This is fairly random, and don't even know if anyone would care to use it, but when the clan stuff launched on bungie.net I registered a #DestinyGAF IRC channel on Rizon, because there was communication on the "wall" which seemed really inefficient haha. Not long after I posted about it, the group was set as a clan and the wall vanished though =p

So dunno, figured "I have this channel up and I'm in IRC a lot so might as well tell people it exists".

I just read that apparently Hunters are OP.

But from the limited time that I spent on the game, I truly think that it just happens to be that the ones ranked in the top ten are just hunters atm.

You wait till launch you'll see a very diverse list in there, it just so happens that currently we are seeing the hunter trend, and to be honest it's weird.

My buddy was all for warlock like ever since day one, but after playing on a hunter he's now all up in the hunters vote, which I might add has really annoyed me as it's going to mess with the fireteam dynamic :

FRIENDS AYE?!! ERGH!
Not many are making secondaries. And really it's not like hunters are doing anything that makes them op atm. Just happens that for example people are playing as them. In my fireteam we have 2 warlocks and 2 hunters (including myself as a warlock). The other warlock is the best in our team and consistently gets above 2.0 kdr. One of the hunters is next with above a 1.5 and then I'm next.

Yeah, the Level 8 version is what people mean. In the alpha, there wasn't a level selection option, but a proper difficulty change. And it showed you in detail how prepared you were. It appears they've replaced the detailed information, and it just tells you in a general form. That "normal" level 6 or 8 mission would say "Hard" if you were a level 5 or undergeared. When I first unlocked the strike on the map in the beta, it displayed it as hard.

Hopefully the proper difficulty modes will return in the full game, and they'll do a better job of explaining things. There's a ton of stuff that's just "figure it the fuck out". Probably, hopefully, just a beta thing.

Right, this is why I was confused, because in alpha I did the normal instance once at lvl6, then went straight to Brave difficulty when I hit lvl8 and then soon moved onto Legendary. And now there's none of that.

People are speaking about hard version, but I only have Lvl6 and lvl8 normal versions of it. I have no idea why the harder versions are not unlocking for me.

if you're a level 2 those levels will be labeled as hard. if you are the level recommended it's on normal.

however, when you selected the higher level you also see a skull icon indicating a modifier in place cause more enemies to spawn. in the alpha i believe they also had legendary strikes which were very difficult. expect to see many different combination of modifiers and challenge levels in the final version.

if you want a tough challenge now start a new character and play all of the story missions when you're low level. i did them all solo and it took many many many deaths to finally beat them.

edit - seil got me. good work

Learn to use the radar. I've "snuck" up on people because they don't know how to use it.

This is good advice for anyone struggling in the PvP.

I was going along horribly until I got control of 3 main things:

1. The Radar
2. Jumping/Floating Strategically
3. Using the Turret/Tank/Vehicles properly

After this, PvP took on a whole new vibe, I'm so addicted now.. it's crazy.

Yep, Scout Rifle are good in PvP too, if you aim the head. Here're mine (the first one is my main weapon in PvE):

Trust me I will be making a test subject then my main.

My tester will probably be a titan, as I want to see how they roll. But really I know I'm a hunter as I have always been about strafe and jumping it's just my style...

I haven't had any beta playtime yet (stupid dead PS4) but will get some starting wednesday when hopefully I will have my replacement PS4 and also the xbox beta starting.

I don't see any of the classes being really broken or cookie cutter from what I have seen.

Also, what is the best burst/BR type gun, I am all about this over an "AR type gun"

Is it just me, or did Bungie perfect the console UI with Destiny? Everything in it feels so fluid and well built. Nothing seems like a chore to get to, it loads super fast, and, hell, even the menu screen with your ship just idling in space over the planet feels so elegant. I could leave that on my TV all day just as a screensaver.

One thing I really wish they would take advantage of, is the touchpad on the DS4. Since basically everything on the UI needs to have a 'cursor' pointed at it, it would be perfect to just use the touchpad rather than using the analog stick as it is now.

I haven't encountered a pulse rifle I like.

I'm the same way. I either got full auto rifle or drop it down to scout rifle. The middle ground just doesn't work for me.

I can agree with that. Maybe in the full release

with the player leveling so fast will anyone bother to put this much time into a level 8 green gun in the final game? 62 seems to be the cap for most of the level 8 weapons, but im already stock piling blue weapons in my vault just in case we can carry it over into final game. the level 9 and 10 weapons seem to almost double the damage of level 8 weapons and the amount of available upgrades.

i suppose this also means iron banner will play a lot differently than it does not when players are spread out across the different levels with different states of upgraded weaponry. right now feels too much like regular crucible with everyone at the cap.

finally figure out the best way to level guns and armor is to equip them before turning in bounties. almost guaranteed at least one upgrade for each item. didnt know the upgrades exp based, and not kills based like i thought.

I think the "problem" with PvP is that there really is no intro for new players after the beta has been running for awhile. You are thrown in at level 5-ish with level 8 players running with the best loadouts, and you are naturally decimated.

I really hope PvP won't be the type of experience where unless you use so and so gun and have so and so armor, you have no chance...

I dont think anything carries over to the full game...

i wonder about that considering the emblem we can get on the 26th and that the reward for iron banner is a purple gun and ship. not understanding the rationale to giving those out if cannot keep. could it be to just show us what's possible?

XBOX people, when you go on bungie what date have you got for

"come back on XX for code?"

just interested that's all, really hoping to get it downloaded ready for go live.

Also what time is it meant to be back up on the 23rd, forgive me if it is in the OP, I have looked around on B.net but haven't seen it...

Although I have been skim reading whilst trying to get a San back online, lord I dislike Linux

Dmg is normalized in crucible mode 'Control'. It doesnt matter if you have a lvl 8 gun or lvl 6.

Right now it's not so much about so and so gun as it is about most people having a better time with an assault rifle as their main than any other primary. On full game there should be a bigger variety of weapons so it won't be as obvious as "you need x weapon"

Iron Banner always gives high lvl loot. The emblem will be unlocked in the full game if you play at the end on the 26th.

It's still up so I am guessing it will go down at 10 AM PST,like when it started and come back Wednesday at 1 PM EST,like on the 17th as well...this is from my ass though so who knows lol...

So as long as we play on the 26th, we should get to keep the Iron Banner loot right? I'll need to sign in and play a few games to make sure.

"THE WIZARD THAT CAME FROM YOUR ASS"

Thanks for the info though :D I was thinking/hoping as much

They've said nothing about iron banner stuff carrying over to my knowledge. There's a special emblem beta participants get if they play on the 26th which does carry over. They've been unclear about the time, because they've said after 2PM and after 8PM pacific at different occasions x.x

They've also said there's a possibility that we will be able to carry over progress, but it's undecided. As far as we know, anyway.

No I think you only get a special emblem which unlocks in the full game if you played at the end of the beta on the 26th.

I dont think you get to keep any gear at all. As it should by the way!

I suspect that banner stuff is gone as it'll reset, plus given the nature of the loot it was seriously mess up day one stuff, especially considering the times for EU guys like myself and also players that just didn't get a chance to play.

Although who knows!

Yea, they've been cagey about it. Probably not sure what they want carried over. But I would like cosmetic stuff like Emblems and sashes/capes to carry over. Doesn't hurt.

After putting more hours in and switching my setup I've become SO much better at the PvP. I've also learned how to use my Warlock better too, I fricken love the Warlock's Super
