The more I play this game the more I like it and I haven't really even dipped into exploring which I plan to do a lot of come release. Game is great.
 
Stats are, unless it's an Iron Banner match. I believe rarer weapons will have special attributes that still carry over.

You guys know how to get to that place in the first place that you have to get past two level 20 dregs? I'm so proud that I managed to kill one in 30 seconds. I need to get to share factory and upload a vid of it.

i killed one by ramming my bike into him as the other guy killed me, i was actually able to zoom around there for a while
 
Hey there Destiny player you just got a 4.57 KD and carried your sorry ass team to victory. Do you get a reward? Of course not! We'll give it to the guy with a 0.4 KD because that's how we like to do things.

I feel like Frank Grimes over here. I keep getting stuck on garbage teams and if we do ever win I get nothing. I'm having serious doubts about buying this game it's just ridiculous.

Dude! You missed the best part of PvP! Iron Banner was so good! I don't even want to play the "balanced" version after that. Keep that shit for competitive tournaments. Iron banner makes all the exploring, upgrading and legendary weapons worth it, because you get to use them as is.
 
So as far as pvp maps go, venus and earth are great. Really enjoy those overall. But the Moon map has serious balance issues with the vehicles versus the ability to gain any heavy ammo with any consistency to take them down. It also doesn't help that a vehicle can fit into every cap point on the map and just camp it. I've yet to play Mars which I'm hoping to do before the IB event ends again.
 
Whoa! Never knew it was possible to kill them. I double jumped my way past the first few dregs, then found a path along the rocks that took me straight in front of the shrieker. Had to use some stealth to avoid the knights, get into the the fallen ship and then the cave that leads from there. Inside the cave, there is a massive army of level 20 thrall as well as a wizard (or two?). Had no option but to run and double jump though the chaos. You eventually reach the Refinery and the King's watch nearby. Found a lot of empty real estate back there. Met Roboplato on the other end and we tried making our way back though the caves and the level 20 madness. Died a couple of times but we eventually made it. Also the shrieker opened up this time and started making all kinds of crazy noises. Had some sort of purple glowing ball inside it. Couldn't stand around for too long to take pictures!

My method is the one laid out below haha. It was pretty accidental. I was shot off my bike but the bike rammed into him and insta-death haha.

I remember all those things from the alpha but damn shit got more packed in the beta. Barely made it past the shrieker. Now that was scary.

does it take forever to get Iron Banner Rep? i played like 5 matches and only have 25 points

Soooo how do you get level 1 iron banner?

One I.B. bounty should take you to level 1. The 20 melee kills or the 5 multi-kill are probably the easiest if you're playing as a random. On a [decent] team, the others become a bit more viable except having the highest score in the match (from both teams).

But, One effect of loot systems in PVP is that even when it doesn't affect anything, people will still blame their gear before their skill. Maybe it's better to divert frustration, or maybe its worse because it allows people this false belief in their ability. I'm not really sure!

if you're referring to the ones I posted above, I upload my screenshots to USB, then copy to my laptop. From there I can post them on imgur (although imgur does compress the images).
Oh... I take my screen shot, post it to Facebook, save the photo on there and then use imgr on my phone
 
You only get Iron Banner rep if your team wins...25 points for a win...0 for losing

This is something I hope they adjust somewhat in the final game to give the losing team a small amount, like maybe 5 points. They're going to have problems with people who don't want to do PvP or are terrible at it but want potentially meaningful PvE gear that is tied to doing it. Unless in the final game you can do PvE missions for them or something to get rep.

I will always blame my skill (or lack of it)...lol
 
Dunno... I feel the highest score thing is the easiest. Just bounce around a few lobbies and you'll find one that you can absolutely destroy.

Depends on what your situation is. If you're going the random route and are still getting a grasp of things, 20 melee kills/5 multi-kills are a better bet. The chances of being without a decent fire team and being able to be the top scorer of all the players in the match is pretty slim.

If you have a good team behind you though, yes, that would be the quickest.

It is a team game mode and you helped you team win. Thus bettering your chance of getting good loot. So you as a skilled player not only effects your chance of getting good gear, but your teammates as well.

A loot system like the way it is much more balanced for the community in the long run too and will keep more of the community engaged.

Haha! Nice! I'd probably try that next time.

Also, entering the cave was quite scary. Kept hearing all kinds of creepy noises. And the fact that everything in there could kill you easily made it all the more terrifying
 
Man...

This game...

Bungie REALLY nailed the core gameplay loop. Then again, shouldn't be surprised since, well, it's Bungie. Fighting against the tank in particular, really felt like some awesome future space battle :)

Also, I'm loving all the different voice actors they got to sit in. I think I recently heard James Remar!

Explore meaning the bounties?

I've noticed lag sometimes especially when I'm sniping.

explore mode has missions just laying around all over the place. assassinations offer money, bonuses, sometimes equipment, etc.

also there's loot boxes everywhere.

the lag is TERRIBLE sometimes though. hit markers don't mean shit.

has anyone found unlockable shaders yet? I remember there being 1 in the alpha but im not sure if there are any in beta

I've seen others mention that the Shader that was there in the Alpha isn't buyable in this Beta. I never bought it in the Alpha so I can only go by what others have said.
 
Buddy and I go 9.5 and 3.5 respectively, carried our team. We both get whites, 5th placer gets purple handcannon. *Sigh*

That's dumb. The guy didn't even contribute to the win. He didn't deserve the prize. It should be random for only the top 3 people on the team.

Rusted Lands | Earth: The most balanced and well-rounded map in the game so far. Haven't noticed any apparent game issues and it plays well with randoms and teams.
First Light | Moon: The main issue with this map is the vehicle balance. It's still quite enjoyable with even teams, so if they get the vehicles right, it'll make me groan a lot less when it shows up in Iron Banner.
Shores of Time | Venus: Very beautiful and rewarding map both for the individual player and the coordinated team. My only problems here are the spawns and the clutter in some places. I think there are too many line of site obstructions in the lower portion of the map.
Blind Watch | Mars: Oh boy, where to begin. For one, the spawns are really one-sided. B and C are too close and the team that spawns there usually wins. They have the best sight lines to guard both zones too while A spawns all the way on the other side of the map and has to go through doors or line of sight of snipers to do anything. At least it's easy for A to wipe out the other team with a few well place grenades into C at the beginning, but I'm the only one that ever uses this tactic.

And it's not like the MVP has to always get the best loot. I can understand the 'balance' issues there. But for no one but the baggage to get the best, if not the only, content is ridiculous.

Coming from the guy who was [thankfully unrewarded] baggage his first few rounds

Hmm, I obviously say this as someone who's always in the bottom half, but that's kinda harsh as well.

I would say far higher chances for top 3 to get, but anytime a bottom half gets one, one of the top 3 gets it 100% as well. Reverse doesn't apply.
 
Then it would not feel special to get something. Developers these days can pin point the sweet spot in the reward schedule to keep players engaged and make the rewards feel special and rare.
But the rewards should feel like they need to be earned as well. There's no incentive to try if I won my team the last 10 games, and didn't receive anything in return. If you honestly believe what you're saying, there's no way I can convince you otherwise, but it just doesn't make sense to me and a lot of people in this thread.
