Not the first. And more than one ex-Bizarre employee works at/with Evo, namely the guy who project-led PGR4 (Ged Talbot) and another who did all their video editing (Eamon Urtone). The latter is the most obvious, in that majority of their promo videos have near-identical editing techniques to the PGR and Blur videos.I've only really just started to take some interest in this title recently. I watched some videos of it and I'm assuming I'm not one of the first to instantly think of Project Gotham right? And it's Kudos system?
Can someone explain to me why I should be excited for this game?
graphics are good for sure but gameplay wise it just looks dull, the track layouts don't seem all that interesting / challenging either - obviously I'm only going on the short amount of content we've seen so far but I'm just not getting the appeal over something like Horizon.
I also played it at Eurogamer last year which was a long time ago I know but the driving wasn't great then (felt arcadey but not in a particularly fun way), has anyone played it recently (or at least this year) and got some updates on their thoughts?
I'm not hating on it at all just want some input from those excited as to what's exciting them besides the graphics.
Is this the right thread for this?

ROFLMAO!! I just showed this to my cousin and my friend and both of them thought the left was real life and the right is Xbox 360. I am DEAD! I wish I could have recorded the reaction.
My cousin was like, "how can they advertise that? That's wrong. That shit looks like a 360 game and they gonna advertise it like that?! Nah brotha nah"
I see this being said a lot about Horizon 2, but from Playground Games' own comments, it seemed they were aiming at something realistic, not stylish:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/06/18/forza-horizon-2as-radical-new-weather-ign-first
They keep hyping how "realistic" their wet surfaces/lighting/sky/clods are throughout the whole article. It's clear they were aiming for a realistic look.

When did this "stylish" excuse even start? If the developer is saying they were gunning
for something realistic, then why are folks claiming otherwise?
It's supposed to be in the middle ground between arcade and sim. Should be really nice.Game looks incredible. The raindrops on the car are insane. The delay definitely paid off because it's looking really good. How arcadey is the game again?

Yay !!

Pretty good comparison. Crazy how much of a difference there is between these games graphically and in terms of realism. I also feel that in terms of visual vehicle handling feedback, camera response etc, DriveClub looks slightly better, and has a greater sense of speed.
Yeah but, those Jaggie power lines though :/true, they should also throw in a random meteor strike.

that's what I call "weather."
Am I the only one who hate racing games that does that? It's pretty much the norm nowadays since I think Forza 3?
If you play with a steering wheel it's THE WORST. You are forced to do a race before you have a chance to setup your controls and setup your driving aids. It's basically just a waste of time going around the track with a pad and all the aids on until you can finally get to the menu.

That is unless they let you change those things in the options on the fly.Am I the only one who hate racing games that does that? It's pretty much the norm nowadays since I think Forza 3?

Did I miss this? Best burn I've read in a while, sir.Did you also write a dissertation on martyrdom?
Because it doesn't look nearly as good as Driveclub. Honestly, I think FH2 will be so fun, and it looks really nice considering, but it doesn't look close to DC graphically and some people are saying it goes for a more stylized approach to alleviate those comparisons.
I need a new wheel. Or perhaps my older Logitech will work. But I need a wheel for this game. Just looks so damn good.
I actually had to bite the bullet last gen and purchase two wheels. Would absolutely LOVE if that is not the case, but not holding my breath. The good news is the PS wheels also usually are compatible with PC so that's at least a positive, at least for myself as I also own a gaming PC.I too want a new wheel, problem is, I don't know of one that works with both the PS4 and Xbox One.

Your best bet will be a Fanatec wheel.
With that said, there's a rumor from the GT6 thread that the kings, Logitech, are returning to making racing wheels. They won't be cross compatible, but it'll be great if they do end up making wheels again. It'd also almost certainly mean that those DFGT/G25/G27 drivers many of us have been hoping for are going to happen.

Flawed comparison. Not surprised at the comparisons in here. It's all a bit ridiculous, like comparing The Last of Us to GTA V in terms of graphical fidelity. One is open world where you can drive through fields and forests, the other is a closed track racer.
The only wheels available for current gen are thrustmaster wheels. The TX for XB1 and the T300 for PS4. Both work on PC but none of them work with the other platform.
They are essentially the same wheel working with all the same accessories.
They are blocking the cross compatibily in the software basically.
I have a TX on the way and I hope somebody will hack up some kind of hybrid firmware someday.
There's also the T500RS, which is compatible with the PS3, PS4, and PC.
Flawed comparison.
Despite taking place on closed tracks, DriveClub is still rendering massive environments.
True...if you can find one. They are pretty much out of stock everywhere. Pretty sure Thrustmaster has stopped production.
What pisses me off with the PS4 is that there will never be an "Official PS4 wheel" since there is no system level support for wheels. The game itself has to support it so the compatibily will always be on a game to game basis.
What makes you think there will never be one? It's still the first year and the PS4 hasn't even had it's first big racing game come out for there to be enough demand for system level compatibility. Wait till GT7 before writing it off entirely.
Sure, in theory anything is possible. Having system level support however would mean that Sony would have to pay for licensing which I doubt will happen. They prefer to leave it to wheel manufacturers to deal with each developpers instead.
What about the PS3? How was it implemented there? (Not a rhetorical question. I don't know the answer)
There was licensing deals with the manufacturers and with Immersion (the company responsible for the vibration/ffb) that allowed system level support of the wheels.
I was under the impression Logitech was in the process of exiting the wheel peripheral market... and as a result no longer updating firmware for their existing devices.Oh. But you think it won't happen again? What has changed?
That's the one.Driveclub |OT| Kudos to Evolution

Hopefully I am wrong.
From anyone?... The software (games) will be there soon enough, it would be foolish for hardware manufacturers to avoid the market. DC, Project Cars, GT7 (inevitably)... They all NEED wheel support to satiate the hardcore.
