I wouldn't count on areas on Earth besides Old Russia.

Believe.

Forgive my ignorance if this has been talked about already, but is it possible to get any gear that applies to Intellect? Haven't come across anything yet.

There was Int gear in the Alpha but they may have adjusted it so that Int gear is higher for the Beta. With Control being the only game type, Int gear would be insanely powerful and the game could quickly become Super spam.

it could very well be venus but they said venus was a garden world and cities with tall buildings doesn't come to mind when i think garden world especially after seeing shores of time but whatever we'll find out in 2 months.

From the intro:
''Mercury became a garden world''

The intro states that great cities were built on Mars an Venus. Venus is no way whatsoever a garden world.

Do the merchants at Tower sell different inventory at random times? I'm looking for a Jigoku SR3 RIFLE but still haven't found one.

Random times? I mean they have a restocking which it states when you go to the merchant. That's how I got an AR3 the other day.

I have seen so many..

HOW THE FUCK DO I PVP?? this boring story shit is the worst.

To be fair, the story has been pretty weak thus far. I am hoping it's because we just haven't gotten far enough.

Also, I redid a story mission on the harder difficulty and it made me sit through the cutscene again where we spoke with the Speaker. Yaaaaaaaay!

Yes the Interceptor is a real problem at the moment. I even think there is some auto-aim in place that makes it even more devastating. I've tried jumping away from it, like really far away and it always manages to hit me in the air.

Either they nerf it significantly or they make it so that only one Interceptor spawn once on the map, in the middle somewhere. If it blows up, that's it.

There's definitely some severe BS auto aim going on with the Interceptor. People have jumped high versus me and I just put the crosshair on them and pull the trigger, the damn missile zeroes in on them. Fixing that alone would probably make a lot of the rage towards them go away.

As it is, that + speed makes it harder than it should be to maneuver around them. You have to hope the pilot is bad.

Yeah but since you've rushed them and overtaken their spawn, they spawn at and take A and then you can take C from them. That's how it normally worked for our team, anyway.

Yup. While the multiple levels of the map are great, B and C are way too close together and allow an organized team to lock down the objectives way too effectively.

I'm annoyed it took me til last night to figure out those details about that map. But, yeah, once I figured it out (plus the fact that people trying to leave A are, lets just say, at a disadvantage if you setup and aim towards it), it made me downrate the map in my mind. It was my favorite until that happened. I was on the winning side, but, being on the losing side would suck.

Listen guy. There is nothing wrong with the servers. Maintenance is either testing a new build, making changes to the current build, or retooling how some stuff works. Whatever they are doing, they are not doing nothing.

Are you implying they are doing maintenance ; just cause '?

Did you even read anything I said? I'm seriously wondering, because I am agreeing with you entirely!

My point is that because there's nothing wrong with the servers, and because this has been planned, there is no need to do "maintenance" on them. In any article where you can see Bungie discussing this maintenance, a "main event" on Friday is always mentioned. Thinking that this is the reason why is not an unreasonable conjecture.

I'm going to quote this post for anyone who seriously thinks that the Beta is being taken offline just for fixes:

Guardians, you have one day to enjoy the Destiny Beta on your PlayStation. Early Monday morning (Pacific Time), we'll shut down services for a planned maintenance window that will help us prepare for the main event

So, after playing the Beta for a bit, these are my suggestions for the retail version (regarding PVE):

1) Main weapon ammo (the gray/white box) is too small and difficult to spot. This can be a little problematic in assault mode, because they are also scarce. I'd suggest to increase the size of the box and/or change it's color to something more flashy (maybe yellow, or red).

2) Hunter's super is relatively weak. The main problem here, in my opinion (and as far as I know), is it's inability to do "critical damage" (the yellow numbers). With my huntress, my golden gun damage on the final boss (the purple orb guy, in assault mode) was about 350, while my sniper rifle would deal ~250 with "normal" hits and ~550 with "critical" hits. In the end, my secondary weapon's damage output surpassed - by far - my super's. In my opinion, allowing "critical" hits with the golden gun could mitigate/solve this.

3) When you're resurrected, you can be killed again immediately, without any chance to react. This often happens when facing bosses, because of their one-shot skills. I know that your team-mate should time it correctly - so you can respawn safely - but communication in this game is poor, and you're the one dying again because of somebody else's mistake. Anyway, my suggestion to this issue is: a) give a shield boost to the person being resurrected, or; b) allow 1~2 seconds of invincibility after respawn, or; c) after being resurrected, you'll only respawn after pressing square (id est., by resurrecting you, your team mate "resets" the timer, allowing you to choose when to respawn).

4) There's little to no penalty in dying. You're just sent to a distant place on the map, and that's it. Also, dying can be an advantage in some situations, because you receive ammo after respawning. In my opinion, there should be some kind of drawback, like losing 100~200 "money" (I don't know the name of the blue thing in English, haha).

So my final impression for Crucible is that I hate it. It is unbalanced and not very fun IMO.

I just don't like the fact that a lot of gear, events, etc. are being walled off in Crucible and feel those who don't want to play PvP will be at a disadvantage gear wise, XP, etc.

I think it would be better if PvP used different characters and such than the Co-op/shared world experience.

Not liking half the game, and that's not a good thing.

Except it could be, even in reality, given enough resources to transform its dense atmosphere. Plus, the Venus crucible map is filled with lush vegetation.

Yep, and you can check it from the app.

Makes me wish they would let you BUY items from the app, so I could pick up useful stuff if it goes on sale while I'm at work or something.

Yup. It's already awesome that we can check the stock from mobile but I'd really like the ability to buy with through the app as well as long as I have the required currency. Just have the items get placed in our storage automatically.

3) There is a few seconds of invulnerability when resurrected.

4) In Alpha you were just sent back a ways. I haven't resurrected myself often in the Beta during a Mission but the one time I can recall doing so, I was sent back to the beginning of the instance. Loss of money would be a bit too harsh with the changes they've made to Glimmer (the English name) acquisition. They also have made ammo more scarce to encourage people to buy the ammo packs which is a currency sink.

As someone who sacrifices the ability to rack up points by protecting B for my team with that turret, I gotta disagree. :) I may have a wide view of things but there are plenty of places that you can get the jump on me and snipe me out of there-- I've definitely been on the receiving end of a well-aimed shot before. Or coordinate better with your team where one jets behind with a vehicle and another person gets me from a different angle. I think turret is a great counterbalance to all those people trolling control points with Interceptors.

I suppose so. I guess I'm just upset because it was very problematic in the match I played last night on the moon. I was the only one who cared about so the turret guy was pretty much set up perfectly to defend it. The alpha matches I had on the moon was very high scoring for the guy in the turret

I am excited to see what the big event will be. I also hope its not a timed event in case i am busy at that time.

I distinctly remember the hard mode for the Strike being much more difficult. During the final encounter particularly, I remember Captains spawned with some regularity from the left side and from behind. I loved it in the Alpha because it was a long, tense battle that required you to constantly shift your focus to new threats. What happened?

How is it unbalanced, in your opinion?

**
Sidenote, saw a level 6 join IB yesterday. Sighed inwardly, thought he'd be a drag on the team.

He actually got over a 1.5 K/D. I was....surprised.

Welp, that IGN Xbox One 1080p thread turned into a crap-shoot very quickly.

And it ends up the guy was being sarcastic :P.

You don't really go into why you think it's unbalanced. And I don't really agree with you and I'm terrible at the Crucible. :P

Well, after several hours of play and a few missions in the bag, I have to say I think I may just pre-order this game. I was never much of a Halo fan, didn't play the original or 2 on the OG Xbox, co-op'ed 3 once and never played it again and therefore skipped 4, but love or hate the Halo franchise, I can't pretend Bungie doesn't know a thing or two about making a great looking, great playing FPS. Everything feels tight and balanced, technically it's nice to look at, and it maintains a pretty consistent frame rate. All in all, I have to admit I'm impressed.

The only thing I struggle with are the extreme Mass Effect vibes I get from the town/hub area and the overall character designs. I wasn't all that into ME either, tried to play through the first one and grew bored several hours in. I wouldn't say I don't like some space/sci-fi themed content, but I would never fancy myself a "fan". There's this tipping point with humanoid characters that I start to just not care for 'em.

I'd say PvP is closer to 1/3 of the game, and the crucible gear is mostly meant to be useful in PvP, but I agree with wanting a playlist that standardizes things even more. Maybe we'll eventually get one if Crucible proves popular enough to have a real competitive scene.

Maybe add an NPC who gives out free gear that's already leveled up and has a variety of powerful upgrade options, but you can't use it outside of that specific esports playlist. That's basically how Guild Wars 2 handles it.

That was on Legend difficulty in Alpha. Legend isn't available in Beta for some reason.

It has an official start time at 2PM Pacific on Friday. But, as the Iron Banner tournament proves, Bungie just might be willing to accommodate various schedules.

Well, at least I can return to Infamous Second Son now that the beta is down. Once it goes back up, I think I'll try out the other two classes.

Maybe they'll unlock the moon mission after the maintenance is down...

Ah, that makes sense. I thought they had just changed the UI and name for the different difficulties since it no longer lists the relative effectiveness of your weapons like it did in the alpha.

Do others find the enemies in Destiny to look a bit too similar?

Also, how are they different and why do I care (as a player)?

I know they're going for different races and species etc., but I have trouble really distinguishing anything other than captains and the flying robots. I was expecting a bit better art/design similar to Halo where each enemy felt distinct and was easily identifiable. Perhaps it's because I'm on PS3 right now. I'm looking forward to trying it out on XB1 soon.

I'm hesitant to visit. Bottom line it for me?

Thread devolves into people complaining about parity and how Bungie is gimping the PS4 version or something.

I dunno. I think it would be better to wait for the game to come out before even determining whether or not Bungie "gimped" the PS4 version so the Xbox One version could be equal to it.

Welp, that IGN Xbox One 1080p thread turned into a crap-shoot very quickly.

You know with some of the content I would like to be on IGN.

But then I remember that it's better to grab the info then come here and post, because it's safer here.

BEWARE OF THE DARKNESS THAT IS IGN FORUMS....

Come on, use some critical thinking. No one has reported server problems.

Go look at anything that mentions the "maintenance" in the gaming press. Every time, Bungie mentions that there is a "main event' for which the "rewards will be handsome and permanent".

I have server issues. I get disconnected from 99% of my Crucible matches.

I recall either DeeJ or Urk saying that Bungie felt that Legend was still too easy in their book, so they may be retuning it. The multiple difficulties that we see in Beta seem to be a middle ground.

Welp, that IGN Xbox One 1080p thread turned into a crap-shoot very quickly.

Pretty much any thread involving a comparison between the same game on an XB1 and a PS4 will.

That's going to be the main storyline for this generation of consoles - and it hasn't even been a year yet.

I hardly saw those kinds of posts. I saw more posts ridiculing Microsoft and IGN for suddenly saying 1080p matters.

Is it just me or does the warlocks scatter grenade kind of suck for pvp?

Yup just use the Vortex Grenade.

The Internet discussion surrounding the differences is pretty much irrelevant until the Digital Foundry write-up anyway. At this point, it's a waiting game for everyone.
