Remember Iran and how they parked the mother of all buses behind the ball against you guys? It's hard doing anything positive when the box is clogged up. Almost every good chance we've had came on the counter attack. Costa Rica absolutely has to play a defensive game and I don't fault them for playing this style. But you can't blame us for not wanting to run into a wall and be dispossessed. A team like Costa Rica would make you pay on the counter.

meant to say Total Football, which is more based on the swapping of positions on the field. This team is not based on that philosophy at all.

Tiki-taka I could actually see the resemblance to. However, I don't think it's applicable in this case merely because CR has 10 men behind the ball pretty much at all times. They're playing very similarly to Greece right now, not that I blame them at all. That's how you're going to take out the Netherlands, because they feast on counter attacks and don't have the midfield to pick apart good defenses.

Bringing up Total Football with current Netherlands teams is like bringing up 'W-M' everytime you talk about England. It's stupid and disingenuous.
