Ref missed a penaty for Holland in the first half so overall it balances out. Props to Mexico though, they have a quality team.

Did you watch this game?

Netherlands didn't do squat in the first half and were thoroughly outplayed. Heck, the ref had to stop play because the Dutch players were either melting or crying about the heat.

Did you read his post? The part where he talks about the second half, when mexico did, in fact, jackshit.

It was a cruel end, but Mexico didn't deserve the win. Netherlands were the better team. It was a pen btw, not sure what you guys are talking about.

Mexicoooo ;_;

I wanted moar Herrera, moar Ochoa, more Inés Sainz + Vanessa Huppenkothen

epic game still, with a different seeding Mexico would have made it far, I don't see many teams who could beat them really.

Because intention makes no difference...
quick Google search on law 12

Should a player of the defending team intentionally commit one of the above nine offenses within the penalty-area, he shall be penalized by a PK.
A PK can be awarded irrespective of the position of the ball, if in play, at the time an offense within the penalty-area is committed.
A player committing any of the five following offenses:
playing in a manner considered by the referee to be dangerous, e.g. attempting to kick the ball while held by the goalkeeper;

charging fairly, i.e. with the shoulder, when the ball is not within playing distance of the players concerned and they are definitely not tying to play it;

when not playing the ball, intentionally obstructing an opponent, i.e. running between the opponent and the ball, or interposing the body so as to form an obstacle to an opponent;

Yeah, I hate this term used in relation to football. Always will be known as diving to me.

Flopping is the term used in basketball for similar shit. Should just be used in that sport.

I don't see why its an issue, its kind of obvious what it means so its not like its confusing. Its just another word for the same thing.

Fucking heart-breaking. There's no reason he should have gone in like that either, there was three other defenders on him. Fuck man, first Chile now Mexico... I'm rooting for you Ticos.

And even though Germany has eliminated us before, Destroy Holland with No Mercy.

They WE will.

Hopefully we even get that far... :/

Reported.

Being butthurt and salty is ok, but there is a line fuckface

I think you're overreacting and being a bit too harsh on the guy, it was a heat of the moment reaction for him to post that, I don't see it as racist or anything like that either, it's just in poor taste, but not really offensive (IMHO)

And calling him "fuckface" sure doesn't really help your cause either, calm down dude.

Soccer soccer soccer soccer soccer.

Flop flop flop flop flop.

Were talking about the same thing.

No idea why Mexico went in a defensive shell with a team with so many scorers in the Netherlands.

It was frustrating to see.

This, my friends, is what happens when you sit back with just a one goal lead. This is the Netherlands were talking about here, you can't get complacent. Mexico did and that's that

At the end of the day, this is what did Mexico in. Mexico's defense was far from impenetrable, it made zero sense to rely it on it 100%. Maybe if they had a 2-0 lead, but they didn't. They led merely by 1. You don't bank your win on a defense full of holes, no offense, and 1 goal. WTF were they thinking?

Platinum Trophy: Learned to Shit While Upright Again.
You could tell the Heat did play a huge role
NED tried to save themselves for the 2nd half

MEX got the score but rather than staying a little aggressive, they tried to go by bleeding the clock and go into defensive stance/hold off

NED just went on the offensive attack
So many corners, possession of the ball near the MEX side of the field

Also that was a penalty, you better be fucking perfect when going for the ball, you take the risk in the box of giving up the penalty if you miss or do a foul
That's what happened

How based is van Gaal, switching formations three or four times during a match, putting a RW at LB, RB and then CF and ultimately successful in completely befuddling Herrera's plan.

Dat finish!

I was going for Netherlands 100% but even I had to feel a little sorry for Mexico to lose like that. Late finishes are cruel cruel things.

Pretty clear and shameful dive. Robben was doing that shit all game long but whatever. It's a part of the game and Mexico had their chances. They played too sloppy in the 2nd half and allowed too many damn corners. That's like playing with fire with a team the class of Ned. Didn't like that it took Herrera so long to put Chicharito in. Would have helped them keep the attack going. Oh well. Mexico had a great run and gave us some great moments considering where they were before the WC.

Got up too late and missed the whole game ;.;

Sounds like Mexico had a really good game and god Ochoa was on it again?

Mexico will be fine. The next WC will prob the last with this generation. Hopefully it includes Vela next time, they could have used him.

Ages of some of their guys for next WC

Ochoa - 32 y/o
Dos Santos - 29
Chicharito - 30
Guardado - 31
Vela - 29

Maybe they actually make it out of Quarters next time, eh?

Wrong about commas, wrong about everything
So many saints in this forum. I bet if you get actually hit in the 94 minute of a game you'd try to fall as subtle as you can to not risk looking too dramatic. Nobody seems to care that the Ref denied Robben a clear penalty in the first halftime.

Mexico is cursed, they wont qualify further than this in a world cup.

Cheering for the germans in the final at Mexico '86 had it effects.

If everyone in the world except the US uses the metric system, why do they still call it the 18-yard box? Because they know our words for things are better.

Game should have gone to extra time. NED would still have won, but it was unfortunate to go through on a last second PK (although argument could be made they deserved on earlier).

Either way Ochoa had some huge saves.
The Gio goal was superb.
The Sneijder goal was technical perfection.
