Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XI: Where 90% correct equals 100% wrong

True. I am really hoping her default moveset is composed of Heavenly Light, Auto Reticle, Jump Glide and Reflect (since she doesn't use her huge shield, she better have a "shielding" move as default), but the default moveset will probably be entirely different and I will be disappointed. I can feel it.
I'm expecting Heavenly Light, Jump Glide, and Reflect Barrier to be defaults (they all feel like they were consciously designed to reflect Palutena's character), but Autoreticle seems to function like a standard special, so I don't think she'll have that. Angelic Missile, Super Speed, and Lightweight are all horizontal "launch" attacks, so those will probably be her side specials. I think Angelic Missile suits her best out of the three.

What about Wii U? The box art characters are slightly different.
Different starting rosters maybe?

Well I don't know a lot about Palutena, since I am yet to play Uprising, but she is supposed to be a goofy character, right? Angelic Missile probably does suits her.

That'd be very interesting. I imagine the Wii U may have an unlocked roster, or an option to unlock it from the 3DS.

Speaking Palutena, I wonder what her standard move set will be. I'm guessing Celestial Fireworks, Jump Glide and Auto-Reticle will be standard. Black Hole/Mega Laser will be her FS.

Translated scans about the internet. You can find it if you want to.

The smash run page seems to show an options screen where the custom moves are from what I can tell, is this just something that it shows you at the start of smash run or is the the customisation menu? Looks like moves will be in a menu separate from the CSS if so, which sucks a lot.

Only real highlights to me were details on WFT's neutral B (Sun Salutation). If you charge it all the way, you gain some health. The two customizable versions that they showed were:

  • One where there's less charge time and it does more damage (Translation was weird about this part, i'm sure someone will clear it up), but there's no heath regen.
  • One where it moves a lot slower and does less damage but it keeps pushing the other player back.
Customizable moves sound really, really interesting. I'm excited to see what sakurai pulls off.

More healing moves...woooooo

Where can I find these scans?

I'm pretty sure on the Wii U CSS there was a screenshot of it that showed that the customization was in the top right corner of the CSS. I could be remembering wrong but I swear I saw "Customization: OFF" or something like that. You must be able to click that and let it take you to the customization and it's only "OFF" if you don't choose/change any moves or something. The 3DS CSS is really odd looking so I wouldn't be surprised if putting customization on the CSS wasn't an option for them (or even a priority).

I don't know, I'd like to be hopeful they'd be smart enough to have it on the CSS -- but then again the name entry that let you customize your buttons for your name was also outside the CSS in Brawl. (Note I am talking about button config, not the quick name entry under your character in the CSS).

Out of curiosity, how many healing moves does Smash Bros. have?

PSI Magnet (Ness/Lucas)
Sun Salutation (Wii Fit Trainer)
Deep Breathing (Wii Fit Trainer)
Nosferatu (Robin)

Is that it?

Sun Salutation and Deep Breathing have a healing effect? I had no idea. I thought SS was just a charge shot move like Samus' arm cannon that gets stronger after DB. How does the healing work?

If we want to get ultra technical we could say Peach's FS and Diddy's peanuts

Yeah, was that even worth implementing? :P

It's a reference to the number of people who actually started to live a healthier life style using wii fit.

This is more a joke about people buying into fads and then not having the motivation to follow through, never played wii fit and have no idea how good it is

1%? Game breaking move right there.

I imagine it's hard to give it too much of a heal with making it unfair or harder to balance. I guess it's just a perk to make you want to use Sun Salutation more.

Maybe it heals more if you buff it with Deep Breathing first?

I do. I think the only time I've ever seen it actually put someone to sleep for more than a second - if it could even connect - was in the early days of Melee.
Try the mod Brawl Minus where they increase the range and stun duration. ANNOYING. This is not the kind of move you want to be good.

It is really annoying in that, but it still isn't great since it can't put you to sleep in the air. I think the move could stand to have about double the range that it does in Melee/Brawl.

Jigglypuff changes I want to see:
  • Some of her attacks should have sparkle effects to reflect the Fairy type
  • Her down special should be reanimated and renamed Disarming Voice (it'd function the same as Rest)
  • Her old Rest animation should be repurposed into a taunt

I know it's a staple at this point, but I always thought it was dumb that Jigglypuff falling asleep would somehow KO the opponent. Retooling that into Disarming Voice (or even Hyper Voice) would at least make sense.

I feel like Jigg's specials in general are just kind of poorly designed. Rest should have some sort of healing factor. Sing should be imporved or changed, but it's very hard to balance especially considering her rest. Pound is fine and can be useful for her mobility, but it's also extremely boring. Her Final Smash doesn't even make sense.

She needs an overhaul. Badly. Luckily her aerial game and normals make her fun/good when some people use her, but to me she's boring as hell and doesn't even seem to have synergy with herself.
