Can't believe that Drew has hung up flags bearing his face all over the GB offices and is claiming it's all his now. Brad's going to quit when he gets back and sees what's going on. Everyone is having to stand up 24/7.

I heard Drew has begun bossing Jeff around. Is this the end of Giant Bomb?! :( :( :(

edit: Powerbombcast on the Coming Up schedule, in approx 9 hours.

I wonder who's gonna be Dan's best friend? He and Jeff have alot in common. And Jason has known him longer, but Dan and Drew seems like a good pair kinda like an opposites thing.

Jeff is a good boss and all but he does not posses the iron fist of the Scanlons.

Seriously, we need Dan/Brad/Jeff/Rorie Gang Beastsssss

I would like some dual quicklooks of Co-op games.

Jeff/Dan and Vinny/Alex play Destiny together or something, and they both record it and upload it, so we can see the experience from both perspectives.

The worst part about the beta is that they removed the "wizard came from the moon" line. Unacceptable.

I know, the moons right there as well. They wont let me go destroy the wizards colony. There's not context for the comment so it makes it seem so silly, let me go to the moon and it will all make sense dammit.

Never really understood the hype for Destiny, maybe this'll change me mind or enlighten me.

I'm playing it, and am not bowled over. It's a good game, but not there with people saying it's already a GoTY (story is really dull, gameplay is quite standard, AI is disappointing, classes don't complement each other like Borderlands co-op).

Did you play the Alpha or Beta? It was low on my list of 2014 games, but after playing them, I now feel I am going to be there Day One.

Don't own a console right now, but I'm looking for a reason to buy one. I watched a bunch of Gameplay footage and it looks...alright. Good. But nothing really special. It kinda looks like a Borderlands MMO to me. Maybe I wouldn't say that if I played the Alpha/Beta but watching it doesn't really make me want to buy a console for it.

Also, are Alphas and Betas just a marketing term for "Demo but if you don'l like something that might still change" nowadays?

I think Bungie is just stressing their servers, supposedly they wanted one million beta players from what I've read. Obviously getting feedback about different classes and weapons is nice too.

Feel like there isn't a FPS Rpg that really plays around with class synergy yet.
Destiny classes are 90% shooting a gun like everyone else and 8% throwing a grenade that does a different thing and 2% using a super that actually differentiates you from other classes.

So far it seems like

"Here's some pretty boring opening level maps and missions, it's pretty fun but you know shit's bout to get hectic"

I ran into some old boat and kept going deeper underground till a bunch of enemies showed up that didn't register any levels or take any damage when I shot them, was a good "I'm out" moment as I ran back up the stairs and got on my hover bike.

It's a promising game but definitely needs some work on the mission match making, can be in an area with 4 or 5 other dudes and all be running around doing their own thing... no fun in that.

Destiny is giving me a reason to play my PS4. It's probably hype I'm buying into more than I would be if it was slammed with other PS4 content, but, it is pretty fun. I have the LE preordered.

First time I have seen extended footage of Destiny.

IDK what I was expecting of it, but it's not doing much for me.

After Borderlands, I'm not really sure I want anymore FPS MMO combination games.

Are there at least any kinda crazy powers that make it feel less like a standard FPS? I can't really judge with Jeff playing since he is the most boring human being ever when it comes to FPS's.

The 1 skill / 1 grenade that make you different from other classes are on long cooldowns, so you'll mostly just be shooting like in Borderlands.

Seems like most the class differences merely statistical with a couple upgrades for the super skill and a couple grenade choices.

Wouldn't really call Borderlands an MMO.

Not really, thinks like different jump types and jump upgrades make different classes more mobile. Likewise subclasses probably brings more variety, but that's not available in the beta.

I am usually not one to make a "you are playing it wrong" post, but Jeff refusing to use Super Charge for quite a while almost made me want to, so I did....

...then he finally used it, so I was happy.

You also get different jumps between all classes and different melee also.

Warlocks > Titans > Hunters

also this is awesome

Today, our outpost was anchored successfully in W-MPTH, and on behalf of Kite Co. Space Trucking, I would like to dedicate it to the memory of Ryan Davis. Ryan Davis was a member of the Giant Bomb staff until his tragic death last year, and he is missed by many— to say his loss was terrible would be a horrendous understatement. Although this memorial may not last forever, I hope that it will be just one more reminder of Ryan and how incredible of a person he was.

But the melee is still merely a melee with a different statistical effects for each class.

There's nothing really groundbreaking that differentiates the classes to where they'd have any sort of synergy like TF2 / TFC or what Evolve is trying to do.

The majority of the time between the two classes I played (Titan 8 / Warlock 6) it was 90% a vanilla FPS with the odd cooldown that kills a bunch of things coming up.

That's a shame I was hoping for a whole bunch of weird FPS style abilities ripped from Elder Scrolls/Shadowrun/Dishonored.

FPS's need more teleporting.

Warlock has an upgrade/sidegrade I haven't seen for his glide that supposedly does a minor teleport, though I can't imagine it being too much like a bona fide blink.

The hating on companion fiction/books for games in the Destiny quicklook was weird. It had a very "Durr, nerds read books!" feel to it.

Would have loved for Vinny to be in the control room for that one.

It's the classic "they should be made fun of because they care about it more than me" quip.

That is one area I dont really like about Giant Bomb. Some of them look down on some of the nerdier aspects of their fans interests quite a bit. I know its mostly dont in jest but it can still come across as cruel at times.

To be fair, the class stuff seems like it really differentiates later on based on skill trees.

I thought borderlands did it pretty well.

At least with the way I play it.

Yeah that's what it looked like to me. It seemed like the skill trees would really make them play differently and change how they approach combat situations. Granted i've not played the game so they may be less impactful than it looks at first glance.

But it really comes down to 4 differentiators which are all given to each class: the melee modifier, the grenade type, the super and the movement modifier.

Everyone still uses the same gun pool, and 90% (with reasonable cooldown reduction in later levels, most likely) of the time you are just using your gun / base melee with your combat differentiators being a occasionality rather than a crux, which is what I would like it to be.

I'd like to see a class that mostly threw spells, or a class that was predominantly melee and threw in a speciality for shotguns for good measure. Or something like a healer type that shot out healing fields instead of bullets. The balance of the game would have to be completely altered away from the way it is now though.

I'd disagree, especially when you look at the later parts of the skill tree where certain classes turn into tanks and buffers, not to mention how each of the three has 2 sub-classes. You're literally looking at the first five skills which are given to all characters so they can all solo the same content.
