I can't find better shot(like the zoomed out temple when you're near the entrance), but this is how GOW2 looked like :

I mean it's one of the best if not the best looking game on PS2, but compared to GOW3, I don't see any "whoaable" jump beside the lighting. Model and textures also improved a lot obviously, but I don't see much difference unless it's up close like this.

Yea, and you have to buy a PS4 to get this 'remastered' version of TLOU.

My point is that you don't have to rebuy the software to get the benefits of your new and improved hardware on PC. You buy a new graphics card and you don't have to rebuy a game to be able to play it with higher settings/resolution/framerate/whatever. And this works with pretty much every game, not just select ones.

I don't want to turn this into a PC vs console thing, but I think its fair to correct misleading representations of either, which you and the other person are guilty of.

So its a misleading representation to state that if I want to play newer games on PC that my 7790 didn't cut it so I had to upgrade it? I play my PC more than any console I own largely in part to Smite and FFXIV but the only misleading thing is stating you can get better performance without upgrading which is in fact a lie. I like to play in 1660 or higher with everything maxed out in order to do that I had to upgrade my Processor and GPU that is just a fact. They are the same games I purchased but upgrading the graphical fidelity costs a pretty penny.

The art direction is the same (locked camera and epic shit happening in the background), but come on, lol. There's a huge generation leap between these games. Just compare GoW Collection to GoW3.

Is there a 720p/no-AA toggle too?

Heh, I don't mind people who prefer playing at 30, but saying it's the original experience is kinda bs.

Even if we ignore the IQ and focus only on framerate, it would need a dynamic framerate technology to deliver dat 18fps beauty.

EDIT: He does say "as close as possible" though, so there's that.

If I buy bioshock on ps3 I have to buy bioshock on pc to take advantage of the improved hardware.

It's the same thing.

OT, these look pretty incredible. If I wasn't so swamped with actual important shit I'd be getting this day 1

Looks really good, I'd still like video of early gameplay though.

The 30 fps switch will hopefully be able to show people the difference between 60 and 30 fps.

You guys are intolerable. What are you implying that Evan Wells and Druckmann are lying? That the 30fps lock option is there because the 60fps fluctuates so wildly that people wouldn't be able to play the game?

How in the world did my post bring you to that conclusion? Was I a missquote?

I was specifically addressing the 'plus' part of it. It wasn't the only thing he said, but that part of it was misleading/inaccurate. A game doesn't automatically look worse than another game because it has a slightly lower resolution.

No, but that's unequivocally one of the negatives about it comparatively.

It wasn't that bad.

Actually it did get there, I'm not taking numbers out of my ass.

Of course it wasn't that bad most of the time, but it was pretty bad. Even before I knew it was aiming at 60, just locked 30 would already be a considerable improvement.

The obsession with sharpness becomes more and more disturbing. I think it mostly highlights the problems with geometry (like hair).

I love TLOU and think It's a fantastic looking game but other then resolution and iq which is by default what you'd expect from a HD edition, I'm kinda disappointed because this is a full priced Remaster as its labelled and theres not much I can see thats Remastered.
Those shots could easily be the same press release bullshots for the PS3 version and it may look Iike the PS3's bullshots on PS4 but this maybe the most bare bones Remaster I've seen (don't jump on me it's just my current opinion )and we've had better HD Collections.
Now my opinion may change as I'm double dipping and I'll see the work They've done for myself, but going off what I've seen my statement holds true.

DUDE! It was one of the biggest jumps that I could see between the PS2 and PS3 generations.

KZ:SF 4k confirmed

Uhhh no? Where did you get that? I said I don't see any "whoaable" jump beside lighting(because the art direction), model and textures improve a lot obviously but I don't see much because it's mostly zoomed out when you play.

*raises flame shield*

Aw ic ic,

don't worry I don't bite ;)

no cause for flame shields

Hint: right click the image to see its actual resolution.

KZSF does not look like that, unless it is rendered at 4K with 8XSGSSAA?

I think people are judging the game based on how it looks from their couch as opposed to in still screenshots where you can easily detect aliasing.

When they say "it looks that good" they're not talking about image quality so much as how it looks as a whole. They can't REALLY think that it actually has the same IQ as screenshots taken at 4K (or higher). At least I hope not. I mean at that point we're just asking devs and publishers to give us bullshots because we will delude ourselves into thinking the final game looks "that good" anyway.

That almost nonexistent aliasing...

THIS is the TLOU that I wanted, I'm still hoping for locked 60fps but I'll take 40-60 if it means being able to replay the game without all the horrendous jaggies.

That's more reassuring, but lol at the "purists" BS. Yeah nah, give them 720p with jaggies and 25 fps.

You're giving these people too much credit, just saying.

I think you'll find it'll be 60fps 99% of the time, if not 100% of the time.
