MSMARVELCONFIRMED
I was at the panel since everyone in my group went. I personally haven't liked most of the previous Marvel movies, so I actually didn't even want to go.
However, the trailer was pretty decent, it actually kinda made me want to watch it.
I also saw the trailer. It was awesome. Spader is great, and Ultron is terrifying in all the right ways. My favorite part is still when Cap budged the Mjolnir though.
It was all 3D animation, I assume. What about Ant Man tho?
My only problem with the audio is, hat Ultron doesnt sound artificial enough. But I would be suprised when they dont change this in the final movie anyway.
Sooo ... any chance that this trailer will show at the end of GoTG??
You mean he will get Dinklaged?
Sony have acknolwedged ASM2 underperformed and disappointed, pushing ASM3 back accordingly.
Marvel is still having a good creative, critical and commerically successful run.
Spidey cameo-ing in the Marvel universe = C'MON! Sony at this point have more to gain by allowing this to move forward but it would be an equal boon for Marvel. It may even help Sony drive their Sinister Six effort.
Marvel wants Spider-Man back, they don't just want a one night stand. If the ASM films are struggling, appearance in an Avengers flick is only going to promote them, directly leading to Spidey getting further and further away from Marvel's grasp.
Problem with Spider-Man is, of all heroes, he'd run to help out Stark if he was in trouble... or Cap... no questions asked. So it'd actually hurt his character to not get involved in their stories.
I really like the ASM films, so there's that...
But even if you think they are bad, I think that Spidey in Marvel wouldn't be good for superhero films. I highly doubt that we would be getting Guardians of the Galaxy if Marvel could make Spider-Man films. Marvel are looking at branching out in new and cool ways with characters which nobody thought would ever get a blockbuster film.
Also, we still get Spidey films! I really like these ASM films, so it's easy for me to say - but this seems to work out pretty well. The same applies to X-Men, which is a pretty big cast that would bog down quite a bit of the Marvel film universe. (The exception here probably being Fantastic 4).
Anyway... if you cling to the hope of Spidey in the Avengers on the big screen. Surely the best time would be to wait a little. Let Sinister Six fail and Sony give up, then we get Spider-Man joining in a future phase, in which at least a couple of the big hitters have probably died/retired. You get Spider-Man as a key figure in a future phase, and also I imagine a great story about Spidey trying and failing to join at first, knowing his bad luck and bad press.
(I'll let you hope, but Sony won't give up).
I think at this point, it's too complicated to involve Spider-Man in an established universe. They'd have to explain Spidey's absense from the Battle Of New York (although you could argue he was elsewhere fighting aliens, we just didn't see it), the existence of Rhino, Goblin, Lizard etc etc on SHIELD's watch, the relationship between Spider-Man and SHIELD.... I think it would pull the pacing down. The great thing about this established universe is that it's gained momentum and everything and everyone that gets added, gets added in that same momentum, I just don't see that happening with Spidey.
