The shotguns ive came across seem underwhelming compared to the rifles is anyone having fun using them?

I am wondering the same thing. How can I tell which skills and such are the ones included up to LVL 15. The subclass system is the one thing that is still really confusing to me about this game.
That video tells me absolutely nothing about subclasses.
i had an amazing burst-fire shotgun in the alpha
basically the perfect defensive weapon for control matches

I did have luck with the scout rifle, so I'm hopeful; if you get straight head shots it still seems pretty evenly matched with an auto rifle, even at close-mid range.

I'm pretty sure any loot you didn't pick up appears back at the tower. It seemed to work that way in the alpha anyway.

I love the speeder bike "woo" sound the sparrow's make.
Played all the levels last night as Titan, lvl 7 now. Did strike with 2 others but we died @ that robot you have to kill. 1 guy left, and the two of us got so close to killing it then we both died. I love the Titan death pound.

all of your specials powers and jumps are subclasses
the more you use and adventure, they'll also rank up too.
Go to bungie.net and have a look at your character then click your ability
that'll then bring up your sub classes and how much exp is in them
apparently someone that works for bungie. but i played alpha and the level cap was 8. same here, i think he didn't understand what we are referring to as "level cap" seeing as the other user he replied to also said what i'm saying, that the level cap was the same. it's probably miscommunication.
and of course we are referring to things as they stand "now". I'm fully aware that things can change for the beta.

Am I the only one who can't figure out how to party up? I set myself to public, but does it not auto-match me for events/missions?
And I hope we get some visual customization separate from armors, at least in the Tower. Like WoW's cosmetics vs. actual armor.
One thing I do like is the quicker load times and the narrator voice seems better in parts.

Thanks for the reply. I pretty much understand all of that too. What I would like more detail on is how they earn XP and how to tell which skills belong to which LVL. This all just seems a bit vague to me. Hopefully this is more fleshed out in the final release.

I am. I like giving enemies the quick 1-2, a shotgun blast followed by a magic palm to the face. It's especially awesome when i jump off my sparrow land right next to an enemy and shotgun him in one swift movement.
I love shotguns, no different here. I'm a Hunter and I like double jumping over things and one shotting enemies mid-air.
Really? no perks or extra things awarded by them? can you even exchange them or something? they might be as useless as the ones on steam then.
maybe they're have a lot of spoiler content?
Personally I can't wait for when I'm not playing reading the game.

Will just have to employ of mix of both. Get way more 40 dmg critical hits on aim-down-sights than hipfire. Sliding + shooting isn't as effective, either.

Kinda lame that the level cap is the same as in Alpha.
A weapon dropped for me that required level 15. What's the point of having those in the game? Anyone else getting out of reach items?
I don't have the fastest internet but I DL everything on Xbox faster.
At least the console was up to date (borrowed it from a friend).
Does race affect the dialogue or anything in the game?
yes, you often pick up gear that you cannot equip due to the level cap.

Seems they nerfed them since Alpha where they were significantly overpowered.

Only got to play my Hunter from the start up till nearly lvl 4 last night but I'm already having a better experience than the alpha, and I loved the alpha. This is largely in part to having your character start from the very beginning as the story missions give me more context for my being, and make the overall experience a lot more seamless in my opinion.
I've promised myself that I will actually put some time into PvP this go around once I hit the cap, so I'm looking forward to that, as well as cap out the other two classes since I only played Hunter last time too.
The companion app is slick and I enjoy being able to pore over my grimoire cards easily with it; haven't come across any redacted ones yet but I'm sure there'll be a ton.

i've been able to stay near the top of every crucible match i've played using a scout rifle (trax callum). quite often i've gotten in 1 on 1 shootouts and come out on top. headshots are key, but they don't seem to be extremely difficult

For clarity: you can't sell any loot right? You can only dismantle it to get glimmer?
Fusion/scout rifle combo in this game is great.
My experience with shotguns has been terrible (way too much kickback compared to other guns, and not enough power to them) Fusion rifles are so much better than them.
I am liking the game so far, just wondering if I should get the PS4 over this game or not... I am currently playing on the PS3 beta, played the PS4 beta at my friends place and all that was different were the graphics and I swear the PS4 had more slowdowns than the PS3 does.

Always go machine gun.
I find the shotgun to still be pretty boss. Just gotta get really close and aim for the head. About 8 yellow numbers pop up for big damage and a satisfying feeling. I can make better use of them now as a titan than as a warlock in alpha. Still not sure which class I like more though.
