Does anyone know if there is anyway to get familiar with the different Crucible maps without diving into a match and getting killed a score of times in a matter of minutes? I'm new to console FPS PvP multiplayer and as such my stats are atrocious. I'm sure most of the other players have spent years cutting their teeth on Halo and Battlefield and CoD whereas all I ever really did was CS:S on the PC. I'd love to be able to calmly walk around the maps because they are just beautiful too. :)
 
Another thing.

The time between kills for multikills could stand to be opened up a bit.
 
Not trying to ruffle any feathers, but does the lag have to do with Playstation's less than stellar online platform?

It could be any number of things. Not much use in speculating unless there's a large discrepancy in network performance compared to platforms.

those that are having lag what are your internet connections?

Just wondering as I haven't seen a single issue on mine, but I am running 120mb down 20mb up :)

150 Mbps down 25 Mbps upload but bandwith has shit to do with online gaming. My ping to my server in Titanfall is 24ms it's in Chicago I'm in ohio. My ping test show zero issues with ping or jitter. All other games perform fine I play Titanfall almost daily. Net code is busted in destiny.

Yes, you'll get 2 extra X1 codes :)

Traditionally Bungie games take a little while to settle out and get all the mathmaking systems calibrated to find low latency game. Generally they took 3-4 days before they started to get better. I'm not sure if the tech has changed much here or not.
Yep, plus the skill balance between players takes some time to even out. Week 2 of Destiny PvP is going to be a fucking blast.

i used this yesterday. i had a better one before that i accidentally dismantled (not sure if it was a pompeii or one that started with a C) but this was pretty good too. i wish i found a green one for iron banner. the one i used there was awful.
 
I hope they open up the Moon. I want to go see all my Wizard friends.
From the chatter between certain affiliates iv been noticing on Twitter and forums and whatnot.. I think they are gonna open open the Moon when they come back, and not only that, I also think they'll be surprising us with other things that we don't know shit about yet.

Probably not. Shadowfall ran fairly well even with shit blowing up everywhere. Also remember the Halos suffering from lag in a similar fashion, though I feel Destiny is a bit better. The same lag in Destiny is about what I get with Titanfall. Generally not enough to have players freezing up/teleporting or the game to go nearly into a standstill, but where I can be killed behind obstructions or kill/be killed post-mortem from either ends gunfire.

Also don't think the game's running through Sony's servers, but those under Bungie. The only thing that would suffer between platforms during matches would be certain online features that either are not present on one system or the other, or not up to snuff (parties, voice chat, friends list/invites/joining).

It's probably just unoptimized (correct term?) net code.

This is a weird question. What's a situation in which lag exists but wouldn't have to do with the platform? It being from the user's end? In that case, what's the distinction?
 
It kinda goes to show you how poor a job Bungie has done on selling the game if people who had zero intention of picking it up, played the Beta and were completely sold on it (such as myself and 4 of my friends...). They did a good enough job to pique my interest but not enough for me to say must-buy.

TLDR, Beta did a better job selling the game than the PR/media hype train...

ya its a different kind of latency. players die seconds after you kill them, which is probably why you can barely do anything against a titan or warlock super. ive seen people walk into walls, but haven't really played any rubber-banding matches. there's often just a big disparity between what a player sees, what really happened, and when it did.
 
When it comes to Netcode, Bungie is really bad. Never liked Halo for that exact reason. It's better with Destiny, but still gets me raging too often... Unloaded a full clip of machine gun ammo in an afk guys face. Nothing happend. Walking away, it was like 30 seconds later, when that kill showed up. It's not always THAT crazy, but there are some extreme situations. And a little lag seems to be always there. Swapping Destiny in right after a CoD Session a had to triple check, if my TV is in Game Mode...

There was NO lag for me during the Alpha. During the Beta it has been brutal and that's putting it lightly. Not sure what changed, but I'm guessing it's the increased load.

Are they not using dedicated servers and relying solely peer to peer matchmaking? Sadface if so.
 
Is the armor for hunters meant to have lower stats than Titans and warlocks or is it mine that sucks?

I'm planning on maining a hunter class once the game is released but having lower a defense than your opponent in a PvP match is kinda of bad..
