay for gold, but now that it's PS+ style will keep subbed for the free games and that's about as much as I'm going to support Microsoft.

PS4 is my main console so it's my go to for everything else.

I also have a Wii U for exclusives, but that's OT.

Every multiplat will be purchased for my PS4. Xbox One is exclusives only. A reversal of last gen between PS3 and 360. And the fact that my brother went with PS4 only (after not owning a PlayStation since PS2) I don't have to worry about where he's playing multiplayer games. Microsoft really screwed up with XB1 being significantly weaker.

why not? its very easy, just use both of them and sooner or later you will like one more than the other.
they are different enough for this to happen. for everyone.

That would have been a reasonable line of thought last gen when going from 360 to PS3 because the experience was so completely superior on the 360 when it came to playing games with friends and feeling a part of a community. Now that isn't the case whatsoever they are both feature for feature and if anything the PS4 is actually smoother as a OS than my X1. I can jump around with barely a hitch in the PS4 when the X1 can lag on me. Now regardless of that I still would never get a MP game on PS4 just because the OS is slightly more preferable or I like the UI more I would base it on actual factors that will influence my time with the game.

I go with Xbone because superior online multiplayer.

I keep seeing people say this and i keep scratching my head. Are still in 2008? I have 140+ hours on BF4 on my PS4 and it's been no different from any of the time i spent with MP games on the 360, or with my time with Titanfall on my X1. I can understand saying XBL is better because it doesn't go down as often as PSN does, but the actual MP portions of games being superior on XBL? How?

Different factors for different people. I know some (and maybe some in here) like getting multiplayer games on the Xbox One because they can get game invites while watching TV and then jump straight into that game's lobby and play.

They aren't (at least not yet)... There's still differences between the two. PS4 has features the XB1 doesn't have and vice versa.

People are ignorant.

for me xb1 has better chat quality and less lag online.

I'm sorry.
That is ridiculous.

That would be like me saying I prefer getting mp games on my Wii U because I love how my Mii character announces my friends to me.

What features are different? I don't notice any glaring omissions whatsoever on either side.

First matter is friends. If I'll be playing multiplayer then PS4 is the platform I'll use.
Secondly, if there are performance issues on either versions I'll grab the other.
Thirdly, I like the interface and feel of the XO better (MS in general actually), so probably XO when first and second argument don't apply. Also, achievements>trophies in my book.

During the previous generation I've at random bought some games for PS3 just to feel better about my purchase of all consoles... That will probably repeat it self during this generation.

Don't bother with him BruceLeeRoy, he is big fan of the Xbox platform.

they may be "feature for feature" ~equal on paper, but on my everyday usage I still find the xbone much more easy to use. be it the snap stuff, the multitasking, the notifications, the suspend, or even the way the user interface just looks, it just feels more comfortable there.
and i dont even use kinect for voice commands...

plus also I had the (false) idea that 360 ui was the shit and xbone's is worse, but recently I re-opened my 360 to download the charlie murder and ssfighter games, and the ui really feels a generation behind xbone's
