That's a thought. It's a rough guesstimate but it's there. 40 missions does sound like a lot, but a lot of the ones in the beta were pretty short. I could see them getting lengthier further in though.

Did you guys replay them on harder difficulties as well? It's not just higher level enemies but more of them as well. That really appealed to me.

If they could create level 20 versions of all their story missions... man, I'd be set.

I really don't mind if the story isn't a 50hr grind. I just hope there's enough things to do besides the story, and it seems like there will be.

I can see what you mean, it's not like the story itself seems all that appealing so far anyway. Also, now that I think about it you can also extraporlate that there's probably going to be 8 different areas from that. There's 5 story missions covering the beta map of Old Russia, many more than that and it'd get cluttered. They probably will have about 5 per overall area. So there will probably be planets with only one overall location to explore. Wouldn't be surprising.

I never did any missions on normal. Thought never crossed my mind. Wouldn't be surprised if they have a legendary setting outside the beta for what you're asking for.

That's true, but the problem with the current game mode is it pretends to be objective based, when really it's team deathmatch. Even the scoreboard doesn't reflect player's commitment to flag capture - only their K/D ratio.

I don't think it's pretending to be objective based. In function, the control points act only as a points multiplier. Holding them and doing nothing does nothing in passing for your score. Maybe it could've been explained better, but it's more similar to a deathmatch gametype than a domination or conquest.

Yeah, that's what was going through my mind. Bungie always took care in making their different difficulty levels stand out in Halo. Combine that with the habit of a lot of MMOs to introduce heroic or hard modes of dungeons lends itself to a big opportunity for single-player content replayability.

I dont think the tell is an issue, its the fact that the fist and nova have more or less zero activation time and next to no aiming, unlike the gun which has both. If it was the tell then they could just stick an icon overlay on people in PvP who have a full super bar. Adding an activation period to powers that dont have one is a nerf ;) Again if its only an issue for PvP then the solution should address that, too many games have fallen into the trap of trying to balance PvP and PvE simultaneously and cocking both up

Eh, I don't think the activation period is a nerf. A nerf to me is making the nova bomb radius smaller or reducing the lunge of the fist of havok. The activation period lets people in the vicinity know that somebody is about to blow shit up. This means the Titan or Warlock will also have to plan ahead.

Nothing else should be changed, otherwise the GG will overpower them and that will end up being nerfed too.

This is just my opinion though and it's probably not going to happen since the full game is a month away. It's one of my biggest issues with PvP right now though, along with the lag and Auto Rifles.

Ahhh, that's my bad then. I assumed it was like Domination/Conquest where holding the flags earned you points.

Seeing dudes way at the bottom get legend ships and hand cannons after you just put in work fucking hurts.

Hehe. Got this for a round where I managed 7 kills! :P

The activation period makes it less effective, its defintionally a nerf ;) I should be clear though, I dont mind if they nerf it, once its for PvP only. All of the abilities are equally potent and fun in PvE and it would irriate me, not to a huge degree admittedly, to see a possible PvP rebalance affect PvE, as much for the precedent it sets as anything else.

It's nothing special that's for sure. But it isn't bad, at least not to me.

The narrative as presented is relatively average, Im interested in seeing what happens but not compelled. On the other hand the story in terms of the world presented seems pretty interesting.

How do I dance in Remote Play?

For PS4 it's right on the D-pad. Does the Vita D-pad do emotes too?

Ahhh, that's my bad then. I assumed it was like Domination/Conquest where holding the flags earned you points.

You get a score bonus for every point you hold when you kill someone. The round ends when a team reaches 20k points. You get way more points when you hold 2-3 points and get a lot of kills. Simply holding the point gives you nothing, as was stated.

Welp I'm done with the Beta till Wednesday. Put around 26 hours in, feels like I've been playing non-stop. Still haven't touched Warlock or Hunter yet.

This randomized loot shit needs to stop for crucibles imho. If I'm one of the best of my team and we win, and fucking one of the lowest scoring guys gets the cool purple shit while I get diddly squat then what the hell am I even trying for lol.

After playing for a few hours, I have to say I'm really surprise how much I like this game. The art direction is amazing. Always been a fan of Bungie when it comes to design, but they took it to another level with this title right here. Also, it looks like I might get this on the X1 instead of the PS4. Every time I had to run during an intense battle, is was not comfy at all for me pushing down that analog stick on the DS4 for a long period, unlike the X360 or X1 pad. Will see how I'll feel when I get to play it on the X1.

It would make sense to make it so, that the best player has the highest chance of getting good loot.

EDIT: Became a full member. woohoo.

Looking at the medals for PvP I haven't gotten yet....

"Get it Off!" - Kill an enemy by sticking them with a grenade. Yay, Halo.

"I See You" - Kill an invisible enemy. Grrr, yay, cloaks incoming :(.

"Angel of Light" - In a single life, revive 5 downed allies. Eh?

"Lone Wolf" - In a team game, finish first on your team with zero Assists. I actually got one of these and am not proud.

"Never Speak of this Again" - Run over an enemy with the Sparrow. I haven't gotten this :(.

I have the same one, except it has a different skill on it, not Reactive Reload. It's killer in the Crucible.

What's the best way to get something like that? My scout rifle is garbage, been looking for a good one with no luck...

I guess it's all random, I just don't know how to best use my time trying to get something like that -- just buy it from the tower? Or try and scour old russia?

There's seriously invisibility in this game? Ugh, why do developers keep putting this shit in their games? Invisibility and seeing through walls are some of the most hated abilities in competitive games but developers seem content to keep forcing them in.

I have to agree with this. If the top guys are working their ass off to get kills/captures etc., loot percentage for them should be significantly higher than the lowest person.

Bungie hopefully will fix this formula for full release.

There's similar problems with PVE. A lot of green engrams end up being white items. I had a blue helmet engram drop that ended up being a crafting item. Makes you feel cheated.

PVP needs to reward the top performing players, and green and blue PVE items need to be green and blue items. Don't give us the joy of seeing a green/blue drop, only for it to end up being another white item we instantly dismantle.

Supers are the main reason I hate the PVP in this game. CoD-like map and game play design is bad enough, but one hit instant kills that can't be dodged for two classes, and the Hunter class having a charge time plus aim requirements? That's boring for Titans (my class) and Warlocks, and unfair for Hunters.

Seriously think they should ban Supers from PVP, stop awarding points for kills so players start playing for objectives rather than camping map edges, and replace the K/D scoreboard with an actual scoreboard that shows which guardians were winning the game instead of kill-farming.

Yeah, I agree for the most part, the only exception being removing the Supers.

Warlock and Titan have great AoE Supers while Golden Gun sucks monster balls. You practically can't miss with Fist of Havoc or Nova Bomb, but Golden Gun is something you can easily waste and get much less kills than with FoH or Nova.

Hunter should also get some sort of AoE Super. Perhaps changing Golden Gun to Golden Bazooka would do the trick?

Also, what's up with Bungie having to take down beta for 2 freakin' days? Damn you Xbox owners, you are ruining my fun!

For fun? To win? You get a lot more IB marks if you win I believe. In fact you can get more items that are actually usable if you rank up in rep (new emblem and banner). Not like any of this matters anyway unless this stuff is confirmed to transfer over to the full game, which even then you'll have more chances there.

I think randomized loot is fine if they make the items also acquirable for higher rank rewards in IB.

It is random. I got mine from an enemy drop. You can try running the Strike mission over and over. I also like to do the Level 5 story mission (the one where you have to activate the array) on Heroic (which adds more enemies and makes them aggressive). I can solo it fairly quickly and there's a lot of enemies that spawn in. And the Skywatch, where you have to pick up 3 dead Ghosts, have infinite spawning enemies. You can go there in explore mode and camp out for a while. If you're lucky you might get it, or you can hope the gunsmith might feel generous.

You can see a distortion where a cloaked enemy is standing. It's not impossible to see them.

I have some questions and have no idea if they've been answered already or what, but..

- Will any of these items we collect in the beta follow us into the retail version of the game
- Will Grimoire cards/score stick or is that reset
- Do different classes have different Grimoire cards? (I haven't tried other classes yet)

Sorry for coming in here and being a total n00b

I saw a guy with that, was wondering where the hell it came from. Looks a lot cooler from the back than the front. Of course, other people will see it from the back, so that works out.

Roboplato had one glance at it and thought it looks like NES R.O.B. I agree!

It looks hilarious next to all the skinny ships on the loading screen. Everyone that entered my team was like "What the fuck is that?!" :D

Wish I could keep it past the beta!

I want to use these things for more than loading screens. So cool.

Fingers crossed. Believe!

So looking at these weapon stats, what are peoples preferred load outs?

My hunter usually packs a scout or pulse rifle for PvE, usually a nice sniper and my heavy is a machine gun,

But for crucible work a scout or pulse just doesn't cut it (fire rate is way too low compared to an auto rifle)

But the sniper and the heavy are still fine for this...

No points should be given for kills on control

Save that for the deathmatch modes

And I love the golden gun super, it's satisfying as hell to get some kills with it. They really need to even the scales by dropping invincibility from warlocks and titans tho

Randomizing the loot is fine, to an extent. If a player is last on a winning team, presumably he did something to help your effort. Acknowledging that, a last-place player is perfectly legitimate in getting loot. It just shouldn't be purple loot. A green piece maybe. The best loot should be reserved for the say, top three player in a round.

Why? It's a TDM+Domination combo style mode. If you don't like it, you don't necessarily have to play it in the game. If you remove kill points, it's simple COD Domination. Which is exactly what it's NOT supposed to be.

It's nothing special that's for sure. But it isn't bad, at least not to me.

I wouldn't call what we've seen bad either, but the draw of the game is gameplay, specifically co-op and/or PvP gameplay with those Bungie touches. The music and world art is really classy sci-fi, but the presentation of the story is also very Bungie, which, to me, hasn't ever been all that interesting. For example, when you're in explore, everything feels very deliberately set-up for the gameplay experience. That's fine at a mechanic level, but Old Russia, thus far, hasn't come off like an organic, atmospheric place. That's why solo exploration hasn't appealed to me unless I had a clear goal.

This is something I felt through most of the Halo years as well. I think Bungie's most effective example of story + environment in harmony is ODST. Traversing the constantly dark and wet New Mombasa hub piecing the story together with the somber jazzy music......good stuff.

As for Destiny, we'll see. They already have my money though.

Control is a deathmatch mode.

Controlling the points gives you a score bonus for your kills. Holding the points doesn't automatically give you points over time (besides kills/assists, you only get points when you neutralize and capture). Control is not the same mode as CoD Domination.

I don't think players can be invisible yet. Hopefully it works like the stealth vandals, but I dunno.

Yeah, I was referring to the stealth vandals in my post. Should have clarified.

Eh, I'd only go so far as to say the top player should be guaranteed a random drop. There are people that rarely get top of the board for one reason or another, they should at least be able to get their loot. Hell, I figure there will be more than a few people who will play for the loot and stop pvp altogether once they get what they want.

The Hunter's Bladedancer subclass has optional cloaking in its abilities. It's something they can pull out in certain conditions, like when using their super. And even then, there are other options besides the cloaking to choose from.

Dunno if it'll behave the same way in PvP as it does in PvE. Stealthed enemies in PvE are somewhat visible due to a warping effect.

That to me gets into the dangerous area of "the rich getting richer" problems that crop in multiplayers. That why I still think the best loot should be reserved for the top slots, but getting that best loot (or any loot) should be randomized.

I kind of wish the radar didn't exist in PvP. Since it's there I feel obligated to check it as I know other people are too, but it takes my eyes and mind off the actual gameplay and I don't like that. And beyond that the positioning of it is just awkward to me. I'd like to be able to move it out of the upper left corner where it feels like my eyes have to travel across the whole screen to glance at it. I think the UI arrangement in general could use some polishing for that matter.

this means different things to different people, that's why.
