It seems to me that a lot of people in this thread don't know the difference between an actual dive and acting on a foul... Yes, it looks stupid and annoys most of us when Robben flies left and right, but in most cases he's still getting fouled and possibly wouldn't get the freekick if he didn't act on it.

You guys are going crazy with the Robben accusations. He's a bit of a diver, but he has toned it way down these past few years. He actually apologized on live TV for diving once during the Mexico game. He did that because he has been heavily criticized for it in the past, criticism that mainly came from the Dutch themselves. Have you ever seen a player apologize for a dive? Robben has been wanting to get rid of that image for a few years now.

He hasn't dived once during this game.

About Robben diving - stop it guys, he's played well so far, that was a FK, and a team that's good enough in comparison to another should be able to make any amount of diving irrelevant, IMO. If anything, us losing to a dive would suck because the people around me would complain about it for years to come but I doubt that's gonna happen. It certainly hasn't happened so far.

If only you knew...actually we have quite some injuries, but they all happened before the tournament even started. Why do you think we played without real LB and RB? Injuries. We lack midfield players. Klose, Khedira and Schweinsteiger were recently injured and are not quite at 100% yet (although Schweini and Khedira made a great recovery during the tournament). Trust me, before this WC started many people didn't expect us to come this far.

Remember Iran and how they parked the mother of all buses behind the ball against you guys? It's hard doing anything positive when the box is clogged up. Almost every good chance we've had came on the counter attack. Costa Rica absolutely has to play a defensive game and I don't fault them for playing this style. But you can't blame us for not wanting to run into a wall and be dispossessed. A team like Costa Rica would make you pay on the counter.

I understand the difficulty. I'm saying a bunch of midfield masturbation with the ball is not how you beat a team standing around not even challenging you for the ball.

Tiki-taka I could actually see the resemblance to. However, I don't think it's applicable in this case merely because CR has 10 men behind the ball pretty much at all times. They're playing very similarly to Greece right now, not that I blame them at all. That's how you're going to take out the Netherlands, because they feast on counter attacks and don't have the midfield to pick apart good defenses.
