How did people that prefer 30fps ever get through the SNES era?
They bided their time till the N64 era for the glorious sub-30 fps.

How did people that prefer 30fps ever get through the SNES era?
I'm actually shocked people would prefer a solid 30 FPS over a solid 60 FPS (*if* this does turn out to be a pretty solid 60 FPS game), but eh whatever.
Random person: 'I prefer listening to vinyl rather than CD or FLAC!' GAF: 'You're a CUNT and you should fucking DIE.'
Done with this shit thread.
I agree. Fun is just better a 60fps though. Haha.Medium should be aiming at being fun, entertaining and engaging. Technical performance is incidental.
I did in Dark Souls for PC, but that was mostly for gameplay reasons since the 60 FPS mode messed with running speed/jump distance and could make you fall through the world to your death if you tried to slide down a ladder.![]()
Bruce: I had a dream in 60fps last night.
Neil: What if I told you that was no dream? #believe
That's because the framerate jumps around. A stable 60 fps is very smooth.
That's not really the same thing - I'm pretty sure the assumption of it working as expected is also in there.
Well some people will say he didn't mention the word "locked", and maybe "all the way" means it's only 60 on roads and not in the woods...
How did you get thought N64 era? One of my personal best game ever ran at 20fps in this era.How did people that prefer 30fps ever get through the SNES era?
It's all gorgeous, and Monacelli told Polygon that Naughty Dog plans to add a photo mode like the one in Infamous: Second Son with a launch-day patch, so players can share shots of beautiful vistas. (Even outside of the photo mode, the PS4 version allows players to turn off the HUD, so they can capture pristine screenshots with the DualShock 4's Share button.)
I can enjoy games at almost any playable framerate (N64/PS1 games were remarkably poor, but absolutely playable), but higher framerates are objectively better than lower ones. How did you get thought N64 era? One of my personal best game ever ran at 20fps in this era.
if its not locked, its not locked.

Woah, you answered your own question!I can enjoy games at almost any playable framerate (N64/PS1 games were remarkably poor, but absolutely playable), but higher framerates are objectively better than lower ones.
20 years ago almost every single game played at 60Hz, now we have a generation of gamers that prefer 30fps and "60fps looks weird to them". We're going backwards.

No wonder Naughty Dogs haven't shared gameplay it's unlocked, this is a farce, the game is broken and they've been hiding it all in plain sight the whole time. This is why people shouldn't pre-order games, you're supporting these type of heinous lies. Can't even lock 60fps on the PS4, figures. Also confirms this will be a stealth multi-platform release, just like the Diablo fiasco.
wth sony.
Does anyone else remember pre-hype threads where we would talk about the game itself?

the digital foundry thread for this is gonna be brutal...

Ok, excuse my ignorance here as I know jack shit of how video playback and framerates actually work. We know that Naughty Dog uses pre-rendered videos for their cinematics (So far). If the cinematics for the remaster are rendered in 60fps, how will the console play them in 30fps? Is that possible when the source video is 60fps?

I wonder. I feel like this game will average mid-upper 50s in the framerate department. I'm curious to see how many people see that and declare "ha! not 60fps!" As if most non-fighting/racing games that are '60fps' on consoles are locked.the digital foundry thread for this is gonna be brutal...

Here we are folks! End of discussion ... no?
It's the same game with better graphics and framerate, did they put in additional content I don't know about?
They can either record a version of video in 30fps or fast transcode in real time to remove 1 in each 2 frames... it is really really fast do that with no performance impact.Ok, excuse my ignorance here as I know jack shit of how video playback and framerates actually work. Lol. I guess it's fine then. It's shocking that some gamers would prefer a lower frame rate but to each his own.
Lord almighty who art in heaven. Yes yes yes.Based Naughty Dog

Maybe both are available? I doubt they'd have enough disc space though

dont act like 60fps games never existed. Please tell me about the "locked" 60fps games you have been playing as of late.
