Nintendo Downloads - July 2014

I've only played the first board game, the room games that allow for two players (which, hey, it's dumb that they reduced the number of those) and the Gamepad games, so keep that in mind when I say that aside from some Gamepad games which were fun and interesting, I found the rest to be really disappointing. The Wii one was great, though.

In terms of games in the Mario party lineage (including MP), we've more or less hit rock bottom. Sorry.

Well, I jumped in for the Wii U Pro controller.
Will be nice for if I want to play the VC games on the television (even though I mainly play them on the gamepad, but just in case).

Where's the ALBW first dungeon? ._.
Any dungeon is the first dungeon. Take your pick and go for it! Seriously, that's how the game works, you can play them in any order.

Picked up a 3DS XL on Thursday and anyways does the 3DS have any dungeon crawler games?

That I can remember now, without putting much thought into it, there's Etrian Odyssey 4, Etrian Odyssey Untold, Devil Summoner Soul Hackers, Shin Megami Tensei 4, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Conception 2 and UnchainBlades. Maybe Rune Factory 4 could be considered a dungeon crawler, I'm not sure. The second Adventure Time is a dungeon crawler but I don't know if it's any good. Plus a few Japanese exclusives. And if you don't have a DS, there's like a million billion dungeon crawlers for it that you can play on your 3DS.

Right, I know the one. I didn't play that yet but it sounded good. :P
I believe it's rated highly too. That's the other thing, the fact there are online user ratings for every little thing is great.
The eShop Rating System is probably the best rating system out there. Casual vs Hardcore. Single vs Multiplayer (?). Tons of other stuff too. I love how it breaks down the ratings by numbers. It's insanely comprehensive and I actually like browsing by on it just because of that.
Double tapping every few seconds? I thought you could just hold the circle pad to the right. Or are we talking about two different things? I know I'm not going to change your mind on the game, just want to make sure I understand what you're referring to.
The tabletop games are awesome, too! Really neat feature.
Oh... yeah, you can. But I have not yet grown to like using the Circle Pad except when I absolutely have to. They had the right idea with the concave finger slot but it's either not deep enough or the ridges aren't high enough or the rubber on this specific DS is just worn out to hell. Hopefully Nintendo uses Analog Sticks next time.

Shin Megami Tensei ($25 on eShop) maybe what you're looking for? Watch some Devil Summoner (Both $15 on the eShop_ Videos (don't have time to look I'm about to go to sleep), there's a massive ATLUS sale going on this week.

I mean the very very first dungeon... I had to look it up online since I never died and didn't think to go back to my house to get the Bow and Arrow from Nabbit. I forgot my commitment to never looking up Zelda walkthroughs just this once :(

What this guy says for Dungeon Crawlers.

Is Kid Icarus 3D worth using 200 Club Nintendo coins for? I've only played the NES game briefly and hear it's like a "companion/sister title" of sorts to NES Metroid.

What other options are there?

Oh yeah. I remember now why I stopped using the Circle Pad in the first place. If you don't push the Pad fast enough in the direction, it doesn't dash, it walks. So it's speed sensitive and not just a continuous auto-run button. It's pretty much a major oversight. I really wish I could tweak this game. I'd make it perfect. Right now I'm absolutlely plowing through it. I want to beat it and then try to 100% the main campaign in the next 14 hours or so.

Classic controls plays like the NES version but custom gives you easy rapid fire of weapons and holding button down while jumping slows descent.

There are other changes from the NES version too:

Didn't realise the new game+ option was dropped completely though.

Is there a Wii U Pro Controller to PC/PS3 adapter? I think that would probably sell me on it

The Mayflash adapter that GrumpyAlien already mentioned and linked the NeoGAF thread for also works with the PS3 in Dinput mode. I've used it, and it works exceptionally well, except for the fact that the PS button can't be mapped to the home button on the controller (the same issue people are having with using the DualShock 4 on the PS3). The adapter is at its lowest price ever currently ($18), so it's definitely worth it.

That sounds fucking great, the Pro Controller is just the best pad ever, I'm so getting that

I've got $10 in eShop credit from DDP, and I'm not sure what to spend it on. Earthbound? Pushmo World? Steamworld Dig and something else? Save money on Shovel Knight?

Anyone have any thoughts or notice anything I haven't mentioned? I'm more inclined to buy something exclusive to eShop or VC unless it's on sale and I own both a Wii U and 3DS.

Earthbound and Steamworld Dig's best version
so on 3DS
, you can't go wrong.
SD is a great game, perfect on 3DS.

Wrote my impressions and how long it took me to beat it here. Enjoy (?)

Hoping for

Super Mario kart
Super Mario rpg
Free brain age
Donkey kong land
Metroid zero mission

All released this Thursday.

Really?
I never would've guessed.

You better let NOA know, they might've missed it.

No brain age
No GBA
No super Mario kart
No SNES
No crossbuy

What the fuck NOA!? Who in their right mind is going to download an old NES Baseball game?

It's like NOA doesn't want to make money. These are all shit.

Where's all the GBA games?
Where's Super Mario Kart?
Where's Super Mario RPG?
Where's Donkey Kong Land?
Where's Brain Training?

I'm still pissed about NOA offerings this week. Do they seriously think someone is going to buy a NES baseball game?

Even worst; even if you do buy it, ya don't get it for free on the other system. You gotta buy it again!!

What the hell is wrong with them?

Where's brain age?
Where's super Mario kart?
Where's super Mario rpg?
Where's secret of mana?
Where's donkey kong land?
Where's Metroid zero mission?

What are you doing NOA!?

NOA won't do this.

No discount? Now that I think about it, has NOA ever done a cross buy discount? Always seems it's in Europe and Japan

NOA is the only region so far where they have yet to do a single cross buy discount at all. None.

We have been down this road before when we thought they were going to totally revamp their awards when they shut down for a week.

They most likely forgot or just don't have time. They literally don't care at NOA at all.

My guess is 30% off selected VC games. Yes they said it LIVE..the asian lady announced it

Of course not. NOA has NEVER given us a discount on any cross buy or promotion. Meanwhile EU and Japan constantly gets cross buy promotions, buy Pikmin; get discount on Wonderful 101 or whatever it was, etc. Zero zip nadda.

It's a shame that it's only in Europe yet but hopefully this cross buy operation will be appreciated and the technical contraints that prevented it to happen in the US will be fixed."

Wonder if this lines up with what I said earlier about NOA never doing a cross buy promotion. Before anyone mentions fire emblem and SMT, that was from club nintendo and not NNID.

What the FUCK NOA!?!?

Look at this garbage we get to choose from
FowAm39.jpg

Yeah...NOA won't do this. NOA released Bases Loaded and not super mario kart.

Fuck NOA.

For all regions except North America, because yanno NOA.

NOA is absolutely fucking useless.

Golden sun the lost age
All Castlevania
Metroid zero mission
Donkey kong country ports

Doesn't matter. NOA won't release them.

Oh yeah, that's right...

"@MidgardDragon We submitted a patch and it was implemented in the EU version. If and when the US implements it as well is not up to us."

Apparently Giana Sisters is still unpatched in NOA. This statement is just fishy and doesn't make any sense..

Did U owners ever get the chance to buy the DLC? I'd get the game in heartbeat if I knew I'd get to play the Owlord content.

That is really odd. They can't/haven't asked Nintendo about it?

Given the lack of info, who knows... The oldest Wii U game in lotcheck right now (which include patches) is 11 days. So this 4 month/etc patch kinda means they got a rejection, if they even submitted it for NOA.... Perhaps they are just lazy..

Off-TV play doesn't work right, btw. There is no music when playing on the GamePad.

Black Forest's twitter says they are working on a fix but it's held up on the Nintendo certification process due to an unexpected bug or something.

I bought the game and played the first few levels... Seems decent enough for the price.

Apparently it's been 6 months.......

If it's a bug, then they (the dev) should try to find a work around to fix it. If they are claiming an unexpected bug is stopping it from being patched and it's been 6 months without doing anything else, that is just lazy and incompetent. Again, don't know full details. They REALLY need to tell those who paid for the game (like me) what's up with the patch...

My own game failed lotcheck like 4+ times do to game crashing bugs. I didn't go around pretending it's not my fault. I got my ass to work on fixing the game and eventually got it through. Again, don't know full details. Maybe there is a simple explanation? Well, we don't know...

Weird week coming up on the Wii U Virtual Console in Japan: Mysterious Murasame Castle, Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge, some SFC interactive novel (Otogiriso?) and Neutopia II and something called Be Ball on PC Engine.

So, really, a bunch of crap we'll never see and a Mega Man game I personally have zero interest in. Any chance we get Murasame Castle as an import? Those Euros already have it on 3DS.

EDIT: So despite all logic, Be Ball has an even worse name in English: Chew Man Fu.

That was one of the like dozen or so games I bought on the Wii VC. I bought a few TG16 games, since I didn't have the system, but eventually decided if I wanted more of them, I should just buy the system.

It's funny, I bought maybe more TG16 games on Wii VC than anything else. The fact that I bought up everything Bonk-related was a big part of that.

You ever play Bravoman? Now that is a game.

Yeah, my outlook on the Wii VC was:
NES, SNES, N64, Genesis: I own these systems and hundreds of games for them. Either I already own it, and this is offering me nothing different, or I'll just buy the actual game, which will then actually be mine physically, and often times was cheaper.
TurboGrafx: Well, I don't own this system, so initially I was buying games for it. But, the system isn't that expensive either, so eventually I decided that if I was going to want more games for it, I should just buy the system
Neo-Geo and Arcade: BUY!

With the Wii U VC though, it is offering me something different and worthwhile - the ability to play directly on the gamepad, as opposed to just on the television - so I've been getting a whole bunch of games for all the systems on this.

And, I don't believe I've ever played Bravoman. I'll have to check it out.
