Overall Character Design: Mystery at Murasame Castle version
Hair: Black (Don't let him fall into the blue haired swordsman trap because of his in-game sprite)
Attire: Captain Rainbow
He could get a Samurai Warriors 3 alt though since the gold hawk on the back of his jacket in that art is still great.
In terms of DLC I only expect it to be used for characters sakurai didnt have the time to finish yet and some balancing improvements, especially when it gets to WiiU's release.
Honestly with almost every other fighting game getting DLC and with the crazy turn out Nintendo events get when their is a possibility for new Smash characters, I would honestly be shocked if DLC doesn't happen. It's almost like free money, plus the team working on the 3DS version aren't ALL going to move onto play testing/debugging the WiiU version.

I dont think they will, maybe 2 at most but they would want as many newcomers as possible for smash 5, sakurai has already stated that there isnt that many new IPs thats viable for smash anymore, I think nintendo will take the time to build up some newcomers for him starting with the eshop games and now splatoon
People like the classic reimaginings of characters in Smash Bros., he's a samurai so he would have a different style of swordplay than the fencers and sword and shield users.
Plus it's a mascot fighter so naturally everyone wants their own personal favorites.
On the flip side, the worst feeling in the world is when you are literally one character inclusion away from jackpot, as in never caring about another Smash roster again so long as these guys are tenured, your shot has enough going for them that they should be in consideration, and being within the last bunch of character reveals.
Yeah, I have the same feeling, but with Shulk. Xenoblade's one of my favorite games ever now, and I always really wanted Shulk in the game. I'm sure he'll be awesome to play as too (giant lightsaber sword with all sorts of crazy cool powers). At least he still has a pretty good chance, and if he's not in, at least I still got Pikachu, Lucina, Ike, Robin and Greninja, but every day he's not confirmed, I get more and more pessimistic lol
1- Melee brought back Ice Climbers as a retro character, Brawl brought back Pit as a retro character, people are hoping Smash 4 does something similar and brings back another retro character.
2- Sakurai previously made a mention about wanting to bring back a retro character for this game, http://www.officialnintendomagazine...-characters-back-to-smash-bros-wii-u-and-3ds/
And so far none of the newcomers you'd really classify as such. Pac Man is still around (yes Ghostly Adventures counts, no we're not going to talk about it), Mega Man was killed around the same time Sakurai would have been asking for permission to use him, Little Mac had already been revived in Punch Out Wii, everyone else is new.
3-Takamaru's series almost out of nowhere returned in Nintendo Land lead to a lot of western gamers first being exposed to his franchise
yes it was probably that they already had the shuriken throwing tech demo and just picked Takamaru as the closest thing to a franchise that it'd make sense for
4- Takamaru's game has gotten a lot of teases towards an international release
5- He just has a cool design and would be pretty unique
Honestly from the very beginning I was expecting a Takamaru trailer to coincide with a "we're releasing his game on the VC today for WiiU and 3DS so please check it out and be ready to play as him when Smash Bros launches"

Seriously I have my:
Fencer: Marf
Archer/Knife User: Pit
Red Mage: Robin
Black Mage: Palutena
Ninja: Greninja
Samurai:________
Would just need Anna to never, ever, ever need another newcomer ever, but four FE reps was already pushing it way hard. Hard to make myself believe that a fifth is possible and if it'd be Anna at all. Sigh.
I agree with so much of what you've said. Plus your roster is identical to mine except for K. Rool.
Except I think, if there are secret newcomers, they'll still have videos, but they'll be viewed when the character is unlocked. I'm pretty sure Sakurai would straight up withold that fact to preserve the suprise of unlocking them. But on the other hand, I think he may just reveal the rest of the newcomers before launch.

"Settle?" Given Paper Mario's chances right now, even an AT is more than we can reasonably expect lol. Hell, an alt would surprise me. We'll probably only get a regular trophy.
Let me tell you, man. When you're on this side of having the veterans you want (Ike and Captain Falcon) and the newcomers you want (Palutena, Little Mac), the deal with it shades just slide on and you tune out the complaints. Lucina got in over Chrom? No Shulk? Ridley too big? I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of me already getting everything I wanted.
I believe PoliGAF calls this "fuck you, got mine". It's definitely a very nice feeling to have all you want, but at the same time, having at least a little empathy for those who don't goes a long way; having none at all just comes across as callous.

While I could see DLC for characters/franchises that became popular/relevant after Smash 4 was too far in development to include them like Splatoon or Codename S.T.E.A.M. I will agree that I think there is a possibility that they may want to save those for Smash 5.
I could see DLC for characters like Impa, Chrom, or Blaziken, characters with some level of popularity that kind of fall between the cracks for a major roster but would perfectly fall into a niche of characters people would want to spend money on. While they could do DLC for cut vets like possibly Lucas I don't think that's anywhere near exciting or going to push sales the way a true newcomer would.
- I'm stupid and get attached to old properties of Nintendo
Shoutouts to StarTropics; Mike I still gotcha
. His inclusion in the Smash 4 roster would create some cool thematic ties in the form of:
-- Takamaru vs. Little Mac - East v West, also the success stories from Captain Rainbow wherein both wanted to get over some character flaw and become popular Nintendo faces again
-- Takamaru vs Greninja & Sheik: Takamaru canonically fights ninja foot soldiers on his quest
-- and Takamaru v Link v Pit v Samus: The Famicom Four, aka the heroes of the big Nintendo releases of 1986 (The Legend of Zelda & Metroid) and their direct offshoots/sister series (The Mysterious Murasame Castle & Kid Icarus) would all be present and accounted for.
- Smash only ever seems to highlight sword users who fit either the knight or European fencer style of swordsmanship. (Other characters get bladed weapons to compensate for another bigger aspect of their design). Meanwhile, sword draw/iaido/battojutsu is a very visually distinct and cool as fuck style of sword combat that continues to go ignored (RIP in peace Lyn).
- Takamaru also comes with an assortment of funky support items and projectiles to play long range with. (Fireballs of varying size and effect, throwing knifes, garb that turns him invisible/intangible, and as per NintendoLand throwing stars)
Would just need Anna to never, ever, ever need another newcomer ever, but four FE reps was already pushing it way hard. Hard to make myself believe that a fifth is possible and if it'd be Anna at all. Sigh.
minus Ridley, K. Rool, Snake and Takamaru would be more safe to go with. We are not even sure that they would be in the game. Sorry for being negative nancy because I don't want to get my hope high.
With Smash Amiibos being a thing I feel like DLC is going to happen, after all it's kind of a double win for Nintendo.
Popular characters who weren't in Smash Bros get made/released later as DLC -> people buy that -> release an amiibo for that character -> people go out and buy it.
And heck if unlocking DLC is tied to purchasing Amiibos that creates further reason for people to buy the things, helps to promote long term sales of Amiibos and people to buy more then just the 1 or 2 for their favorite character.
I imagine that since our old leak was arguably debunked, other leaks have been popping up. Do you guys know of any of the more interesting ones? I like keeping tabs on these things.

There's nothing wrong with being happy that you got someone you like, and a bit of ribbing is totally fine too, but when people harp on endlessly about it, and take any opportunity to lord it over others that didn't get something they want, that's pretty lame.
I'm disappointed about Chrom, but I don't feel the need to put down Lucina fans. Overall I think the roster is great, like really, really great. Sakurai has been hitting it out of the park, but even a great roster will still have its disappointments, and I think people need to remember what it's like to not get something you'd looked forward to for a long time.
