Take a look at Klose, shape isnt that important sometimes its important just to have this guy with you for the big ones. Experience is key

Not the same, aside from being a totally different player, Robben is far more essential to the Dutch team than Klose ever was. I'm sure he'll still play in four years, but I can't imagine he'll be anywhere near as good as he is now, and without that...

Plus, robbens strengths depend quite a lot on his physique and fitness, unlike Klose.

I wasnt comparing both of them, I was just saying you can stay competetive in your "niche" if you stay fit and are in a good medical condition. And i dont see Robben leaving Munich because he has never been that fit somewhere else. So as long as he stays there with Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt, he should be fine, even in 2 and 4 years

If we look at Holland its the other way around, Van Persie is great at club level but shit when wearing orange. I rather had it the other way around, I don't give much fucks about clubs abroad.

You should see Lewandowski lol. I know, without the team it's impossible to play well but he really tends to play badly in international games.

When he got married people joked that he better take his bride to Germany for the wedding night because in Poland he won't be able to score.

What a stupid fucking post. Is your girlfriend both blind and deaf? That's the only excuse she wouldn't know Messi was playing, if she was actually watching the game. Cause you know, you only saw the guy every few seconds, with the announcers mentioning his name only 57,923 times.

Oh wait, nevermind, that actually proves that Messi sucks. Cause your girlfriend (if she exists) couldnt tell if he was playing. Yeah, that's it.

Also, the "greatest of all time" is such a ridiculous title. Standards are constantly changing, and you cant compare players between generations. The contexts, environments, and standards are completely different. Messi is an incredible player, and one of the best (if not the best) playing today. Isn't that enough? Oh wait, your GF didnt notice him, so I guess all his stats and achievements are meaningless.

don't take it so personally that you have to attack a man's girlfriend. Pathetic.

Really horrible match last night. Too bad one has to win.

Easy win for Germany on Sunday.

4:1

Weltmeister.
Argentina neutralized RvP, Robben and Huntelaar. All of these are theoretically better strikers than what Germany has. I favor Germany's chances better, but most likely it will again be an arduous affair.

I'm rooting for Argentina on Sunday. They must teach the Germans a lesson that they're not really good just because they defeated an awful team 7 to 1.

We won against Portugal 4:0 and had good tactical games against USA and France. We ar enot good because of one game alone...yet Im still waiting to see a good game from Argentina, but I dont think I will see one during this world cup...

I really doubt Germany takes the cup... they always struggle against a good defense and this will be the first time they are confronted with one.

*preparing to eat my words

1:0 by a free kick around the 15th minute for Germany, after that the match will either go like GER-FRA or like GER-BRA. In any case I think we'll be able to take it.

That's been our biggest asset this tournament so far: We don't even need to get into the box to make a goal. And getting a free kick about 30m from goal isn't the hardest thing in the world, even with good defenders.

I wonder how Netherlands-Brazil will look like on Saturday... Both teams probably don't care for the losers final, but maybe Brazil will want to redeem themselves as much as they can. The problem is they could get a second harsh beating if Holland plays seriously (but maybe they won't ?).

Thanks Toni Kroos :)

*nods*

After Sunday it's back to league football. 29th July Feyenoord playing for a CL ticket

lol, fat chance

I don't really care for league football, especially the way it's in lately (nice to see Feyenoord finally getting better though). But it would be interesting to look at the new talent, now that this generation is done. I don't think we'll ever get the situation again where the likes of Robin van Persie, Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, Rafael van der Vaart and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar all emerge at relatively the same time and are decisive already at 18, but at the same time I'm not fearful of the future. Luckily our defenders are getting better. Now midfield is a waste though.

That's not even collegiate level bad. That's, like, maybe lower division AYSO bad.

Just...I can't even fathom.

Wait... that's Germany's side of the pitch. Why would the brazilian backs be on that line?

a pretty bad match overall but Argentina was the better team throughout the match.

Unfortunately they didnt score when they had the chance.

Thankfully they won it in the penalties.

Now Argentina just have to beat Germany....That one is going to be hard :(

Not worried about the Dutch defense in 4 years, but who's going to replace Robben?

Posted it in the other thread but we've got a lot of attacking talents like Depay and Boëtius though I think the right wing will probably belong to this guy in 4 years if de Boer manages to keep his attitude a bit grounded:

Furthermore this tournament showed that we do have the building blocks for the next years to come. It's also going to be interesting to see what Hiddink is going to do with the squad but with Danny Blind they will probably just go forward with the path they have taken. Though it remains to be seen in RvP will stay captain.

lol @ turning the 7:1-win into an argument against Germany. What do we care, what the general consensus ("Germany will destroy Argentina") is. As long as the players can keep it cool, and I would assume they can, it will be fine. It will be a hard, long game, but it's possible for Germany to take the cup.

Germany 2:1 Argentina

I'm brazilian but i've never been a soccer fan. But i must say that these last few weeks of the second phase of world cup have been insane. The Ger Vs Bra game, i was watching the game with my mother and we weren't exactly rooting for everyone, but we were annoyed by how some of the brazilian fans have been towards the WC. From wishing death to the daughter of the colombian player that injured Neymar, to crying for neymar as if he was dead.

Then the game started, 10 min in germany scores. a couple of minutes later, second score. I looked to my mom and said "well, they can still recover from that, at least the game will get interesting now", and went to the kitchen to get more popcorn, and then before i came back, my mom shouted "OH SHIT, ANOTHER ONE FROM GERMANY". before i sat on the couch, germany was scoring their 5th goal against Brazil. After that we were just in utter disbelief. I mean, the first 3 goals are funny and all, but every time that they scored after that was just a strange feeling of witnessing history in front of us.

I mean, i feel bad for the players and the coach, but it was like seeing a person saying that he was an expert in cooking and destroying the kitchen afterwards. They couldn't mess this up so bad. Do you guys think that this thing will bring severe consequences to their career? I've seen articles mentioning how brazil's soccer will need restructuring. This was easily the worst day in the life of everyone involved in brazil's team alongside their sport fans.

How do you see this, do you feel bad for players? or think that they had a job to do, and couldn't make so many mistakes in an important match like this?

I feel bad for them, but this proves that even if you are considered the "best", you need to prove even harder why you are considered this, and i think that a lot of brazilians took for granted their great performance in soccer because of past accomplishments.

I just hope that they don't get a similar destruction against the dutch because that would be so sad for them.

No intent to offend any brazilian friend, i'm not a soccer fan so i don't know anything about the sport, even though the country is very passionate about it.

If Holland's defense was able to neutralize Argentina's offense, then yeah.... i REALLY don't see them scoring against Germany, unless they strike sheer dumb luck or something. Even then it won't help since they'll probably already be behind 2-0 or something.

The only team that can beat Germany this WC is Germany.

Not sure if mentioned, but...

World Cup 2014: Louis van Gaal says no-one wanted first penalty

Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal says two of his players refused to take the first penalty in their World Cup semi-final shootout defeat by Argentina. "I asked two players to take the first ball before ending up with Vlaar," said new Manchester United boss Van Gaal.

Any ideas who the 2 Dutch players who bottled it are?

Yeah, I mean, Holland's defence got owned by Heracles last year.

Think about it.... Heracles offense did what Argentina offense could not.

This third placed match needs to be cancelled. Nobody cares.

I'm sure the last thing the Brazilian players want right now is having to play again. Will the Brazilian fans even turn up?

Its the last chance for our golden generation...in 4 years they could be to old :-(

Considering this should be the last time many Brazilian players ever play for their team they should definitely want it on their home soil.

You'll never see the likes of Fred, hulk, and Oscar in a Brazil shirt again.
